    Just wanted to say you’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs with your valuable content and I’ve been researching for years these business models for years just haven’t been able to take the plunge but I’m about ready!! I have a few questions! Do you use the same mock-up for all of your listings? How do you decide which to use or how often to move onto another one? Also, what do you listen to while designing? 🎧 Have a good day!!

I do own a legitimate business LLC and Trademark, founded in 1-26-22 called "The Double Boiler" so now it's just getting to work this weekend, with being off from my day job. Thank you for your information. It helps so much!

    I absolutely love your videos! Simple, straightforward and easy to understand. And an amazing track record! I have been muddling along in this since 2017, and I just haven't gotten any traction in Etsy. You ;mentioned posting in FB groups. Do you mean like making a "for sale" post in groups like local shop & swaps, or are you referring to starting a separate FB business page and levering that somehow? Unfortunately I know less than nothing about online promotion of this type. Do you have any such videos to teach internet dumbies step by step to promote our stores? If not, would you consider making some?

    At what point when you started earning money did you decide to seek financial advice from an accountant? Did you have to register your business? How do you handle taxes?

    • @LibermanConsultingLLC
      @LibermanConsultingLLC 2 года назад +4

      You can start your POD business as a sole proprietor. The liability risk is low for POD. And for liability purposes a business insurance could cover that if you are worry about it. If you would file your taxes yourself, you can create an LLC or LLC taxed as an S Corp. All 3 would work for POD. If you plan on collecting salary and prefer to pay Medicare and Social Security taxes on your salary and not on your entire profit, an S Corp is good for that. If you have a sole proprietor or an LLC, you would pay social security, Medicare tax, and income tax on all your profits whether you distribute it or left it in the business. In general, if your business would involve you spending a lot of time working in it, an LLC taxed as an S Corp is great but has some limitations. An LLC taxed as S Corp or an S Corp allows you to pay yourself and you pay social security and Medicare taxes on your salary and pay income tax on your profit.
      LLC and S Corp require more tax documents to prepare. If you would learn and file your taxes yourself, starting as an LLC or LLC taxed as an S Corp is fine. If you would hire a tax professional to file your taxes, it would cost you money. In that case, it makes sense to start as a sole proprietor until you start making enough to justify the cost associated with business tax returns (1065 and 1120S).
      If you start as a sole proprietor and would hire an employee or a contractor, you should register your business with IRS by requesting an EIN.
      If your sole proprietor would use a name that is not yours, you should file for a DBA (Doing Business as) with your state.
      In any case, you should check with your city to get approval to do business from home.
      If you request an EIN from IRS for your sole proprietor, you should register with your state and get theirs as well, along with state sales tax ID if you need it.
      If you start as a sole proprietor and later want to convert your business to an LLC or LLC taxed as an S Corp, get a Lawyer to file the change with your state for you.
      It is easier to start your business with the business entity you want it to have. You can file it yourself with your state. But again depending on your choice, you have to be on top of your tax returns preparation.
      Even if you start your business as a sole proprietor, go to a community bank and open a checking and saving account for your business. If you don't have an EIN, you would open it with your SSN. Do not use personal bank account for your business. If you would use a credit card, get a business credit card or use one of your personal credit card that has 0 expense on it and you could reserve for your sole proprietor business. If you would use a credit card, get a business credit card or use one of your personal credit card that has 0 expense on it and you could reserve for your sole proprietor business.

    I’m currently just beginning this journey and am finding the design to take me much longer than to push out 3 per day. I’m lucky to get 5 done per week at this point. Can you share any tips on how you come up with this many design ideas and are they mostly or all text based? Thanks so much! Really enjoying your videos and happy to hear you share so much great info!

      I'm in no way a master on the topic, but I figured I'd let you know some of the tips I've picked up to save time along the way that have reduced my work time :)
      *Simple Sells. I've seen a lot of the bestsellers on Etsy that were literally just one or two words in a simple font
      *Learn keyboard shortcuts. Can a and Photoshop (and most other apps used for design) have keyboard shortcuts to make tasks faster, such as pressing T to place a text box.
      *Color Palettes. Create color palettes you can reference for popular color schemes that sell well or that you like
      *Draft. Give yourself a few minutes of draft up composition ideas for text placement, graphic colors, etc. This makes it easier to envision the final product
      *Practice. Just like with any other trade, practice makes perfect. You'll find that the more designs you do, the faster and more efficiently work.
      *Don't focus on how long it takes. especially in the beginning, focus on the quality of the work. It's better to get out only a few good designs a week as opposed to posting hundreds of lazy, ugly designs.
      Hope these help someone!

    Hi Heather amazing videos! ;) You mention that your best sellers were white and black but in another video you say that you had so many issues with the black that you stopped selling it. So would it be a safe bet to go for white and dark gray? Or what colors are the best? Also a lot of people suggest just offering a few colors instead of all the colors due to analysis paralysis. I would honestly go for 2-3 colors max. What are your thoghts? Keep it up and congrats!!!!

    Huge 3 questions about multiples!
    1. How do you deal with using multiple p.o.d. partners and platforms in the same shop? Like say you want to sell jewelry, posters, stickers, and mugs. Then you've got Printify AND ShineOn AND possibly Gooten hooked up to the same shop? How do the orders not get all confused and what goes where?
    2. If someone orders a top and a sticker from printify, but they come from different providers like Monster Digital and Circle Graphics so that you have 2 shipments going to the customer... How would you deal with the seperate shipments? Is it better to only have one kind of product or production partner in shop in your opinion to avoid this? If not, can you show us if you have multiple partners in a shop and how that would work?
    And 3! How would you sell a "set" of items like a bundle of stickers, say, if the profit margins are too low to sell individually? Do you have to go into printify and change the order manually for that? I'm curious how you sold bundles with your shirts. :)
    I really love and appreciate your content! Thanks for making it, I'm enjoying it.

    • @itsheatherstudio
      @itsheatherstudio  2 года назад

      I have found success in multiple colors per one listing. The reason behind this is that if someone doesn't like the color they won't buy so you item in search will not show. If you offer different colors they will have more likelihood of buying per the color they like and that boosts you listing. You can always experiment doing multiple listings with different colors as the main mockups(but the items are the EXACT same listings with multiple colors options) and go from there as well.

    I’m confused what you were spending so much money on every month that you needed to increase your credit limit? Usually with print on demand there are no costs to you. When the customer pays that pays the POD company. It would be nice if you shared what niches helped you to grow and what SEO strategies did you use? You said you researched the Etsy algorithm, can you share some info on that?

    • @itsheatherstudio
      @itsheatherstudio  2 года назад +5

      Hi Sharon, POD works by that when you get a sale, the POD company does not take direct payment and you do not get the profit from the sale until a few days later(It can take up to 3 days with a holiday plus a weekend). The customer pays you, the you have to pay the POD company for the order. Etsy or the platform you sell on usually pays you after a few days(you have to request it). If you wait for the funds, you can essentially pay the item, however this method is very difficult and becomes confusing over time and doing your pay offs on a weekly basis is the best practice. For example, my Etsy and Shopify payout is every Tuesday. If I have returns, order cancellations or anything else during the week and withdraw during that time it can get confusing. On Tuesday that's when I subtract my credit card amount from the revenue Etsy pays and I get my profit. Then I put 30% of profit to taxes, 10%+ to business savings and the rest is takehome.
      I personally got a credit card because 1) You get points(I've made 5K in credit card rewards in the past year) 2) There's many other benefits to the business credit card 3) It establishes your business credit 4)You want the quickest possible shipping so by paying the POD company before the check comes in from Etsy or anywhere else, you pay for shipping to quick start your production especially when December hits and POD stores are behind. I have videos coming next going over these topics though! :)

    Was this selling products that were unique and not yet tapped into (aka. Saturated)? Can an etsy seller still be successful selling a product that is already being sold heavily by other etsy sellers? Or do you need a unique idea not yet tapped into yet?
    What are your thoughts?

    After your profits that you mentioned.... do you still have to pay taxes to the IRS out of those profits, or was that already included in ur deductions?
    Also if I may ask, do u pay the IRS taxes quarterly or yearly?

    • @itsheatherstudio
      @itsheatherstudio  2 года назад +5

      Yes! You take 30% and set aside for taxes. However, I had my books reconciled and 10K was after taxes. I made 16K in November. I do pay quarterly taxes! My next video is over taxes/ LLC things as well since I've had many questions over this. :)

    Do you need an LLC for a business credit card?

    • @itsheatherstudio
      @itsheatherstudio  2 года назад +1

      No you do not! Usually most credit card companies require a document relating to your business registration so I did have to register a DBA with my local county office. It took less than 1 hour to do in person and then I submitted it to the credit card company.
