Hey bro, I’m with you, this is very long and difficult job. I’ve replaced several HVAC components in all models of cars for years now and they’re always long drawn out jobs but the new Impalas are probably the most difficult I’ve ever done.
I’ve read that this is a somewhat common failure as GM has a couple TSBs out on it so to anyone who attempts this repair be advised it is much more in depth and detailed than most other dash removal procedures, so good luck and God Bless

There is a guy who says this about this job - "Doing one now and no way will I pull all that apart! 4bolts ,center counsel , steering column a couple of grounds and a couple gang connectors and hoses. and boom!!!"
It's not gonna happen right brother! lol

      Hello,
Someone did this job on my impala, but now the buttons to change the airflow direction (front, feet, windshield, ect) in the hvac control panel don't work. If I push the buttons they do illuminate, but nothing changes. Same thing with the temperature, if I change the degrees with the dials it stays cold, no matter what I do. This used to work perfectly before the job.
What I'm thinking is that the actuators are disconnected. Can you guys help me figure it out where the connectors are?

Glad I can across this..my a/c in my Impala just went out too and mechanics couldn’t find the leak until I was getting ready to leave the dye started to leak heavy under the car from where the dad would be. Took it to dealer and they wouldn’t cover it because there was a recall/bulletin on it a few yrs back and because my car wasn’t vin specific with the recall they want me to come out of pocket.. hell TF naw. Kiss my ass GM

Hi Parkers,, I just read a TSB that says GM will pay for the evaporator replacement job.
#N182186881-01: Special Coverage Adjustment - Evaporator Core Icing, Leak - (May 1, 2019) This letter is intended to make you aware that some 2016-2018 model year Chevrolet Impala vehicles, equipped with a 3.6L V-6 engine may have a condition where the air conditioning evaporator core may become damaged as a result of repeated freeze/thaw cycles without proper drainage of the condensate from the core. A damaged evaporator core may leak refrigerant and result in a loss of air conditioningfunction. What We Have Done:General Motors is providing owners with additional protection for the condition described above. If this condition occurs on your 2016-2018 model year Chevrolet Impala within 6 years of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 72,000 miles (116,000 km), whichever occurs first, the condition will be repaired for you at no charge. Diagnosis or repair for conditions other than the condition described above is not covered under this special coverage program.

The question I have is the expansion valve inside the dash or is it on the firewall side? By the way your video is very helpful.
