We are on campsite and after all high wind and rain the vents were stinking when we got back to our moho. Followed your guidance and it worked a treat. Btw this definitely works on Burstner elegance. Thank you
You’re welcome, pleased to hear it was helpful and thanks so much for taking the time to let me know, most appreciated :) My mushroom managed to survive some really big hail last Autumn: ruclips.net/video/QbrYcIlBMzQ/видео.html, the awning windows didn’t fare as well and the stones also left a few dents in the aluminium parts of the roof :( In the U.K. we can luckily get the full vent via eBay: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYMER-MOTORHOME-CARAVAN-SMALL-ROOF-VENT-WHITE-/184330785966?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 if you’re not in the U.K. I hope you manage to find the correct part or someone who can plastic weld or 3D print a new one! Best wishes
@@CaraVanOlogywithBecky I live in Spain and I found this one but after watching your video, I think it's not the correct one. Thanks a lot for answering as I wanted to order it over the internet. You have saved me money! My caravan is an Eriba Touring 430.
Thanks I have this vent in my giest lv550. The wind has picked up last night and I just noticed how much cold air is flowing through this vent it might as well be an open hole in the roof. I needed to clean it out as it was looking pretty grim as well. I had an inkling it would just pull down but didn't want to break it attempting it. I had some dial breathable insulation wool and cut it out to fit inside which has cut the draft down a lot and given the vent a frosted look which is a lot nicer and still allows for some airflow.
Certainly can blow a hooley through there can’t it! I was in the same position, an inkling but hadn’t seen it done hence thought it would make a useful vid. Probably occurred to you already but just mentioning in case any newer owners read these comments in the future: be very careful if using gas as the appliances need decent air flow to burn correctly and of course in storage this vent will be keeping the vehicle nicely aired to minimise the chance of condensation. Presumably the designers calculated air flow for both of these things when specifying number and position of vents hence the note of caution if restricting the air flow in any way :) Thanks for watching and commenting and enjoy your Geist, Becky
@Caravanning with Mum On a Mission certainly was and is the only video I found so thanks 👍. Yes I'm aware of gas ventilation and I would only recommend using a breathable wool, it certainly still let's a breeze through it just takes the edge off the extremes. 👍
There appear to be 4 press studs just under the lip of the top piece, 1 on each side. I expect you press those and it pops off, but I as I think I mentioned in this video, I decided not to do that because external plastic covers tend to go brittle in outdoor UV light, so I didn’t want to take the external cover off in case it broke.

Thank you a very useful video. My vents smell manky so am going to do this now.
Just cleaned my two roof vents using a spatula from Homebase we used years ago to do some in-door plastering. Many thanks for the tip.
Great tip, thanks Becky!
Just what I was looking for. Thank you!
Thanks for this information! Very helpful indeed. My mushroom is already cracked due to a hailstorm. Difficult to obtain a new one.
