Michael modestly says "and the curved part fits the tower almost perfectly". Wrong, Michael, it IS perfect, no gaps, fills, bodgings at all. Just perfect, and this in 2mm scale!! You are the master of the odd shaped urban landscape, these models are a Masterclass in building modelling. George
Since I could, quite seriously, put that roof on in real life (I'm too old now tho'!) I have to say that it looks right because it is right. Well done again Michael!
Hi Michael. Absolutely stunning. Don't forget to add a line of flashing around roof to the tower. Back in the day that would have been lead. I'm just amazed at your work.
Michael Looking good on the nearly complete Old Town Hall just a few more additions till we see in it’s faded glory. A hark back to Chandwell past wonder what Modern Building Chandwell Council built in its place perhaps the Tower behind Market St is it replacement, both Town Hall & Council Offices as a Civic Centre. Wondering out loud what will be the final building or buildings on High St, between Old Town Hall & Railway Viaduct. Maybe something between the Wars like Art Deco or Barhus would be different challenge for you as we know you do faded Grand Victorian or Brutalist Modern. Those striking Art Deco lines part hidden by a 1960/1970 rebuild and signage. Ian
Hi Michael! That was some next level genius to top things off perfectly! Love how you explain your work, making it seem like there's nothing to it, which couldn't be further from the truth, but gives us all hope that one day we could achieve something similar! All the best, Ian.
That turned out really nice! What I do when I have to solve a problem with difficult angles is to first build the structure as a wireframe with little sticks. It's very easy to make alterations and when it looks good I cover it with piecies of cardboard or plasticard or whatever! It's a method that works very fast. In your case because you have to print the surfaces you could dismantle the wireframe structure and make a scan of the surfaces!
Thank yoou so much for your viideos! I had a misfortune, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I also created a channel and am trying to move in that direction, but so far not very successful((lo
Thanks for the tips about the knife blades and cereal packets - it's always good to know where to save money but still get good results :) That roof, and building as a whole look great! The fit around the curved tower looks particularly satisfying!
Hi Michael, another amazing build, but I do wonder whether a building like that would have had a flat roof. I think a valley type would have been more likely. Regardless of roof type you make it look so easy when it's anything but.
Oh if only you knew the agonising I went through on that very question! The reason we had that filler video last week was because I was well and truly stuck on that question. I think I’ve looked at every roof in Bradford, Halifax, and Huddersfield. In the end I concluded that I could find an example of almost anything I chose to make EXCEPT that first valley-like one. In the end, there is a triangular building near the station in Halifax which has a similar footprint, and that, thankfully, has a flat section on the top just like this one. So you may be right, but I’m comfortable that it’s prototypical enough! 😂😳
WOW! Teriffic finish to the roof of this building Your usual standard of brilliance clearly on display The 'screen shot of a real roof' is genius. AND the Inkscape step by step (I know it was not a tutorial) will help in all the future roof building endeavors I have before me. Thank you once again...inspirational!
An absolutely fantastic build from start to finish Michael That is an extremely good looking and super realistic building, Kudos to you sir, well done 👏I'm very impressed, especially given the scale (Even though I say that every week! 😄)
Looks like the roof very tricky but is all different angles are they compound angle this kind of scratch built models is just up street my working life I was a welder &Fabrication so things like model making are really easy Bill
Mate, you are an absolute amazing modeler :) I always look forward to your builds and you narrate then so well. I feel like I want Chandwell to go on forever lol ;) awesome work top notch thank you.

Michael. The roof is perfect. Your explanation is out of the top drawer. But, and there has to be a but. This is Chandwell. An awful place. We expect all the roofs in Chandwell to leak like sieves... So not much realism there mate... The ridges are as tight as a drum 😜🤪😜🤪😜 On a more positive note. What you do for railway modelling is fantastic. Respect. You have even given me the confidence to wander into the card making fraternity. When do we expect to see Chandwell touring on the exhibition scene then... 🤔
A well-fitting roof? I’m letting standards slip. Not heard from you for a little while. Glad you’re back. As for exhibitions… Chandwell is a permanent fixture of my house, so that’s never going to be possible unfortunately. Did you see last week’s video where I showed how it fits into the house? Chandwell: A tour of my N gauge model railway layout ruclips.net/video/wt8kh2K8LOg/видео.html
Despite being impressed with the roof of this building the takeaway i get from this video is how anyone would (or could) consider Leeds posh. If the member who made the comment had said Ilkley, then that would have been understandable, but Leeds 😮😮😂😂
Hi Michael, what provisions are you going to make regarding drainage for your flat roof? the ridge tiles will form a kind of dam effect for natural drainage down the tiled slopes of the roof. As always a great build though
I did ponder what to do there but in the end I’m leaving it as is. I can’t tell from Google Earth etc what the interface from flat roof to sloping is. I imagine there’ll be something but at N Scale the presence or otherwise of it will make no difference to my enjoyment of the layout as a whole.
@@Chandwell I totally agree with you, but knowing your perseverance for getting details right was the reaon for the query. After all it is only a model in N scale, but what a model!👍

Another master piece from the "Card King".

Another superb job Michael !

A very nice roof to go on a very nice building. Good stuff mate. Arthut

Not just a roof but a summit of the roofmaster's art and not just summat as knocked up by them posh buggers from Leeds.

You might be right!!! I bought the applicator like that years ago but now you mention it, yes, I think I am! 😂👏
