I didn't think it would be this hard to swap the fuel pump out and install the one in the fuel cell. I did run into a problem and had a pretty bad outcome. I did get the fuel cell pretty much all but mounted. unfortunately, thats about as far as I got. Let me know if you enjoyed the video!!!

Your Trent & Allie and Trent's Garage channels are VERY well shot and edited. These episodes could be aired on any of the DIY- or car-type cable channels. The content is always engaging. Just wanted to congratulate you. WELL DONE! Please keep them coming! :)
Hey Trent, have you ever thought about doing a live show so people who have done what you're doing could give their input before you do something you're unsure of?
I love watching you build this truck.
The purpose of this rig is to overcome obstacles, it is only fitting that you would need to overcome obstacles during the build.
Trent no need to apologise, what you are doing is so complicated I admire what you are doing. It's no wonder you come across problems, it must be frustrating when you have caused the problem yourself.
Keep at it Trent, from Mike. ☝
Getting to watch Trents Garage is like a bonus episode with you guys. So neat to watch you work on the truck. Can't wait to see it crawl those rocks.
Hi Trent! Silicone sealer is not fuel resistant. Get yourself a nice o ring 😊
I came here to say this. Fuel will eat through all sorts of materials. Make sure you use the right material for the job. You don't want to be replacing clogged fuel filters/injectors replacing fouled spark plugs or pull seized pistons because something has gummed up the engine.
0:24 wonderful that Trent's Garage is sponsored!!
Hi Trent. I've been watching you and Allie for a minute. I originally came over to support your new TG Channel knowing zero about engines, tearing apart trucks etc. I still know very little but this 59 year old woman really enjoys watch and learning.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Looking forward to seeing the end result of this build...and more. 🤙
Hope you're using silicone as a generic term & not literally. Petrol/gasoline eats silicone. Apart from that, I'm enjoying being on this journey with you & other viewers. It's a mammoth project you've taken on but very exciting. Thanks for the fantastic videos you keep putting out on both this channel & Trent & Allie.
I have been where you are my friend and the best advice I can offer you is to lay everything out and mock it all up even if you just put the axles under it and accessories on the motor just to get a look at your clearances for things like drive lines and suspension components, mufflers, skid plates and so on. not to mention it will help motivate you to keep going because you will hopefully see where it is going and find a path to get there. Keep up the good work and don't forget everything will take 3 times longer then you plan for it.
I love the camera person's snort at 17:45.😆
Are we there yet?😎
Trent, you never cease to amaze me!
Trent, I’ve been building drag race cars 4 years now! I’m extremely jealous of ur welding skills! Beautiful work! 👍❤️
You're so funny, Trent - this is your actual area of expertise, and you still ask if it might work. 😂
You're brilliant 😉
To offer immutable evidence that I know nothing I have never heard of a fuel cell; or, more accurately, I have never seen one. This is what makes Trent’s Garage such a good watch. Trent explains each step, but, because he is doing some of these installations for the first time his play by play is not esoteric, which it certainly could be. He pulls up his sleeves and dives right in. Like Greg Louganis.
I can tell you excelled in math. The only thing I remember about from algebra is “Dear algebra stop looking for your x she’s not coming back and don’t ask Y”.
Trent, I’m really excited to see you start this engine!
Dang bummer about the pump, taking shape though. Appreciate your sharing. I’ll watch for the next one
I like the way you put the pipes out for extra brace and I would add one more straight across from pipe to pipe under the back edge that would make the tank never move again. If the fuel line is flex fuel line coming from the main hard line would it not be easier to just replace the old rubber fuel line with new and make it the length you need it to be then just the fitting to the end.
Missed you last week. Good to see you getting some time back on the Truggy! Brandon, Allie and you Trent shoot great video.
Great job Mr Trent, best to the family.
At least you are trying something new and exciting. Keep learning, new knowledge, something you can always have and share.
Happy Sunday trent truck is looking great
Hi , I am John and am a master Mechanic , I wouldsuggest that anytime you weld permantly that you tack a suport to the frame aria as the heat will distort the frame . Just a thought , but this will be only an off road , so may not matter much other than handiling .
Most aftermarket fuel cells don't usually fit factory pump assembly well.
Trent, you need to invest in a rubber mallet. LOL. Can't wait for you to start the engine up! That will be so satisfying for you.
Try lowering the mounting brackets for your tank. That will also lower the center of gravity of your fuel tank. Just a suggestion.
Nice video and I am all caught up after taking my vacation 👏👏
Trent @ 16:08 - like everyone all the time! 🤣
Good Sunday morning Trent watching you right now. . Thanks for everything you do. . See you Trent Allie Leo and Brandon. Tomorrow morning my favorite 💙 😊❤
I really glad your working on the truck I know it's SO much more work as professional video editor. I know what this takes. Thanks so much for sharing. Sorry about the pump not fitting. Thanks for letting us be a small part. Much love. God Bless.
Hello, Trent and Allie (camera person)! Expectations are going to be HIGH when you get that machine to the desert. Its gonna be GREAT!!!
Your beads are looking good
For your first build Trent, you keep surprising me with your ability to forge forwards... still think a guy who has been there and done this might still be cheaper than throwing cash at it.
Who hasn't whacked something with a hammer, only to say. "Ooops"? I would suggest a notebook with a "To Do" list. As you come across things you do temp fixes for, add them to the list to make sure you finish the job later. Also good for when you have ideas during the build to keep as reminders. Enjoyed it!
Dude... you broke the pump..... now it's a hair out of square... 🤣🤣
Absolutely! Lol
Totally a Team Toyota gal, and now I have to add a fandom for Trent’s Toyota Team ❤
Trent Childs. AKA The Box destroyer!
Lol
Before cutting your fuel lines to extend them, PLEASE look into extensions on their own. It is very possible that there already is an extension piece with the correct fittings already available.
TIL what a rock crawler fuel cell is and it makes so much sense. Fuck gravity!😂😂😂
Customized work always comes with the unexpected. As George Lucas said about making Star Wars: there is an idea vs reality. The trick is to find a way to bridge the two.
In this episode I'm going to install the fuel cell..... 21 minutes later, I damaged the fuel pump. See you next week.🙂
Nice welding Trent the beads look great
Note to self: no hammer needed to install a new fuel pump. BTW I thought I saw an O-ring (see 14:05). Use that instead of silicone to seal the assembly to the rings. For the bottom ring, it should have a rubber gasket, or you can make one from thin rubber.
You can do it Trent! ❤😊
Awe!! So close! Sorry Trent, that sucks but nice welding!😊
I heaqr you say..."I'll go back and fully weld "X" later. Are you making notes? LOL. You're definately braver than i am to tackle this....
great job guys you got this Trent you have to be use-to running into brick walls by now and getting by them
Body microphones will make the video sound much better and a few sound deading foam (acoustic foam) will take the empty sound out of the garage.
Keep up the great content.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 nyc
This is on my list of things to get going!
I really like your thought process to us through the Camera. It’s going to be a great Rock Crawler Trent. I think I heard a noise from your Camera Person. Technical problems! Lol
Oh gosh Trent so sorry for that happening, but it has been really good to watch you working on this truck and I will be so excited when you finally get it all fixed and put together and see how it runs, that will be so wonderful. Okay thanks for sharing another great video, you are so amazing, have a beautiful rest tonight and see you and Allie in your next video, sending love and hugs, bye! 😂😍🤗👋👍💜💜
I’m interested to see this build ❤
The real proof will be after you have run it
Hey Trent, love the videos! I can appreciate your frustrations in doing this build, been there many times myself. You definitely go down the rabbit hole chasing issues and fixing them. I like watching your build as it keeps me motivated with mine!
Again... "Patients." Tap with the hammer, don't 'HAMMER' with the hammer.
Your welds looked great. I have not seen the last few car segments but it is coming along nicely. Now into it a bit, when do you think you will be hitting the rocks?
Having done what seems like hundreds of fuel pump recalls on Toyotas, pay very close attention o ring placement and the placement of the plastic spacer you dropped on the floor (don't ask how I know ).
Yeah I’m here watching 👍👍😎
Good video, short fuel lines , turn tank around... that may help.. 😁
I liked this video a lot. Very interesting
Cool truck work.. anytime wrenching to me is a fantastic day.. see u soon.. u got this!
You have great ideas though !
Happens to the best
Do you keep Superzilla in your garage? They say it removes rust in seconds.
Keep on truckin'❤
Could you tell me if you are following a general set of plans for this build? I am just curious about placement of components.
I’m just placing things as I think they fit. No real plan other than flying by the seat of my pants
It's a Leonyser 🙂
Trent and Allie perfect recipe: I wanna learn to … can you consider teaching Allie to change oil, master a tire change or other simple things the average girl just never had to learn?
I think in the future we’ll get into stuff like this!
Hello is Trent related to Rick, Justin and Rusty Child from Ogden way?❤
No, I am not 🙁
Looks like a nice glue job
This stuff is Jerry rigging at its finest! You sure can take things apart and put them back together so well. Stuff happens, you’ll figure it all out!!
you don't use silicone on petrol
Permatex blue is designed for fuel. We’ll see how long it lasts
Buy a good pump, hi performance! Please do it...
Sorry about the pump!!!😊🎉❤
Cool
😢bad luck Trent ❤
Were is the bladder for the fuel cell?
That’s a great question? Maybe I need to buy it separately
This trucks gonna b ready in 2030 lol 😆 😂 😅 🙃
AG1 is a great product I just could not do the taste persoanlly. I really wanted to make it work because I can tell it is a great product otherwise.
What happened to the new fuel pump
I broke it haha
👍👍
Trent, I am sure Henry Ford made things work, no one will know if it is slightly out.
Silocone will not seal fuel. Use gasket or oring.
Trent......Dude!!If everything went right the first time it would be all bolt on shit.Custom =Cussing, hahaha!Doing great man.Have fun, thats what it's about.
Can’t believe you don’t have drawings of anything,,, maybe you do , but you never refer to any drawings. Nice video. Craig. Pa.
I don't see why you can't go ahead and complete the assemble with the ;ump that you removed. It should run just fine for testing purposes, and then just install the high flow pump later. That way you can go ahead with engine testing and the other parts of the build.
This is my plan now!
Trent is so big a car nut that he is growing out his own hair spoiler, so he can move faster.
Also keeps the sun off yer neck
You’re going to put rubber around it so it doesn’t rub, aren’t you
😊😊😊😊😊😊
It’s a hair out of square
Is there anything you can do without breaking something? 🥶😤🥵
🤯
Ah yes Trent. Being young like you, you use your hammer way too often. (hehe). Me, on the other hand, have to schedule use of our hammers! (hehe) I'm sorry, I just couldn't pass this situation up.
Never easy is it?
Nope lol
gas tank is too small, add another one ,or two
Trent just run steel brad lines. Much better than factory. Much more forgiving for what your doing. Run them on very bottom. I think they better.
👍🏻👌🏻❤🙏🏻
A fuel cell generates hydrogen and uses the hydrogen to generate power. This is a gas tank.
Fuel cell? Looks like it's just a fuel tank.
Yeah might be haha
Why are you calling your new gas tank a fuel cell? It's not a fuel cell. Google fuel cell.
When in doubt check it out
