  • This Technical Friday was recorded on October 7, 2022. We dug into the 30 years of water quality information collected by The Watershed Institute's StreamWatch volunteers. Since 1992 StreamWatch volunteers have gauged the health of our waterways through this community water quality monitoring program. StreamWatch volunteers regularly test water chemistry, measure bacteria levels, and assess the biological and physical health of our waterways.
Jian Smith, The Watershed Institute's StreamWatch Program Coordinator, analyzed 30 years of data to look at patterns and trends. She discussed the limitations of program methods and presented plans for improving the quality and precision of our data. She also explained how this data is turned into valuable information to support the Watershed's education, advocacy, and conservation initiatives.
