- It never ceases to amaze me just how detailed we can get when brocading while tablet weaving. This reproduction attempt was really fun to do! Although I am already brimming with more ideas for other projects.

What you just demonstrated is absolutely magical!!! ❤
This is INCREDIBLE. How delicate your work is! How wonderful and beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your work with us.
Aw, thank you! Unlike embroidery I do not have to strain my eyes to increase the level of detail!
Brocade tablet weaving is terrifyingly slow... I don't trust myself to pick the correct threads tbh so I will just admire this. The white and gold combination is so pretty and delicate!
Aw, thank you! I’ve done silk on silk in different colours too and it’s so much fun! 🥰
I have been making vestments for my church, and they can use 15 or more meters of trim like this. I am just amazed at how time consuming it would have been in pre-industrial times to weave those quantities!
It is incredibly time-consuming! I do like the control I have with weaving over embroidery, but yes, fast it is not. 😅
what an amazing video, i always enjoy these. i am sorry for your loss, Enya lives in our hearts.
Thank you, she was such a sweet cat.
So sorry for the loss of your beloved Enya - thank you for sharing that lovely tribute to her with all of us. And what a beautiful piece you wove! It makes an absolutely lovely addition to your time-traveller kit. No risk of the temporal locals mistaking you for a mere peasant now.
I’d still be a peasant in all other things though. 😅 but I do love learning the crafts.
Yes! A new historical weaving video🤩 Brb, just need a cup of tea while i watch 👏
I’ll join you with the tea. 🍵
I think this might be your most beautifully filmed video yet!
Many thanks! It is a lot of fun to learn new techniques and try new angles! 🥰
I just began warping a Dublin dragons pattern on the inkle loom, so I was super excited when I saw the subject of your new video. Oh my goodness you used such incredibly fine and delicate thread! What a beautiful finished piece. Thank you for sharing - always enjoy whatever content you are putting out!
Also, I may have missed where you shared the information, but where did you get your beautiful wooden cards? I think I am ready to upgrade from paper cards, which I seem to wear out quicker than I would like.
I got them from Gunnar Karro/Ampstreet on Etsy, but the shop has been empty for a long time now. There are other great artisans on Etsy too though! Make sure you get cards that are already waxed and polished and you will save yourself some heartache and broken threads. ❤️
Tablet weaving is an incredible skill. I like yarn crafting, mostly knitting, I definitely wanna try weaving, but tablet weaving is just a wholly different league. I didn't even know it existed before I found your videos tbh. Absolutely amazing.
You can do it (if you want to). I find it is most intimidating before giving it a go and realise it wasn’t so bad after all. 🥰
@@KristineVike very good point!! I will definitely try some time, just to have done it at least once. In the meantime I'm enjoying your videos :D
The running sequence and that final shot are absolutely stunning!! Not entirely convinced you aren't a time-traveler :0) Beautiful work, as always!!
Haha, thank you! We are lucky to have snow right now so the farmer doesn’t mind me frolicking in the fields.
Wow, just wow!
❤️
The two dots tip!!!! Thank you! 🤯
I Love your works... I admire you so much, thanks for your videos Kristine.
Astoundingly beautiful. Oh my goodness. The Dublin/double dragons pattern (here in the US for whatever reason I see “double dragons” listed as the pattern name a lot) is my absolute favorite, too. Incredibly beautiful! Something about the white and gold color scheme makes me think of beautiful, ethereal elf weddings in a fantasy Tolkien-esque world 🧝🏻♀️
I am glad you liked it! It seems to be a popular pattern among a lot of tablet weavers.
As always, I am totally amazed by your brocade weaving! Absolutely stunning! 🇨🇦
Thank you. I don’t know why this incredibly time-consuming craft has my heart, it just does!
My heart sunk when I read your tribute to your kitty.
She was such a sweet, purring friend. ❤️
Everything you create is just so lovely.
Aw, thank you. Creating gives me so much. 😊
Beautiful work!
There isn't much to say that hasn't been said already, but wow. One cannot but appreciate the attention to detail. Such a beautiful ribbon!
Having lost a cat friend during the end-of-the-year holidays, I send you much love. It's amazing how much love fits into a small purring friend. They are indeed incredible creatures.
They are indeed. People talk about unconditional love from dogs, but I found a happy cat absolutely provides that as well. I am sorry for your loss.
Beautiful, meditative work. RIP sweet Enya 💔
Thank you. ❤️
This is GORGEOUS!!! Makes me want to try.
This was absolutely gorgeous 🥰
Thank you! ❤️
i don’t do tablet weaving or anything similar, but i find it interesting! so videos like yours are perfect because i get to watch pretty things being made and learn a bit at the same time. your videography and editing has definitely developed over time and it’s lovely to see :)
take care, sorry to hear about Enya 🧡
I am glad you enjoyed it! I like watching videos of people doing crafts I do not know how to do as well. 🥰
So pretty! Excellent work!
Thank you. ❤️
You are so talented and so encouraging thanks 😊 so much take care Katy
Thank you, glad you liked it. 😊
Currently working on this pattern and have been for the past few months in between other projects. I warped up 9 yards on my monster loom and I hate myself now 😂.
Ooof, that is a solid length no matter. Sending encouraging vibes!!
Your videos are all so beautiful and gentle, as is the work you produce. Thank you so much for sharing.
So sorry to hear about Enya
Thank you for watching! I am glad there is room for gentle things too. ❤️
If I didn't already wanted to learn tablet weaving, your video certainly makes me want to try!
Yeees, come to the weaving side! 😁
@@KristineVike do you have cookies? 😂
Always. 👀🍪
The fact that this is brocade too, the suffering😭 I'm trying to weave a brocade trim too (with scrap yarn because I already knew that I wouldn't like it, since it's my first time with this technique😂) and it's so painfully slow! My respect
What a beautiful ribbon! ✨
Thank you!
So pretty! I love how delicate it looks. Weaving that tiny thread is bananas lol. That's dedication. Your filming is awesome!
Sorry to hear about Enya! Sending good vibes & hugs! Beautiful cat 💜
That is what is really like about weaving though, the complexity doesn’t increase even if the threads are thinner.
And thank you. I do miss my best old girl.
So cool! Amazing dedication too
Glad you liked it!
You are amazing, you make it look so easy
Thank you. It is totally doable, if you want to. :)
Beautiful delicate work
Thank you. :)
So lovely! 💕
Thank you! ❤️
Lovely
what a lovely video-very restful, perfect for watching in bed (I have COVID). so sorry for your loss ❤
Oh no! I hope you recover well and get better soon.
Simplemente muy talentosa y hermosa gracias por compartir
WOW!!!!!
I use a double-pointed knitting needle to pick up my tie-down threads, and pass the brocade weft on a needle. 🙂
incredible skill, do you think this pattern is too ambitious for a tablet beginner?
wonderful channel, and looking forward to seeing more from you. very sorry for the loss of your dear sweet Enya.
I honestly think if a you really want to do a pattern, give it a go! Motivation is such a great help, especially in the beginning.
I might have preferred a thicker yarn when I was a beginner, but skill/weaving-wise, I really think brocade is a simple skill. :)
@@KristineVike Thank you for your encouragement!
Very interesting video thank you so much
Isn’t the little ribbon that was sticking out of your drawer in the beginning of your video from the Vestfold Bunad?
I recognize it because I make the 1932 model Vestfold Bunad for the Husflid.
It was indeed. I do like all sorts of ribbons. :)
This band is absolutely beautiful! It is so delicate, and the gold is just amazing! Do you know where to get, or what type of gold thread for weaving? I'd love to try this myself, but I haven't the faintest idea of where to get metallic thread like what you were using.
If you are Europe-based, I would start with handweavers.co.uk. Though I am sure there are many excellent other shops too. If you are elsewhere I’m afraid I have very little idea.
Wow I want to learn this to! Is there a pattern for the green scarf/wrap you are wearing ?
Oh my goodness! This is magical! I do have to ask about your ridiculously large safety pin. Is that a normal tool for tablet weaving, or something you repurposed?
I find them in my local knitting and sewing shops. Not sure what they are intended as. Holding stitches, perhaps?
@@KristineVike it’s a very appealing object!
Vackert 🤍🦋
