It is funny how Ghanaians have been outwitted by these Machiavellian characters like Afrifa and Rawlings. They are all mirror reflections of each other, same personality traits. The lay man will not comprehend this. All they see is Afrifa is a hero or Rawlings is a hero, depending on which camp you are from, meanwhile these two had mastered the art of deception and were playing the game very well. Regrettably, one had to get shot at the end. These are very clever individuals. When Afrifa wrote a letter to Acheampong that he suspects they will be shot, all Ghanaians could read into the letter was that he had a premonition. Nonsense! He knew the game well and he was putting himself in the shoes of his potential enemies. So, he was working with intel nothing superstitious. He was no magician but a clever soldier. This was a man who graduated from the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. Rawlings just beat him to his own game. RAWLINGS and AFRIFA are the opposite sides of the same coin; Machiavellian and skilled in the Art of Deception. Eliminate your enemies or you get eliminated. Leave tribalism, family, religion out of this. It is just a dirty game. My fellow Africans, this is why you have to READ BOOKS, THINK, READ BOOKS and THINK otherwise just a few people will control your minds. Suffice to say, AFRIFA was no saint, same goes for Rawlings.
Indeed, two machiavellian characters in Ghanaian politics and one still living. The constitution which was enacted to absolve the Rawlings regime from atrocities committed under his regime was and still the cause of present day political mess in Ghana. Period. A proper and credible truth and reconciliation committee ought to be set up and a revised constitution that must remove the absolution given to the Rawlings regime. These are just small steps towards political maturity and stabilization of Ghana.

The hatred for JJ Rawlings has manifested so well in the posture of Andy. He consistently pushes his guest to side with him in blaming JJ for all the wrong doings. I listened to the Interview granted with Adaduga and my question is if indeed JJ Rawlings is a "coward" and upon all your smartness and greatness as a soldier, after taken over GBC you still couldn't see the cowardness in Rawlings and still led him to make the pronouncement of the takeover. I can't still think, how JJ Rawlings being 'coward' will still remove him from jail by so called smart soldiers to lead the coup. Ah! 😂 You know the man is a coward and you still want him to lead. Why are you talking to someone who said he was 11 years old at the time of the coup. What can he contribute to the discussion except his opinion. Nothing factual. This man is as disgruntled as Rawlings was at the time. There is blood on his hands as those who ordered the killings of Ghanaians at the time. Those they killed had to be jailed not executed. Rawlings stayed in Ghana because he wouldn’t be able to study abroad. Rawlings was frustrated as he was going nowhere in the Ghana Army. He had failed his exams and was heavily in debt.

Treacherous group of people. Afrifa was Nkrumah’s golden boy. Acheampong was Busias golden boy who had incidentally been recommended to Busia by Afrifa. Kotoka was the main brain behind Nkrumah’s overthrow. Afrifa was his subordinate who was very popular with the troops. Akuffo was Acheampongs second in command. He betrayed his boss and allowed Rawlings and his cronies to march them all to their deaths.
Acheampong warned them that there would be bloodshed in Ghana if his own side overthrew him. They didn’t listen. At the end he was the only one of the lot who had no fear. He even waved his white hankiie on his way to the shooting range.
Andy this man knows too much and speaks too much truth.

Listen to me, the eye witness. After the overthrow of Nkrumah, the NLC headed by Emmanuel Kɔsi Kotoka appointed Gen. Ankrah as head of state and Afrifa was a member of that military junta. Afrifa wanted to be the head of state but he knew Kotoka was an impediment so he contracted Yɛboah and Arthur to kill Kotoka. They succeeded and he Afrifa became head of state and because of the popularity of Kotoka, people started suspecting foul play so in order to play a hidden agenda, he Afrifa quickly executed Yeboah and Arthur. Dead men don't reveal secrets. Afrifa supervised over the " KONKONSA" elections in 1969 and gave power to Busiah on a silver platter. What is good for the geese is equally good for the gander.
If Rawlings and the PNDC were innocent in the killing of the judges, why didn't the PNDC trigger an Interpol alert to have Amedica arrested? The court never set captain Kojo Tsikata free, the SIB implicated him but the then-attorney general didn't prosecute him.

Afrifa is the course of all our problems.1. He led the coup to over throw Kwame Nkrumah.
2. Afrifa Master minded the killing of Kotoka. Why? When Nkrumah was overthrown, Afrifa and Kotoka took the Golden sword used to swear by incoming presidents. Afrifa decided not to give Kotoka's share and therefore masterminded his assassination. As cover up Afrifa ordered the execution of the three soldiers who killed Kotoka one of which was from Brong Ahafo.One of the reasons Boakye Gyan ordered Afrifa to be executed. Remember,when Afrifa's house search, sixteen golden beds were found which was from the Golden Sword. Where did Afrifa got his money to establish his village? From coup booty. Afrifa was the MOST WICKED PERSON in Ghana I have ever known. He was snake under grass. NYAATWOM!

Why exempt Rawlings
This guy was just a very young kid during the early part of the period in question, and has no access to any concrete facts or reliable information to add much to the foundation of the subject matter. Too bad, the host is also very young although, his program is a major contribution towards learning about the ills of military rule in Ghana and in other countries in Africa.

Hello Andy... I have been following your series of interviews pertaining to the June 4th revolution. I really enjoyed all the interviews by the ex-soldiers who actually participated during the June 4th era. I am not too sure how you met this guy but his answers are actually denigrating your program. Please if you want to be "sacrosanct" about your reputation and integrity avoid such guest on your show. Your guest is actually clueless and have his facts all twisted. He is not actually answering your questions. I am curious and want to know his credentials.

Unfortunately the guest’s submission is purely a hearsay because I was 15 years old then and was in secondary school form 3, I also heard these hearsay, but some of his submission do not carry weight and not factual, as compared to your earlier guests who were really in the thick of affairs, more over, he should have spoken his native language instead of English language

Afrifa was murdered simply by hatredness. You said from the beginning of this interview that you were then 12 years old and, how come you know all the gong gongs you are beating to-day? Kingsley Boateng is given out false stories,Busia came to power through democratic elections in 1969,before he's overthrown in 1972. If Afrifa took gold from the castle,after he's excuted who took the gold from his home in Mampong in the Ashanti region. This guy is a liar, Rawlings refused to take Limann's retirement money because he's too greedy and was still having his eye to power. Handing over to PNP was not their will, that's why he came back through his evil coup d'etat. Things never changed during Rawlings term, rather it got worse. Rawlings stayed in power for 19 years and nothing got better. Did this guy knew the shortages of foreign exchange?
