Overall, "Little Lies" is remembered for its catchy chorus, Christine McVie's emotive vocals, and its place as one of the standout tracks from Fleetwood Mac's extensive discography.
Rest In Peace Christine McVie...
Met Christine. Live on Rock Line live radio broadcast. Had seen them live on '77 Rumor's tour. Stevie Nicks kissed me on Rock Line for my wartime service. Good talks with band members that night on Rock Line. Photos of it to this day some are treasures of my life.
A band with 3 distinctive lead singers. At their peak they produced incredible pop
Christine was singing in Fleetwood Mac before Stevie Nicks was in the group
The late Christine Mcvie wrote and sang lead on this.
R.I.P. Christine McVie (keyboards/ piano/ vocals) of Fleetwood Mac... She wrote some of their best songs:
'Everywhere'... "Don't stop" ... 'You make loving fun' ... 'Hold me' ... 'Say you love me'... 🔥🔥
With Fleetwood Mac, the lead vocal for a particular song was usually sung by whoever wrote the song. Therefore, they technically had 3 lead singers, Stevie, Christine and Lindsey. When producing an album, each would be given their share of time, which normally worked out to about 3-4 songs per singer/songwriter. With Stevie being such a prolific songwriter, and vinyl albums being so limited on space, she began her solo career as a way to get her songs heard.
Christy Mc Vie on lead here. She was married to bassist John. Her maiden name is Christine Perfect....just like her voice...Perfect!
Stevie’s voice sends chills through me every time.
This is a great song by Fleetwood Mac, loved all their songs from the 70’s.👍👏👏👏💜💜💜☮️
Christine was essential for their success. Her innocent voice was so easy on the soul. Great songwriter! ❤
So much talent in this group, it’s mindnumbimg. Who else has the likes of Stevie and Lindsay sinking backup harmonies.
That is Christine Mcvee you should really check out songbird it is beautiful with Christine on lead vocal
Other great Fleetwood Mac songs by Christine McVie: Say You Love Me, You Make Loving Fun, Songbird, Over My Head. She also co-wrote Don't Stop.
Three lead singers in this era of Fleetwood Mac....This was Christine Mcvie.....R.I.P.
Everywhere with Christine McVie in the lead vocals is really good.
If you keep going down the FM rabbit hole you'll be surprised by a lot of their sounds. They are very diverse and can go from ballads to blues to hard, hard rock.
The band picked up 2 stragglers on the streets of L.A. and morphed into a planetary-recognized band. Travelled the world, and gave us a dozen songs that anyone would recognize.
Sticking with 87, there is an awesome song called, midnight blue, from Lou Gramm (formerly of foreigner).
You might not recognize the song title, but you might have heard it back in the 80s. It was the most requested song of 1987.
Fleetwood Mac named after mick Fleetwood the drummer and John mcvie (MACvie) the bassist!
"You Can Go Your Own Way!" Btw Stevie Nicks and LIndsay Buckingham, effectively the lead singer and guitarist of FM are both Americans.
ENTIRE ALBUM IS AWESOME...."tango in the night"...
Christine McVie
This was the third incarnation of them and the most successful. They lasted about 40 years together with a lot of inside problems, but always agreed it was about the music and it kept them all together. Some of their pre Stevie and Lindsay music is very good and well worth the listen. Try "Hypnotized" when Bob Welch was the lead singer. Christine fronted and wrote this song and had several hits of her own.
These were simple yet melodic and harmonic .. the key thing here to notice is there are their arrangements are just hypnotic
Hey guys I recommend Fleetwood Mac's Big Love.
Totally! Big Love is an absolute!!!
Christine had such a beautiful vocal range ❤ RIP
Thanks for the tune gentlemen!!
You should check out the original Black Magic Woman by Fleetwood Mac. The band was formed by Peter Green. The band got it’s name from Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. There’s a great live black and white video on RUclips. Famously covered by Santana. The original is also ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Christine has always been my favorite member of the group. She wrote most of their best songs, in my opinion, including this one.
Tusk, by Fleetwood Mac is a different style of song…the video is about 45 yrs. Old…always enjoyed it.
One of my faves!
The two women and the lead guitarist all sing together and separate on songs from the band but mostly Stevie Nikks. The one singing lead in this song in Christine Mcvie who was well known for her singing as well as SN.
I miss the beautiful and talented Christine McVie.. 💚
You know you have a solid lineup when you have 3 lead singers in a band that can take you anywhere.
Agreed! We are still being educated by the comments about who the lead singer was lol!!
My all-time favorite group of the 70s and 80s. I have all of their vinyl record albums in my collection, and of course, Stevie Nicks hits. ❤❤❤
Stevie Nicks was only one of three lead singers the band had, and they were all great songwriters. That's why they were able to fire off so many hits. Many of their songs were duet or group vocals like this track.
check out The Chain and Dreams from the 1977 album Rumours 👍👍
Fleetwood Mac was founded in 1968 and has had many line ups. This being their most popular line up had three lead singers: Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.
Nice to hear a Christie McVie song with her in the lead for a change. Shows the versatility of the group that 3 different people took the lead in different songs.
That bass line bops!
Christine sings lead on this one. They had 3 lead singers. Stevie, Christine and Lindsay the guitar player. RIP Christine
Rare case where I've heard the song a million times on radio in the distant past but don't recall ever seeing the video even though it came out in MTV's heyday. It's a great pop song. I miss Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham's more organic and soulful vocals and the production is glossier than a crystal ball, but that works in the context of pure, sugary pop. Which now makes me think that maybe this was their response to...ABBA?
Check out Landslide LIVE.....beautiful heartfelt song
Yaaaaaas!
Fleetwood Mac is so underrated. ❤
Rumours was a great album, possibly because everyone was breaking up. Pain can drive art ❤
❤️ FM and the 80’s😊.
This was off the album Tango In The Night, which did really well in 1987 (got to #7). If you do more off this album, you'll like "Seven Wonders" and "Big Love".
I totally forgot this song. And i heard it constantly and everywhere at the time. It is a good song.
You should definitely react to the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green on vocals
Fleetwoood Mac - Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass ... John McVie married and divorced Christine Perfect and then they added the two named leaders of a band call Buckingham Nicks, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks
They're a British-American band. Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham are Americans. Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie are British. Christine - the lead singer here - just passed away recently.
So happy I caught them in concert before Lindsay left the band (again) and Christine passed away. Also saw them a couple of times when I was a teenager.
Another huge hit featuring Christine McVie on lead is: Over My Head
Rhiannon live is a must. You guys will love it.
This entire album is fire
I post records on my Instagram page and those jerks gave me 1 like I'm like whatever Haters !! This is the jam! Rest in peace Christine McVie. Thanks for the reaction.
Haters gon hate! Lol! This was the jam!!
Stevie wasn't "the lead singer". It was her, Lindsey and Christine. They all sang lead, backup and wrote songs. This is a Christine McVie track. There are different "eras" of Fleetwood Mac. The earlier versions of the band were a Blues band. After 1974, they become by far the most well known version once Stevie and Lindsey join the band.
My favourite Fleetwood Mac song is still Seven Wonders.
Christine McVie sang - she also wrote "Don't Stop"
Excellent video, guys. Thanks. I like Christine McVie's songs, particularly her '80's synth song, "Everywhere." She was a bit overshadowed by, Stevie Nicks.
Christine McVie started out in a British blues band called Chicken Shack, check them out
You will love “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac, one of my personal favorites
I’m pretty sure that they don’t fit into the “county rock band” category. The band was originally from The UK, but this particular band lineup was comprised of three Brits, and two Americans. Stevie and Lindsay didn’t join the band until about 1974, and the lineup had changed a few times up to that point. Their catalog is sometimes divided by fans into three distinct periods. The “Peter Green era”, the “Bob Welch” period, and the longest running “Stevie and Lindsey” version.
My first experience seeing them live was in 1975. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸🇬🇧
There were some folk and bluegrass influences in Buckingham's style of play but not really country. He played around with a lot of different styles. The only time FM truly went country rock was with the ill begotten and short lived Time (1995) version with Billy Burnette and Bekka Bramlett - who also later on became a country duo for a period.
Christine McVie is the lead vocalist on this. If you want a heartbreaker listen to Song Bird. It’s only her & the piano & the rest of the band would cry
Fire
In 1967, they were a blues group
Christine McVie on lead vocals
I'm excited that you haven't really gotten into Fleetwood Mac yet. There is so much. The Chain to start with.
I'd say "The Chain" is probably their signature tune.
If you ever have about an hour to kill, I would suggest watching the VH-1 Special "Behind the Music: Fleetwood Mac". They had some wild stuff going on. And alot of cocaine.
Christine Mcvee is the keyboardist and the writer of this
Gotta check out Fleetwood Mac's - Big Love and Over My Head!
Gotta try the chain. Now thats a masterpiece.
Fleetwood mac started out as a blues band. Nicks and Buckingham joined the band about 1974ish
And while you're on the subject of Stevie .. check out a duet from even before this with Tom Petty .. I'm not going to tell you the name you have to do your own homework .. but its just as awesome
There were two incarnations of the Band; the 60's had the great Peter Green on guitar. It was straight up blues. He left, and the band replaced him with Lindsey Buckingham. Lindsey and Stevie Nicks were a couple, both romantically and musically, and he insisted that she be included in the band. The mid 70's were dominated by the sounds they made on the Rumors Album, where the songs were written about their failed romantic, or successful romances, with each other. The bass player, John McVie, is married to the keyboardist and vocalist, Christine. She fell in love with Lindsey and that pissed Stevie off. Lindsey was a butterfly, landing on every pretty flower. Cocaine had much to do with it all. The songs they wrote from that pain are classics and it is fascinating to watch them perform live.
Best live guitar thrashing is Lynard skynard - free bird in Oakland 1977!! You have to wait for it because it’s at the end!! Or Black Sabbath live playing paranoid or war pigs from 1970
Great song! If you would like to dig deeper: try "Big Love" live acoustic version by Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Macs guitarist. Its just unbelievable!
they were a different band to when they first started in the 60s... Stevie and Lindsey joined a little later in the US
Stevie Nicks was not THE lead singer, she was A lead singer in Fleetwood Mac.
Christine Macvee also was a lead singer. Sadly she died
RIP lovely lady Christine McVie wrote "Little Lies" with Eddy Quintela, whom she married in 1986 seven months before the album was released. It's not a song you would expect two newlyweds to write, but it's clearly not about their relationship. McVie didn't need personal inspiration for her storylines, but this one could have been influenced by her breakup with her first husband (and bandmate) John McVie, or her relationship with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. She and Quintela split up in 2003. Peace out.
Fire 🔥
The Mac has 3 singers/songwriters…Stevie, Christine (RIP) and Lyndsey.
Many many wonderful songs! You guys should check out their song Tusk great drumming!
Could this be any more 80s? lol The hair and clothes really date the video. :) RIP Christine McVie.
Corey one of their songs was in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 usually their songs about one of the band member we talk about Taylor Swift making songs about their ex well Steve had her ex singing the song with her and vice versa on him having Stevie sing his song he wrote about her lol
The ability to OBJECTIVELY listen without pausing and always, ALWAYS, looking for the positive in a song before bringing up the negative.
Hell of a rabbit hole fellas.
Original (Peter Green era) line up was a straight up British blues band, fantastic.
Then Buckingham/Nicks joined and they went polar opposite to blues.
Love both line ups though.
The drummer and band founder is named Mick Fleetwood .hince the name Fleetwood Mac
so 80S
You Make Loving Fun or Go Your Own Way. Classic 70s stuff off of Rumors lp
Stevie was NOT the lead singer ... she was ONE of the lead singers. There was also Lindsey Buckingham (guitarist) and Christine McVie (RIP, keyboards). AND ... actually, Christine McVie is the lead singer on THIS track. Definitely need to go back to the earlier recordings of THIS version of the band (they've changed a LOT since the 60's). I would go back to the previous couple albums, like Fleetwood Mac (self-titled) and Rumours, which is where most of their greatest hits come from. This one from Tango In The Night ... other big hits from this album were Big Love (Lead Vocals: Lindsey Buckingham) and Everywhere (Lead Vocals: Christine McVie).
I named my rescue doggie Stevie Nixx. ❤😊
by '80's' you mean the last time you ever heard something good?
I just plain prefer Christine singing lead over Stevie, her voice is so beautiful. RIP
🐐 🐐 🐐
Tusk is a great song by them.
The Chain
Try the acoustic version of Big Love. Phenomenal guitar playing by Lindsey Buckingham
Gypsy if you liken Stevie
Stevie Nicks is not the lead singer of Fleetwood Mac. There was no lead singer of the band. Some songs had Lindsey on lead, some with Stevie on lead and some with the late Christine McVie on lead such as this gem.
I have to say that Lindsey Buckingham's makeup was distracking! 😂❤❤❤✌️
I love them. My first concert ever. But the 80's were horrible when it came to so much! ❤😂😂
No way! Guyliner FTW 😂
YOU SHOULD TRY SOME REALLY EARLY FLEETWOOD MAC BEFORE STEVIE AND BUCKINGHAM WHEN THEY WERE VERY MUCH A BLUES BAND, BLACK MAGIC WOMAN FROM THAT TIME PERIOD IS OUTSTANDING POSSIBLY THE BEST THING THEY EVER DONE.
