we spent 7 weeks in the dominican republic | EXPAT LIFE in Cabrera

Today’s video is a little bit different from normal.
Instead of a travel VLOG, this video is more of an unpolished look into our experience living as expatriates in Cabrera, Dominican Republic for 7 weeks this past winter.
When we started this RUclips channel, we did it to keep track of our family’s adventures and favorite memories from our travels. These little clips don’t relate to eachother, but they are some of my favorite moments from our time in the Dominican Republic.

Cabrera is a town of just over 5,000 people on the Dominican Republic’s North Shore. It’s over 2 hours from any of the international airports, meaning there isn’t much tourism here. There is, however, a decent community of expats & snowbirds.
Just to give you an idea on the cost of living here, for the first month we were in Cabrera, we spent $1300 on our modern, centrally located, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house on AirBnB.
Our kids got picked up on the bus each morning at around 8 am and returned each day around 3 pm from their school day at The Hive Adventure WorldSchooling Hub. If you’re curious to learn more about the Hub, I’ll leave the link below.
While our kids were away, we would usually spend our days working at one of the restaurants or internet cafes in town since the wifi at our airbnb was slow and unreliable. We beached and hiked and ate a TON of Dominican typical food at one of the many cafeterias in town.
I am so grateful for this experience living abroad in the Dominican Republic with my family. This is an adventure I know we will never forget!

Cabrera is a very peaceful place. I live in Rio San Juan, The vibe is similar. But there are more foreigners in Cabrera. I wonder why? but I like Cabrera a lot.
