It's great hearing the voices of Curt Gowdy, Monte Moore, Lindsay Nelson and Vin Scully calling these shots. Today, too many announcers have to be "theatrical" with their signature calls. These were "natural" calls, caught up in the moment.
Gene Tenace filled in quite nicely for the injured Reggie Jackson in the 1972 World Series. Jackson injured himself in 1972 stealing home for the Pennant Winning Run in Game 5 of the ALCS.
The A's of that era were probably the best defensive team that was ever put together. Couple that with three 20 game winners (Hunter, Blue and Holtzman), a 15 game winner (Odom) and a Hall of Fame closer (Fingers) and it's not hard to understand how they won.
the glory days The Dynasty Oakland Athletics I hope that Howard Terminal Coliseum can be built one of these days, Oakland deserves more of this, not what they have now.
The only clip here I haven't seen before is the Ray Fosse homer from game 5 of the 1974 World Series. I have seen some of the middle innings of the original NBC telecast but have never seen the Fosse HR called by Monte Moore ! Do you know if the complete NBC TV version of game 5 from 1974 exists ? Where did you find the footage of the Fosse HR ? Fantastic ! I would love to see game 5 in its entirety ! Thanks😊
Unfortunately, the historical significance of television broadcast weren't fully understood until about 1975. Until then the video tapes were sometimes taped over because of expense. Sometimes they're lost in the vaults of their respective networks. The original video tape of Franco Harris "Emaculate Reception" was lost for years and assumed to have been taped over before it was found quite by accident in 1998. You can find it here on RUclips. As for Fosse, he also homered in game 2 of the 1974 ALCS off Baltimore's Grant Jackson. It was a 3 run shot in a 5-0 A's victory. I'd love to see a tape of that.
the reds. the reds. ha ha ha . they were smeared in 70 by the real 'machine' in 72 they were out-thought by the A'S. in 75, the reds, ha ha ha got real lucky to fluke by the red sux

What a bat flip at 3:28 !!!!
As a long time fan of the New York Mets I can only lament that ground ball going through Felix Millian’s legs in Game 1 of the 1973 Series.

It’s amazing how a team that doesn’t have sexy numbers came out and won 3 straight world championships!
Incredible content as always - thank you

ive been trying to find 1972-74 full games of world series
The Reds let a journeyman Tenace beat them. I watched this series, I was in highschool.
Great series and celebration
He filled in quite well for the injured Reggie Jackson.
He was far from a journeyman..I'd look him up.
