Thanks a lot for reacting to this amazing song. Asami held a very emotional speech before GLORY TO THE WORLD. Here's a translation of it... Thank you. Once again, we want to tell you how thankful we are that we could have a night like tonight that we'll never forget. Thank you so much. Having the very existence of live shows disappear on us like it did it felt like our connection with all of you had suddenly vanished. That made the year very hard for us. It made us think about a lot of things, like what music is to us and what LOVEBITES is... It felt like our hearts were about to break. Each of us felt lots of different things. But, what we always thought back to was all of you. All of your faces, voices, cheering us on. We remembered that and that became a huge motivating force for each of us. So in the end we spent the past year doing what we could what we knew we had to do, without losing sight. And we were finally able to bring you something new. We're so grateful for each and every one of you, so this past year wasn't a waste after all. If not for this year we might not have realized just how precious this time with you all is. So I don't believe that there has ever been a single thing in our past, nor in our future, that could be considered a waste. And we realized that music is really something that we couldn't live without. From now on we want to live a life full of music. We couldn't imagine a world without it, so we know that the only option is for us to look straight ahead and move forward. We know that it's still going to be a while before things can go back to how they were, but we want to carry on beside you guys all the same. Will you be walking there beside us? (applause) Thank you. We'll keep on giving you the best we can give. It's the one thing we can do and the one thing that we wish for. Thank you for always supporting us. We dedicate this song to you we love and the entire world... GLORY TO THE WORLD
You’re not gonna like this, but you’ll wish you’d seen the MV first, because you would be saying to yourself “there’s no way they can pull that off live”. Then you watch this in awe. I adore them all, but particularly Asami. The speech before this makes me want to reach into the screen and give her a big hug. And I love how, during synchronised duets she stands like a proud mom pointing at M&M with a beautiful smile on her face. Happy birthday again for yesterday Asami (in Japan, not in the U.K… where it’s still her birthday). And to top it I discovered today she has the same birthday as the only vocalist I would now rate above her… the late, great, Ronnie James Dio.
From the EP "Glory, Glory to the World" Opening track "Glory to the World"was composed by Midori. She was inspired by attending Sunday services at black churches whenever she visited the US or the UK. She always liked gospel music, and said the song has elements of gospel and a section of pipe organ. Midori cited the unison and harmony between the two guitars and bass on "Glory to the World" as the most difficult thing on the EP due to how fast some phrases are. Lyric: Asami Music: Midori, Mao Arrangement: Lovebites/Mao
saw a homemade fan video a few months ago with all of the miyako and midori solos in one. this should be added as an example of perfect harmonizing and synchronization. never seen 2 guitarists that play so well together. do you realize if one note is off or played a split second out of time it would blow the whole solo up. haven't seen it yet and probably never will. and the human metronome haruna NEVER missed a beat that i've ever heard.
LOVEBITES - Glory to the World lyrics: Everything around us will fall into dark When you keep on looking into the sadness Nobody in this world may ever be free My hearts will shiver and I can't take deep breath But rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify The dawn will come and bring the light in this world Grace to my heart, Hallelujah I know you really care for me So I leave everything in your hands You'd walk with me all the way Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me Standing in nowhere and searching for meanings A sleepless night haunting us like a shadow A blur in the future, the fear of unknown There will come a time where we can leave everything behind Breeze are running through the land and endless to the sky Together we will make it through this deep night Grace to my heart, Hallelujah I know you really care for me So I leave everything in your hands You'd walk with me all the way Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me And rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify The dawn will come and bring the light and lead us to a new world Grace to my heart, Hallelujah I know you really care for me So I leave everything in your hands You'd walk with me all the way Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all Wherever you go, this world that we breathe together, Nothing more precious ----- lyrics: asami music: midori & Mao arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)
Great review. That little talk is the ending part of a short speech given by Asami. She talked how they were suppressed by the virus situation and almost gave in, and the part you were talking about is "We dedicate this song to you all beloved ones and to the world....Glory to the World". That was what she said. About J Bond vibe, I think that is a kind of common chord progression.
Love the faster side of these ladies! Anyway, answering to your question, in one of Lovebites interviews, they were asked if each band members have any pre-performance routines. Haruna's answer is 'Eat, a lot!' 🤣 🥁 🔥
At the start of the song she was emotional because she came from a speech of around a minute where she was telling the audience that during COVID they had missed them a lot thinking on their past concerts like Wacken and all that, and they were very happy to perform at last. Glory to the World is one of the few songs composed by Midori, and she inspired in the gospel chant in some churches of the black community during a travel through the USA.
Yes, I have the Blue-Ray. I didn’t understand what Asami is saying but definitely she was so emotional. This is an uplifting song with amazing instrumentation.
I swear every time I listen to them live, I think it just has to be a lie. I think to myself there is no way that live can be played to such perfection. Once you watch the music video you'll just shake your head watching this again. From strictly a musical standpoint, I think Lovebites are one of, if not the best live performers in the rock/metal world. There is only one other concert that I've ever been to where the live sound rivals this, and that was Santana at the Cape Cod Coliseum in 1981. The difference is Lovebites plays at 10x the speed with what I feel is 10x the difficulty. For one I find it amazing at this speed how backing tracks just melt into the song. Miyako & Midori are a guitar pair that literally should never be apart for the rest of their career. Absolutely the best guitar duo I know. Haruna is unexplainable really. She keeps up a super fast steady beat, but she is constantly moving around her kit will fills instead of just playing straight through. Asami's voice fits so amazingly well with this music. As usual, great reaction to a great band.
I agree with everything you said (except I've never seen Santana in concert LOL). However, the same experience can be said for when I saw Jimmy Buffett in concert, but JB is just so chill and relaxed compared to LB. It's totally amazing they do this live! Thanks!
I believe this tour (which was cut short by Covid lockdowns) was the first time Glory to the World had been played live, and of course they nailed it. You should check out the MV as well. I think there's some synth orchestration and layered vocal harmonies added to the live version, probably as a backing track, to replicate the MV sound as closely as possible. But performing those solos live is quite a feat. You'd expect the MV version would be done in several takes, but there is no such luxury when you're live on stage. The whole blu ray is superb, I'd also rank it with the Nightwish Wacken performance as a recording masterpiece for a live concert (from the same Finnish production house, no surprise). Great reaction, thanks for playing this version.
Only Lovebites could have composed a song like this one; their musicianship is just breathtaking. I have the Blue-Ray; I don’t understand what Asami is saying at the beginning but she was so emotional and sobbing.
The performance of this song on the MV (PV) is beautiful, but it is surprising that playing this song live makes it so beautiful and powerful. Isn't it only Lovebites that "live is of higher quality"? It's an amazing band.
love this song. Lovebites, that says it all. hope you got to see Whiskey Dust's YT streamed concert last night. it was amazing, pure hard rock that lasted an hour. It is up on their YT page.
The DVD or blueray of this concert along with 5 of a kind and Nightwish Showtime storytime are my favourite things to put in my player, which is very regular judging the garbage that's on all the TV channels these days.
That DVD belongs to the wife. She prefers Tarja where I edge more towards Floor, might be because I followed Floor from her time with After forever and Revamped. And I am not allowed to touch her DVD collection.
Midori needs more space in the band composition. I know miyako and mao are monster writing music. But this is the prove that our fitness shreed goddess can do really well.
I agree, both this performance and the MV are worth reacting to. Re. putting out a DVD with a screw-up: consider that HMND is essentially a live one-take, two hours long, 18 songs at warp speed, and it was essentially perfect. The only comparable feat might be some performances of Beethoven's symphonies by top orchestras. But in rock? Never.
That was only the last phrase of the speech that Asami did and it was a lot more longer.. 2:00 Here you have it: "Once again, I am truly grateful for this day. Thank you very much. It's been a very difficult year for me, because I feel like the existence of live music has suddenly become something distant, and my connection with all of you has been severed. It made me think about many things. The meaning of music for us, and LOVEBITES for us. There were times when I felt like my heart was going to break. Miyako getting on the risers and climbing the stairs all in heels while pregnant still makes me nervous. Also, I love Haruna's cymbal work under the guitar solos. As for the mistake thing, they've published their mistakes. In "Swan Song" from FoaK, there's a part where Miyako drops her left hand from her guitar and rolls her eyes. I don't know what she did or didn't do, but I know that look and gesture because I've seen so many musicians - myself included - do it when they mess up. In "Break the Wall" from DotD, Miyako's bends don't sound quite right. I suspect her Dean Switchblade's Floyd Rose is fighting her, and I suspect that's the reason why she uses a Les Paul in the version from FoaK because it sounds flawless there. I think it's on DotD where Midori trips and nearly falls in front of Asami, but Midori catches herself. Also, the version of "Scream For Me" from DotD has Midori doing a crosshands solo and it doesn't sound like she pulls it off. Lastly, as much as I love and adore Asami, there's times where she's inconsistent. Nothing big, really, but she doesn't always stick the landing. Miho and Haruna are, as far as I can tell, flawless. These are all little nitpicks that in no way diminishes how great they are, but they're not shy about publishing their errors.
Well that's all good to know! As much as we'd all like to think they are flawless, unfortunately, no one is perfect in ALL ways. Thanks for the info as always!
@@GlassMoonGaming There's also, unbelievably, a moment in Epilogue from 2019 where Miyako misses a note. Astonishing! But all musicians are human, even the best in the world!
james bond vibes in the beginning? me too. anybody missing the unoriented guy? in the occasion of her birthday today (10th of july) asami had some true and open words for her supporters on IG. she is such a great and adorable personality.
By the way don't you think that the dual guitar solo reminds you of Iron maidens solo of phantom of the opera and in parts the solo of a lesser known maiden song Transylvania. What's your take on the similarity?.
That ending!!! Even with Haruna's usual energy she seemed to find an extra gear for that ending. Like Alek Hidell says below sometimes its a pity that you didn't start with the MV as it makes you wonder how they're going to pull it off live. That was certainly the case for me regarding Winds of Transylvania. I'm curious to know why Miyako used a different Dean for this performance from the MV. 🤘🤘🤘
At this point, I'm almost expecting live to be better than MV with superb perfection! I'm still gonna check out the MV though since it's been so recommended. Thanks!
Are you aware of who Mao is?? He is their producer. As with many bands, members have ideas for songs but need help with the structure. That is what Mao does for Lovebites. The exception is Miyako as she does her own arrangements. The final work on the songs are done in Finland. Have you watched any of the bass audition videos? Some of those guys just don't like White Mini-Dress material to me.
Like you said, what can you say at this point about M&M. That harmonized solo, good grief. If ppl don't think they're the best duo in the biz today they need to get their eyes checked, don't like their music, fine, but give credit where credit is due! I mean, if they're off by a half second in that solo it's going to be so obvious. As a duo, they are just untouchable in modern metal. Great react GMG! 🐺 Question: Not to put you on the spot, but you're a drummer, where do you rank Haruna for today's metal drummers? I assume she's not the typical build for a drummer at 4' 9". Could be wrong.
I would rank her up there, just for her stamina alone. I definitely would say there are more technical drummers out there, but as far as modern ones, she definitely holds her own among everyone out there. Thanks!
In the Daughters of the Dawn DVD there are a few mistakes here and there, but these newer DVD's they have improved so much!! 🤘🐺🤘 I too cant wait to see them back!! Haruna!! 😍🥁✨🎶

LOVEBITES - Glory to the World lyrics:
Everything around us will fall into dark
When you keep on looking into the sadness
Nobody in this world may ever be free
My hearts will shiver and I can't take deep breath
But rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify
The dawn will come and bring the light in this world
Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me
Standing in nowhere and searching for meanings
A sleepless night haunting us like a shadow
A blur in the future, the fear of unknown
There will come a time where we can leave everything behind
Breeze are running through the land and endless to the sky
Together we will make it through this deep night
Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Time will come where we feel the love and the reason to be me
And rains will end, and nights will pass, griefs will purify
The dawn will come and bring the light and lead us to a new world
Grace to my heart, Hallelujah
I know you really care for me
So I leave everything in your hands
You'd walk with me all the way
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
Wherever you go, this world that we breathe together,
Nothing more precious

But all musicians are human, even the best in the world!
they’re the best at their craft.
Absolutely!
james bond vibes in the beginning? me too. anybody missing the unoriented guy? in the occasion of her birthday today (10th of july) asami had some true and open words for her supporters on IG. she is such a great and adorable personality.
Happy Birthday, Asami! Thanks!
@@GlassMoonGaming not bad for a metal singer to have birthday the same day as ronnie james dio (he would have become 80 today). have a great sunday.
By the way don't you think that the dual guitar solo reminds you of Iron maidens solo of phantom of the opera and in parts the solo of a lesser known maiden song Transylvania. What's your take on the similarity?.
I think a LOT of their dual guitar parts remind me of Maiden for sure!
Can you tell when Miyako knew she was pregnant? She not wearing heels.
Nice!
I've been told about Mao a few times. I've watched a couple of their bass auditions and I know what ya mean. LOL Thanks!
Question: Not to put you on the spot, but you're a drummer, where do you rank Haruna for today's metal drummers? I assume she's not the typical build for a drummer at 4' 9". Could be wrong.
I would rank her up there, just for her stamina alone. I definitely would say there are more technical drummers out there, but as far as modern ones, she definitely holds her own among everyone out there. Thanks!
@@GlassMoonGaming Works for me!
In the Daughters of the Dawn DVD there are a few mistakes here and there, but these newer DVD's they have improved so much!! 🤘🐺🤘
I too cant wait to see them back!! Haruna!! 😍🥁✨🎶
Haruna Haruna Haruna!
