Your tink #1 made me cringe, tink#2 is the way to go. The ravel cord I believe you pulled from the shortest end, you should pull from the longest end so you have less to pull thru the knit. I see no need to have a ravel cord to separate the bonnet from the waste yarn because you will remove the waste yarn from the project end
