Very impressive to bowl a 300 game with all the distractions of other bowlers not to mention waiting his damn turn for other bowlers to go and that release is so violent very intense, Gratz Brandon.
i got a 300 before my dad did, My dad's been bowling for 40 years and i've been bowling for 2 years. He doesn't like me anymore XD. I always love watching lefty bowlers. Awesome job man.
Got a great shot Brandon. Accurate as hell and you blow up the rack every time. See all those ten pins left by the righties? The best thing I saw in the whole video was the five-lane courtesy from the other bowlers for the tenth frame. That's real class. Wish the jerks on my league could see that.
We don't do that shit around here either. You need 5 lanes of courtesy to throw 12 strikes. Dont bowl or bitch please. I dont care if the dude next lane over Is bowling. Learn to Focus and you'll be fine
Congrats on the 300. I've been trying for one of them for over thirty years, and the closes I've gotten was a ringing, wobbling ten pin that wouldn't fall for a 299. Amazing and wonderful accomplishment Brandon!!!
Something does not add up here, he started on the right hand lane in a normal 10 frame game you end up on the 10 frame on the left lane, he ended up on the lane he started, and hes 7/8/9/ strikes were on the same lane, and he actually threw 13 strikes a 300 is 12 strikes.
@NJFire1906 did you watch the video and count the frames and see the errors in the editing? Watch it again and count the number of strikes for yourself. Did you read my posts where I say that I DO BELIEVE that he rolled 300?
@iBowlSpares you can believe or not..doesnt really matter to me. but the guy that was filming started out filming youth bowlers from our bowling alley to make a highlight video..and i started out striking so he kept videoing me and i shot 300.
@NJFire1906 I don't doubt the fact that he threw a 300, he has great form. My point is the video editing was not done correctly. Anyone who bowls know that you need 12 (not 13) strikes and you must alternate lanes every frame until the 10th, 11th & 12th and you never finish on the same lane you started. Those errors could place serious doubt in some peoples minds that this actually occured.
@rewop23us I am the poster's son and I bowl with Brandon. He has bowled plenty of 300s before this one. He will continue to be a very successful bowler.
The one that caught my interest was the girl, mostly everything was spot on for me. Her form, followthrough, keeping her hand behind the ball, just spectacular. I don't care if you bowl 300, I care more about what happen's on the lane before she let's go of the ball.
SlickJames671 this logic is what’s killing bowling and keeping new people from interest in the sport the same reason I don’t care about 2 handers the only the that really matters is from the foul line to the back of the pin deck
With that kind of mentality and teaching most probably wont shoot 300 lol. Look at some of the pros. Very unorthodox styles. Doesnt mean it's wrong buddy or that they are bad bowlers by any means. Style and form doesnt knock pins down
Nice job Brandon....just happened upon this video tonight. Being a former PGA card member and bowling against the likes of Pete Weber, Rich Orf and Steve Orf in ABC Juniors during the early 80's in St Louis we ruled too. I see a problem with the video - Mr Jerrido should not have posted this with such errors. Starting on lane 24 and then double throwing on lane 24 frames 6 & 7 then finishing on 24 in 10th-11th-12th. Plus showing 13 shots. I can only assume that you started on 23 and that shot isn't even included. I loved the Saturday morning house patterns even if they didn't oil them after the late Friday night leagues. It just meant I got to throw my LT-48 full force or my blue Angle on a blocked 10-10 shot. Keep bowling and have fun.....
if you count you will see that there are 13 strikes thrown. Someone messed up the editing of video. You also notice that he finished on the same lane he started. Don't necessarily doubt that he shot a 300 but the video is not continuous
He definitely gets a hand full. Nice revs. I was 17 when i shot my first 300 too... 16 years ago lol. I'm a lefty as well. Grats to Brandon on his first? of probably many 300s =)
It's been 18 years since I have played league. But I don't understand how you do so well with a side on action. My coach taught me that you must do front on actions, lest you find yourself hooking with an over-compensatory action. You could probably lose balance. Great game, though.
+UnSubRocky I have not bowled in 8 years. The game has changed a lot with the power players coming in to play. Plus the 2 handed release is gaining momentum. I was and always will be a down and in player that can still score well over some of the power players.
I took 10 years off from leagues. Averaged about 210 when I left in '06, and am averaging 220 now. I'm sure part of it is equipment and part of it is me maturing as a bowler - I never QUIT bowling but I didn't bowl leagues. My release hasn't changed much, but I have gone down to 15 lbs from 16. The "modern" release is less cupping, muscling, and lifting and more "unloading" at the bottom of the swing. I've always had a nice in-between of those two extremes. I still prefer to go down and in, the less the ball has to travel the better. It's been 13 years since my last 300 though... but I've had a dozen 11 strike games this year in league. Also, I'm a lefty as well... this video was a pleasure to watch.
I stopped bowling in 1997, probably half way through the year, to focus on work and university. I think my average when I left was around 150-155. A few months ago, I was playing socially with co-workers on a staff party. I don't think I scored much higher than a 115 pinfall for the second game, using my bowling ball that was re-drilled to fit my hand. That is not too bad considering that I have only played perhaps 20 games of bowling since 1998. My technique was so rusty, but I knew that it was a matter of 6 months regular practice to get good again. Of course, if I returned to league bowling in 2007 and continued playing today, I could probably have a 180 average by now. I would also assume that I would have concentrated on a healthy weight to be able to keep better balance.
its called a house shot..lol. in my opinion i shouldnt have gotten past the front 5 but ill take it..lol but thanks for the advice. i kinda already have that fixed..this video was shot awhile back.
I grew up learning the Mark Roth cranker style, coming up the back with good lift getting the ball very revved up. This is more of off the side "chicken winging" which is not the best for carry, but still good game
Say whatever you want about lefties having it easier, bullshit, lefties have learned to adapt to playing a lot smoother boards, with a lot less traffic, which makes them hook a lot less, no matter what the oil pattern is, or how bad the lanes break down. The kid was throwing bombs, was smashing the pocket every shot, and had great entry angle. He earned that 300 just as much as anyone "right handed player" ever has. Great Job Brandon.
Excellent. Way raw approach. Yet, found his groove that day. Not pretty - yet PERFECT SCORE! Awesome! (I've never done it, so hat's off!) Great support (friends). Awesome!
You did a great job, Brandon. You said that was your 4th 300 game you've gotten, huh? But still, I got very close to one. You didn't feel any kind of pressure when you throw the last shot in the 10th frame?
@SmurFMeHxC well you are kinda right. Girls normally cannot produce the same rev rate as guys and can't jack all over the ball. If you look at college bowling you, or pro bowling, you will see the same thing. Girls tend to always have much better form, are a lot more smoother, and a lot more stable at the line. Guys tend to try to rev the ball from learning hook is something important. This leads to girls normally just playing around the track area
Fantastic bowling, Although if I were to have any criticism, it would be on the style of bowling which relies on brute strength rather than technique. Ok when you are young and strong, but as you get older you'll need to slow down and use a little more finesse. Never bowled a 300 myself, so what do I know ? :)
The fact that he was able to bowl a 300 proves he has a consistent and reliable release, how is that not technique? And of course he'll have to adjust when he gets older - what does that have to do with his bowling now?
Brian Clymer .. simple.. because nowadays with how strong the balls are, you dont really need technique and you can just huck the ball out and have it come crashing into the pocket. And it has alot to do with his bowling now because when he faces challenging pro oil patterns, he will not be able to rely on just a strong ball and rev rate. Not saying he is a bad bowler and cannot do this, but many so-called "good bowlers" can fool you on house patterns and seem good but suck on real patterns.
mike And I'm assuming you know precisely what pattern was on this lane when he was bowling? The condition of the lanes, his exact rev/sec, etc.? You can regurgitate jargon all you wish and fool those that don't bowl, but those of us that do bowl can call your bluff. He actually does not have that high of a rev rate. He is a power player, nowhere near a cranker, though. I won't argue that the technology of bowling balls has tremendously improved in the last 10-20 years (if not more rapidly than that), but to bowl a 300 still requires a consistent release, constant adaptation to the lane conditions, and the ability to maintain calm and focus throughout the 12 throws - a mental skill that not many possess. Keep naysaying, but how many official 300's have you bowled in your life that places you in a position to criticize this guy for achieving a very prestigious task?
+Brian Clymer bowling a 300 doesn't require a consistent release. All it requires is luck. I've seen guys who are shit throw 12 shots half of them go Brooklyn half hit light and still shoot 300. Seen guys who miss target left or right by 8 boards and still strike to shoot 300. League shots are stupid easy nowadays because bowling centers know higher scores bring in more business and revenue. Bowl a 300 in a tournament or a sport shot league then you have something to be proud of.
More than likely not while this kid had a good game as many people in the comments have pointed out to a bit of an extreme in some cases this is a youth league more than likely bowling on a house condition even if it is a sport shot the transition on tour is crazy compared to this environment
It’s a lot more complicated than that to be successful on tour watch some of brad &kyles videos and listen to what they as well as the pros that are on tv constantly say about it. Plenty of great bowlers that aren’t successful on tour
123bcurtis says you can believe or not..doesn't really matter to me. but the guy that was filming started out filming youth bowlers from our bowling alley to make a highlight video..and i started out striking so he kept videoing me and I shot 300
lol it's just like at my league. (left hand) pocket strike.. pocket strike... pocket strike.. (right hand) pocket 10 pin. xD all day baby. nah though for real you kept consistent. nice game. i'll get one day. so far just a 289. but last Thursday on my league picked up the big 4 for first time. sucks bc i hit that then bowled a 165 that game xD lmao.
The guy who filmed this video actually filmed 12 seperate clips of what started out to be my team bowling. Then when i shot 300 he put them all together to make this video. He just put them in the wrong sequence.
Damn do I hate YOU GUYS! Fucking pathetic, styles change with time, same with the technology. Get over yourself. Also no, I don't bowl two handed or with no thumb, but I have respect for those who do. I have absolutely no respect for people like you. Making up imaginary rules about how you're supposed to bowl, as if you're superior to others.
@@shellcode4892 The update to the USBC rules is equally silly. Wasting time and money plugging holes and reducing options for how to deliver a given ball (otherwise known as versatility). Not only do the manufacturers make cores that achieve the performance lost from no balance holes, easing up on static imbalance restrictions because balance holes can't change it will allow people to have 2+ ounces of side weight. Automatic freight train hitting power.
LOL lefties always have the easiest shot.. They dont have to worry about other bowlers messing up there line and get a pristine line to the pocket all game(usually as lefties are rare).. But Bowl a 300 on the 42' US Open Pattern then come talk to me LOL.. I bowled a 300 on USBC Masters Pattern during my summer League last year, but got incredibly lucky and had a jersey strike, along with 2 messengers that bailed me out of 2 ten pins lol.. But you look great and keep it up! Bowling a 300 is still not an easy thing. Maybe we will see ya on Tour some day!
Any oil pattern is easily playable these days with the new resin balls. Mixed with the proper cover stock and a motion hole, oil is the least of my worries.
And he will bury it every time in the pocket with all those rotations. Nice ball! Watch how other balls slide and don't start the rotation until over half way down.
I can attest to the arthritis angle. A lot of years with a slightly stretched span and cranking the bejeezus out of the ball resulted in finger joints that were no longer flexible enough to throw fingertip without extreme pain. Have had good success switching to conventional, but blew up my wrist and have taken considerable time off (220s average, with a 300/800 on a conventional drill before the injury). Looking to get back in the swing in fall 2018.
its definitely legal. you can look me up on bowl.com. im in the durham orange person association. the guy that was filming it was taking individual clips and he got them mixed up. but the proof is on the website.
That action will lead to a medical issue in later life? Fair play to Brandon i used to bowl years ago and had an average of 210 when it was at its peak and played for England etc.. Now 20 years on im still as fit as a fiddle even though i cranked it as much as he does. Dont listen to them Brandon you keep playing mate. Fuck the haters
Love the Intensity with EVERY shot! Good Work!

good game, man i remember bowling there so many times!
how are the village lanes in durham im going there next week for state

I'll be coming to Winston Salem North Carolina

Wow. What a technique. Takes a lot of heart too. Good for him

What kind of ball were you using @Cool32216 ?
Can you tell me why at 2:07 you bowled three times on the right lane?
10th frame?

great job bro! you def got your own style - keep it up!
Good job! Brandon Curtis 5/5 keep up the good work!
its called a house shot..lol. in my opinion i shouldnt have gotten past the front 5 but ill take it..lol but thanks for the advice. i kinda already have that fixed..this video was shot awhile back.
Haha yea you almost never threw the same shot
I grew up learning the Mark Roth cranker style, coming up the back with good lift getting the ball very revved up. This is more of off the side "chicken winging" which is not the best for carry, but still good game
Great bowling but I hope you plane on smoothing out the release our your going to be looking at re-constructive surgery in the future.
Mines is 272. I am hoping to crack that one day. Bowled the other week 233...
@NJFire1906 Brandon is 17.
@damastadj94 Im using the Track 715T

walled house shot?
the girls roll so smooth. its awesome! nice 300 by the way.

Awesome! Congratulations!
i am now 18 years old and i have been bowling for 16 years
You did a great job, Brandon. You said that was your 4th 300 game you've gotten, huh? But still, I got very close to one. You didn't feel any kind of pressure when you throw the last shot in the 10th frame?
That was a very nice follow through
Congratulations Brandon
WTF??? did she realease it upside down or something?
im throwing the Track 715T in this video
Shoot, no reviews here, but it looked unstoppable
123bowl.com/bowling-balls/track/715T/
looks like he crosses the foul line on every shot lol
+bennymoo17 I actually bowl at this center from time to time and all of the foul lights worked back then and work now.
bennymoo17 a
Mark it zero!
i really like his role

true but he's very solid at the foul line
@SmurFMeHxC which girl u talkn bout?
Its not his fault that 300 is t what is used to be. There are 8 and 9 yr old kids bowling 300s now
I bowled 5 strikes in a row by throwing the ball almost half way down the lane.
Nice game. As sharp as the break is, I'm surprized he didn't leave an 8 or 9 pin. I'm a eighty and I leave 9 pins all night on Twister Pins!
Sometimes it's just your day
you can hear the plastic when the ball hit the pins
He flips it out anywhere, doesn't stay behind the ball at all, and strikes every time. The lanes are walled up...
+Kc Map left handed on house lol
It’s not how it’s how many
Lots of revs on that ball
good strikes i like, one thing i hate is the sound of the strikes lol they sound so weird
Awsome! And thanks for using your thumb and only 1 hand. Damn do I hate THOSE guys.

Not only do the manufacturers make cores that achieve the performance lost from no balance holes, easing up on static imbalance restrictions because balance holes can't change it will allow people to have 2+ ounces of side weight. Automatic freight train hitting power.
i dont see brandon going far in bowling. but the girl has almost perfect form.
The original "GO BRANDON".
Hell of a lot easier than it used to be
Any oil pattern is easily playable these days with the new resin balls. Mixed with the proper cover stock and a motion hole, oil is the least of my worries.
mike haters gonna hate
look at that sweet release at 2:09
🤣🤣🤣
Great game !
How long has this kid been bowling? I've only been doing it for 1 year and my average is already a 186 with a 268 high game.
Holy shit his bowling ball is agressive
Left Hand Green boy all strike!! Perpect Game!!👍👍🎳🎳

Great job!!
sounds like synthetic twister pins.

And he will bury it every time in the pocket with all those rotations. Nice ball! Watch how other balls slide and don't start the rotation until over half way down.
Congrats on that game, just work on your balance but great release.
If he can do that good than i dont think it matters
definitely going to get arthritis at some point...he bowled very good but has to watch his approach...
Its not legal 300 If the video was videoing every shot in order he bowls on the same lane twice consecutive and then 3 times in the tenth frame
its definitely legal. you can look me up on bowl.com. im in the durham orange person association. the guy that was filming it was taking individual clips and he got them mixed up. but the proof is on the website.
Leave him alone, Earl Anthony! :-)
The 7 pin would of cleared the field on most of his shots lol, but they werent there, they exploded into oblivion XXXXXXXXX
Wow great job. Every shot crushed it in the pocket. Let’s go Brandon.
