Beautiful story which reveals how it is not the efforts of men, but only the Lord through his love who changes our hearts, as he did once again today for me through the celebrations of this Holy Friday. Thanks for this vidéo !

The idealistic priest had unrealistic expectations which were not met. He expected his parishioners to change in three years by his own efforts. After three years he was disappointed in them and in himself. In his mind they failed and he had failed. Had he succeeded, he would have been satisfied with himself. He would have felt self-gratification which is pride. Instead he felt dissatisfied with himself. He felt dejected in his failure instead of feeling pride in his success. He made his parishioners' spiritual well-being about himself, a matter of pride. When he realized it wasn't about himself, but about Christ and his parishioners' relationship with Christ, he no longer felt a dejected failure. Christ judges and determines the state of his parishioners' souls, not him. It was the state of his own soul that needed changing for the better. It took three years for his own soul to change for the better. Christ had patience with him. He in turn could have patience with his parishioners who weren't changing as fast as he wanted.
