Oh goodness, this is definitely a life saver!! I have the most stubborn, hot headed horse ever 😂. He tends to pick up his speed in the trot, and get faster and faster until it’s basically uncontrollable. He then spooks, and that usually doesn’t end very well. Thank you so much for the tips!! Thank you so much for making this video! I've been riding this extremely forward horse, and could not slow him down. I got thrown off in canter a few weeks ago because my legs were too unstable. He just went cantering like crazy around the arena. I need to learn how to slow him down, even in trot, making better contact (like pulling the reins and then giving) and especially improving my seat. I didn't seem to know how to slow down my rise. Now it's so much clearer. Again, thank you so much!
My horse takes off like this in the outside arena on the stretch going back to the barn. 🐎 This always makes me really nervous 😧 Remaining calm & remembering these tips really helps. Thanks Tash! 😃
The problem I have is my horse has two speeds. Fast trot or slow trot. If you put leg on when he slows down he quickens. Never consistent or rhythmic. Please help. If I try to pull and collect his trot he stops.
Yes - and you have almost answered your own question here - it's not about the fast trot or slow trot or putting leg on or off - it's about going through the steps of the training scale, going back to the basics and starting at the start - with RHYTHM!
