With time, the voice culture improved drastically and vocal support by Mohan krishna in later years made the whole music, a feast invincible 🌸🙏

There is no rendition that I know of that compares to this one! The one and only Sri BMK can produce something as sweet and plaintive at the time. nagumOmu is a plea from Sri Thyagaraja to Sri Rama, and in his rendition, Sri BMK brings out that rasA beautifully. Many sing as if the mood is one of joy; it is a desparate plea on the part of the saint, and Sri BMK is pitch perfect in every way (emotion, diction, pitch, sweetness). His brikAs are simply out of the world.

Enriching Exchanges Indeed yes. //It is a desperate plea on the part of the Saint//
I could understand this only when I bought an English translation of Thyagaraja Krithis by a Telugu scholar in music & literature called E.N.Purushothaman.
I had only listened to the much later rendition & often wondered if it is possible to come up with more varieties of சங்கதி to convey pining , anguish etc etc. Concluded it was impossible. Might even put off the listeners.
I heard this 1963 rendition only last night & could understand why Balamuralikrishna is called 'a Genius'. " Unheard Melodies are no less sweet as far as Balamuralikrishna is concerned.
      உமையாள்புரம் சிவராமன் அவர்களை பற்றி சொல்லவும் முடியுமோ ?

Must have listened to this a million times! Thought I'd read the comments, and yes- this resonates with me! He sings with Profound Grief and puts forward a desperate plea. One should get tears in his/her eyes while listening to this (if one knows the meaning) and Shri BMK does exactly that!

I am grateful for this vintage song upload. Sri BMK appears to became Abheri raga while singing this -bringing out the full potential of the raga in his voice. No one has sung this song like him before or until now. I hope someone will attempt to sing like this in the coming days, because there is some glitch in the recording at the end - is it the audio or the worn record or his voice gave away?
