Working as a info sec analyst for a month (IAM) and it’s definitely a lot to learn in this role but worth it. For those wanting to get into cybersecurity, don’t be afraid to start on help desk or desktop support

While I agree that the foundation and experience will be helpful long term, I'd also like to caution about that alot of helpdesk roles are call centers by nature and offer little to no trajectory as far as career growth (you'll have to be in possession of existing skills/experience to get out of it). The people overseeing helpdesk will want you to stay there as long as possible so unless you have an exit strategy, the experience will be good until it isn't (people with no boundaries telling you how to do your role, leads and managers who don't train you but just look at a metric dashboard, or people mistaking what your capacity is due to IT infrastructure being made around with 2 person control) I say this as someone who contracted at a high net worth financial firm and as someone who works in the auto industry in a helpdesk. Great experience, but have an exit plan.

The google cybersecurity professional certificate actually does cover a variety of network topics. Its a know a little of everything concepts with the main focus being the security aspect of the IT fundamentals.

Hey Ben, I've been using your videos to help me pass Sec+ (I take the test tomorrow) and Ironically I just came across the video you made going through the Apple interview process. I have my interview in 4 days and I wanted to ask you a couple questions what's the best way I could get in touch.

eh CS job market is COOKED, make a great resume get certs isnt enough even having skills
Dont force your way in CS because youll waste valuable time. get a job while still learning more on CS. Union jobs opportunities are always there. my point -> if you dont get hired as an intern or entry level tech job AFTER sending 1000 applications focus that energy elsewhere. BTW the google cert is useless because RECRUITERS dont recognize it as a good cert even though it has more to offer compared to a sec +

I am based in California and it's competitive over here. Would you mind go over my resumes/projects and provide feedback?

I saw a video from Josh Madokor and he spoke about apply to cities with low applicants to increase your chances so my advice apply to Cali based companies but put more effort to other states and avoid cities with huge amounts of applications ie Cali, NY, Virginia etc and use CHATGPT to reformat your CV. Hopefully that helps
