I have an AT44S10 QE long. I just installed a radiator brush 2.25 inch in diameter about halfway down the air cylinder and surprisingly it worked. No ping and the pellet hitting the wood is now louder then me pulling the trigger and hearing that twang. Super happy.
Glad it worked Vinny, it is an annoying sound as the air resinates the hammer hitting the valve stem. I have also found the when you fit a regulator, that also stops the ping as well, but you pay an extra £75 for one of those. LOL
im just about to buy my 1st pcp rifle ..weihrauch hw110 very good reviews and quiet ...then i see videos on the hatsan gladius ive heard its quiet and good ...im wanting at least 50 yards ...plus i like the bullpup look .. £650 is my cash flow at moment so hatsan is looking good so far ,, but i keep seeing good reviews regarding weihrauch hw110 . since you've got a hatsan im guessing you like the bullpup any advice would be grateful
Thanks for the reply, mine is out of warranty because I got it off a friend so it did not carry over unless I got him to do it, but he did not want the hassle. I took the barrel off yesterday and looked down it and it looks ok, me thinking maybe it needs lapping to smooth it out. I an considering changing the barrel for the air arms s200 one as I have the rifle and it's a great barrel and it's the same size just needs a bit of lathe work on the receiver side. With the barrel I have at mo I am lucky to get 65mm groups at 40 yards and if I use USB pellets at 25 yards I am hitting dinner plates sized groups so the barrel has to go otherwise I might as well take it to Portsmouth dockyard and hand it over to the navy for a anchor. Will let you know how I get on. Catch you later Garry.
Hope it goes well. I know what you are going through. If the CZ barrel works, then that would definitely do the job. I have an old Mk1 S200 and it can keep up with rifles three times the cost, which is down to the CZ barrel.
Hi, great vid, I bought the lane de-pinger and found it still to loud so I put your bottle brush idea and it's quieter. How did you get on with your barrel in the end, mine is still pretty crap thinking of putting a cz barrel at some point.
Hello Garry. Yes, luckily because it was still under warranty it was sent back to Edgar Brothers, who also realised that it was a barrel problem. It was changed and it now shoots great. It isn't pellet fussy and gets on with most of the shorter skirted brands such as H&N Feild Target Trophy, Webley Accupell, Falcon Accuracy Plus, Webley VMX Power Pell, JSB Exact Heavy etc. When the winds not blowing it is capable of 1/4 inch groups out to 40 yards, so that is a pass as far as I am concerned. Glad you have quietened down your Hatsan. It's strange how the bottle brush works out so good over the de pinger from Robert Lane, it just goes to show which technique work the best, but you only know by trying. It certainly deadens the ping doesn't it. You tend to notice it more when your ear is right next to the action on fireing, but you can tell the difference when you stand next to it while someone else fires it. I am hoping to get my rifle regulated. This also stops the ping, as the regulator sits between the valve and the inside of the air cylinder which stops the resonation. I plan to get it done by the chap at Air Rifle Tech who speicalises in tuning the Hatsan brand. His prices are very good. Depending on regulator fitted, he can do the job from between £160 - £170. The difference in cost is for drilling out an exhaust release hole in the cylinder for the Robert Lane regulator, over the Altaros regulator, which is self venting and doesn't require a hole drilled. The price even includes drilling out wider of the transfer port and a fine tune, so will definitely make the rifle shoot more concistantely than it already does. Here is a link to his website. www.airrifletech.co.uk/ He also has a RUclips page if you type in Air Rifle Tech on RUclips showing some of the work that he does. Good luck with your Hatsan. Give the barrel a good clean and try some H&N FTT, Webley Accupell, JSB Exact Heavy's and Falcon Accuracy Plus through the barrel, as it likes all of them in my rifle. The Webley VMX Power Pell are the most accurate budget priced pellet so far, so they are a good start at less than £6 in .22.
Yes, hopefully a "Lancet" regulator by Robert Lane. Fitting would be easy if it weren't for the anti tamper. The actual fitting to the air cylinder is easy enough, but to fine tune it you need to access the hammer spring adjustment and possibly increase the size of the transfer port. Both are made difficult by manufacturers fitting anti tamper in the UK. Not a legal requirement, but one that the manufacturers agreed to do between themselves. In most cases after fitting a regulator to the Hatsan rifles, you loose about 2 ft/lbs of pressure for some reason, so you need to increase this by increasing the hammer tension, or opening up the transfer port. I found this out when fitting one to a Hatsan Galation. I will probably get it professionally fitted by Air tech, who specialize in tuning and regulating the Hatsan pre charge rifles, and they are very competitively priced as well.
you can also use a radiator brush, same thing just a lot longer so enough for about 5 guns £2.50 or son on the bay. I think bristles are a bit longer and stiffer on the radiator brush. I have just done my AT-44 and it is now whisper quiet no ping at all.
If it's not fitted with an anti tamper, you can use an alan key. There should be a hole to the rear of the action that the alan key fits through. Clock wise lowers the power, while anti clockwise increases it. I believe you have to cock the side lever and also put another small alan key, or metal rod in a hole by the side of the cocking lever to hold the hammer in place, while adjusting the alan screw. If it needs doing p;rofessionally in the UK, Air Rifle Tech specialise in installing regulators and tuning the Hatsan brand, which includes removing the anti tamper for fine tuning. www.airrifletech.co.uk/
Airgun Sniper-Elite Anti tamper is not fitted, I have already could adjust the gun right now but while adjusting a spring might have felt down, now I don't where to fit, I s will show you, do you use whatsapp ? If so give me your number
Hello Kenlum, here is a link to the schematic for the Bullboss, which shows the parts and their order of fitting. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1711/3177/files/BULLBOSS.PDF?18406802655913783755
I tried this a few times and found that by adjusting the distance from the valve to the brush made a difference. Try it about two inches in front of th exhaust valve, instead of right up against it.

Your fix for the annoying ping worked, I did it to my P12 and Hatsan gladius. 100% of the ping is gone from both guns thanks very much !!!

just done this mod, brilliant fix, thanks..
That's awesome!!!

And if you have a pressure regulator installed in the cylinder, where do you place the brush? behind the reg...
Thank you for this informative video!
You're welcome, it's just an alternative at quietening down the action.

Theres a video on RUclips regarding the anti tamper screw. By the way great vid

Can you please show how to increase the power of Hatsan Bullboss

Airgun Sniper-Elite Thank you I ll try and get back
Nice mod! I love that Gladius. How acurate is for 100m?
I did this with my BT65 and absolutely NO difference . I used exactly the same brush you did . Not sure why I got no improvement.

🤓👍
Great info but a 48 second intro? Unnecessarily (my opinion) stretched to lengthen total video time.
Slow it down a bit man ,how the hell is one supposed to digest what your explaining , flipping at such a fast rate, ReeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeR
