I remember the days I worked in an LQS and helped pick fabric for The Coat quilt! Ricki has always inspired me and continues to do so. Great interview!

I'm rarely speechless, but after watching this interview I admit I am gobsmacked. Ricki's message of 'putting yourself first' is such an important message for everyone, but especially working mothers. I was happy to hear Ricki mention 'The Artist Way' because it truly is a life changing book that if followed will bring magic into your world. I am in awe of all she has mastered, and how she took advice from her high powered career in finance to 'pay yourself first' to her creative work. Kudos to Ricki not to be stumped on the desert island question. If Ricki were ever to write a book, I would be first in line to buy it. Until then I have this video to watch over and over again when I need inspiration. Thank you Ali for this interview, it truly is a testament of the people you have attracted to the best online community in the world, "The Handmade Bookclub."

I so needed to hear this! I'm a quilter with little time to quilt since I fell in love with art journaling and book binding. Ricki's comment about it all coming back around again and the quilting informing the painting or it all working together in projects was such a relief to me. Thanks for sharing this conversation, Ali. Love Ricki's enthusiasm for trying new things and simply going with the creative flow!

Ali your interview questions were fabulous!!! I feel like Ricki and I are kindred spirits bc she puts into practice what I either I do or if I weren’t disabled I would do, except I’d never be a banker…I still count with my fingers 😂🤣. I’m 72 going on 102… but Grandma Moses didn’t start painting til she was 78!!! Died around 101, if remember. LOVED my order I just received from you!!! Thank you one thousand times!! You are such a dear, lovely lady! Wish we could sit and have a cup of tea together! Blessings.

I am so very much inspired! Thank you Ricki! And Ali! I love the purposefully planning of putting me, and my creative life, first... investing into my creativity. And also utilizing 3-4 minutes to be creativity. So many other "wisdom" moments in this chat. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life, Ricki!

What an inspiration Ricki - i thought i was a strange person ! I too have gone from quilting to Book Making with Ali. Then i started making Art Dolls, then it was beaded tassels. So now i wont feel so strange , cause you have given me permission Ricki to try new things whenever the notion comes…. I just was so inspired by you… thank you…

I have just joined the book club and am enjoying meeting the people that are already members and what other art they do. I like to try a lot of things and am also a quilter so this interview was really interesting to watch. Especially the part about not feeiling guilty about moving on to a different art.
