Kimi had 6 victories (3 of which were gained during 4 last races of the season), Lewis had 4. Ferrari makes Kimi their championship contender towards the end of the season, while Fernando and Lewis squabble over points to the very end. And who kept his cool better in Brazil, Kimi or Lewis?
12 years late... But let's analyse again... Kimi 2 dnf's are because of reliability issues Lewis 3 dnf's driver errors.... Fernando made driver errors dnf's too... Kimi made near zero mistakes during races that whole year and had zero dnf's due to driver errors... And that's what won him the Championship. Not to forget, the Championship with 4 equal cars #spygate All three Championship contendors had the same car and Kimi beat them all, even with reliability dnf's.
raikkonen is one helluva character. different than todays puppets. kimi didnt really care about media and gave a shait if someone was arguing with him. he did it already in -03 ( 2 points from schumi with -02 mclaren evo ) if you think, car wasnt reliable and schumi didnt got any penalties while passing yellows. anyhow moral champion 03 and 05. no doubt he was a fastest driver. 2005 kimi had always those 10 grid penalties and still drove to podium or if he was leading, mclaren wasnt reliable ..

And he had all the reasons, Alonso blackmailed them that season, he basically said to mclaren: "you either give me numebr 1 status in the team, otherwise I will testify against you in the spystory" which he did after RD refused his request. This sort of behaviour were the whole reasons why he has won a fraction of what his talent would have deserved, and why he is retiring from F1 with no competitive teams willing to give him a seat for next season.

Personally I find Kimi's 'Iceman' persona pretty boring now, at first it was a pretty cool gimmick, but now he just seems a little bored. He even said that if he didn't renew his contract with Ferarri he would retire, which kinda shows how much he really cares about the sport. But that's not to say I like goodie-two-shoes Hamilton, being back Montoya I say! :)
I know I'm 12 years late but the truth is , he said he if Ferrari didn't renew his contract he would retire in 2009 because he wanted to go back to McLaren. But both seats were occupied by Hamilton and Button. And what you said about him caring little about the sport. He is still around to this day and will race 2021.
If you call revenge Hamilton winning with a Mercedes while Alonso was driving a pretty mediocre Renault, and even then managed to end 5th just behind the much superior Mercedes and Ferraris... sure, tasty revenge.
