End of an Era,Part 5 - Albuquerque Behaves Badly

In the Season 8 finale of Albuquerque Behaves Badly,we sadly continue with our ongoing series on the decline of Albuquerque's International District. This time,we visit the burned out remains of the iconic Sais Food Mart on Louisiana & Trumbull. The store was severely damaged in a fire before Thanksgiving. Reportedly,the fire was started by people using the parking lot as an overnight encampment. Then three weeks later,the store was hit with another fire. It is completely destroyed. The family that owns the store lost everything. Residents shopped here as an quick alternative to taking the 157 bus to stores miles away on Lomas or Montgomery. Now it's gone,just like the Walmart, Walgreens,Dollar Tree and Big Lots along San Mateo Blvd. The city has no plans to replace those stores. Rumors have megachurches and developers interested.
