Woah!! That's my first time listen to Hua Chenyu!! Chills running through my veins!! It scares me to the point that I forgot to breathe!! Surely he is a great performer!! And now I realized that The Singer show has brought up singers with enormous talents and perfect skills. Truely magnificent
that show is for veteran singer only, you need to be a star in your own country to sing at this show. Each singer can sing only 2 of their songs. Other songs they sing, they rearange it to do something different. The quality is very high.

Im glad that you could feel precisely what Hua was trying to communicate to the audience in this performance. This is Hua for you when he veers towards the artistic side of his ingenuity. The song is a sad reflection of his childhood. He elucidated before the performance that he wanted to convey via the performance how he felt when he was a child. As a child he was introverted and insecure as his parents divorced when he was young and his dad had no time for him. He badly desired love, care and concern but at the same time he rejected people as he was afraid of getting hurt. He felt terrible pain due to his conflicted emotions and he felt himself being slowly enveloped by darkness and insanity. This song was a reflection of the struggles he felt in his sentiments. The loneliness, confusion, desperation, angst and frustration. He confessed later that the song was an extremely bold attempt and he was prepared that many people would be not able to accept it. Many reactors commented that they were haunted by this song for days after watching this performance, albeit in a positive way.

He was raised in a wealthy family whose parents were always away traveling. With his parents always away, all Hua had was his music and isolation. His love was his music; playing and composing. This song is about the depression and then near madness he went into and then overcame. It took a lot of courage to sing this song. I was amazed at your interpretation. It was right on. Now that you know the story you can listen again. I was lucky enough to hear the story BEFORE the song. It is haunting and very, very sad. You picked one heck of a performance as first(-ish) impression on Hua Hua. This is his most artistic performance. I don't usually recommend this to people as first impression vid. Because, it's his most "edgy" and the dark undertone risk turning some people off. Even Hua Hua said he expected to get last place for that week's episode, as the planned laughters may creep out the audience. Fortunately, the audience have the same appreciation of art as you do, and as many of us do :) . Hua Hua got 2nd place that week. Glad you enjoyed it. "Haunting" and "Beautifully Tragic" all right. You summed it up nicely. When I saw it the first time, "Tortured Soul" came to my mind. I found it extremely captivating, a very edge of my seat performance.
