    My favorite beakon tip is to get a kill, then, while they're spectating you running around after death, place a beakon in an accessible location. They're drawn like moths to a lamp directly to that location. Go paint a little, then come back for your free splat :) extra bonus because opponent will probably tilt a little bit and get thrown off ;)

    Sprinkler next maybe? Or even curling bomb, even though it is a bomb it is not often used as a bomb, rather a movement tool.

      I use it a lot with heavy. Ultimately you mostly want to use it to build special most of the time, otherwise hit up some maps in practice and find places where its difficult to shoot it from and will give your team paint to work with. The other option is to paint an area you really want but need to focus on another area first, letting you start on that area while you take another area back. It's passive so as long you can avoid dying you can paint a lot and regain map control quicker.
      There are two ways to use it aggressively, Against crab and against super jumpers. Sprinklers are harmless unless your standing right on top of one, in which case the dps is kind of absurd (put one on a dummy in the practice range and watch how fast it goes away). If someone is going full speed ahead of you, you can place a sprinkler in their path and in a lot of cases get a free splat. It can destroy crabs with support if your close enough to reach them and can aim it underneath them and if you place one on a super jump spot, it's either a free splat or their at 80 damage by the time they escape. It takes awareness and its use cases are very niche that you'll forget about these because the opportunities are so rare but it can be done.

    • @Random0king-tw5pn
      @Random0king-tw5pn 6 месяцев назад +1

      If you take the time to aim and cook it, it kills more often than you'd think. Nobody expects the curling bomb.

    I think the reason most people don’t like beakons is because beakons can be really hard to use in casual environments with no communication. I play wiper deco a lot in anarchy open and it’s criminal just how much my beacons go ignored by most of my teammates

    • @squiddler7731
      @squiddler7731 Год назад +17

      I like to call it beacon blindness, lol. Most people online seem to just be completely blind to beacons, friend and foe alike. Sometimes it works out in your favor though, when enemy players completely ignore them too

    • @NotSnak
      @NotSnak Год назад +8

      Honestly it feels like half the time people dont even know you can jump to players beakons that arent your own. Should probably be communicated better

    • @EnergyBurst2
      @EnergyBurst2 Год назад +6

      I've long felt this, in 3 and especially a lot in 2 I liked using the Dapple Dualies frequently and how often I'd place great beakons down just for my whole team to completely ignore them for the whole game was maddening, in fact I'd say that on average only 1 in 10 games would actually have someone in them that would jump to my beakons more then maybe once if that.

    • @squiddler7731
      @squiddler7731 Год назад +5

      I think what the devs should do is add a little notification when players use your beacons. Something like the little "refreshing!" text you get when people drink from your tacticooler. Dunno if it'd actually help teammates pay attention to beacons, but it would at least feel nice for the beacon user and maybe that nice feeling would help other people remember to use them.

    • @DragonOfSummer
      @DragonOfSummer Год назад +1

      Another thing that really hurt them was that only two weapons had beakons at launch, both of which don't mesh well with the casual environment. It feels like a lot of people wrote them off because of that. It wasn't until this season that we got weapons that'd draw in those who normally don't like the sub.

  • @DragonOfSummer
    @DragonOfSummer Год назад +6

    The best use of Squid Beakon is pooping a Squid Beakon in front of your enemy because you forgot you don't have a bomb.
    I love these videos, they're easy to understand and informative even for a casual player like myself. Squid Beakons have become one of my favourite subs in the game, they feel well designed and when you get those moments where your teammates use them it's so much fun. I'm in A rank now and the best experiences going up through the ranks have been A) Clam Blitz becomes actually fun because everyone has some understanding of what to do and B) people get progressively more attentive to your beakons.
    I'd love ink mines next. I want to try and learn the undercover brella but I can't wrap my head around them.

  • @meta4240
    @meta4240 Год назад +38

    This video was recommended to me by a friend because I'm picking up wiper deco. The part that caught my attention the most was the constant jumping to beakons in order to reposition and disorient the enemy team. I'll definitely have to try to implement that into my games.

  • @JakoBpyroTech
    @JakoBpyroTech Год назад +32

    As a long time Beakon user, I have something more to add, something that should influence your beakon placement:
    Enemy Wavebreakers. Its Shockwaves 1-shot beakons, literally washing them away. So if your opponents have a Wavebreaker, be careful placing beakons in places Wavebreaker commonly covers that would be otherwise safe. They will likely be removed without the Wavebreaker user even realizing what they did.
    I actually already knew most everything gone over here (though the Booyah Bomb dodging is a cool trick I haven't seen before)

    one incredibly impractical yet hilariously fun option beacons open up is the ability to trigger a roll from any location when you have drop roller equipped. this is almost entirely useless on most weapons, but with something like octobrush nouveau it can be a niche way to catch your opponents off guard when approaching them from behind cover (or even in the open if you’re feeling particularly deranged).

    I main beacon. Discovered it in spaltoon 2 with the octobrush nauvaue and fell in love with it. Reminded me of engi from tf2, I like the functionality of literally helping my team get back in the fight faster just like a teleporter and also in low level play -where I’m at- it’s hilarious to see players get frustrated not understanding what the squid beacon does. But seriously I like it for the team play aspect, I always draw towards support roles in team games and the beacon really scratches that “I’m helping my team” itch.

    Vanilla dapples has my favorite kit in the game but I want it on a different weapon. Not having a bomb for a short ranged weapon is very difficult to play with. I would love this kit for the next ballpoint or a stringer, and I’m not even much of a back line fan.

  • @MrMalix

    YES!! Beacons have not always been my go-to, but I’ve always seen their high potentional. One of my favorite meme builds is 3 pures of sub power up used on any beacon weapon. I used it a lot on Krakon Roller in Splatoon 2 for the rat behavior like at 13:09 and for sharking walls similar to 16:30. For Splatoon 3 (yes I grinded the build again), I’ve found it works really well on dapples of because of the high aggression, ability to dodge roll out of jumps, and tacticooler for instant respawns (sometimes you can be killed, and then get a revenge kill 2 seconds after, it’s ridiculous). Thanks Pika for covering this sub to it’s full potential, this video definitely hit home for me

    17:56 I remember actually doing this way back in splatoon 1 with krak-on roller, lol. It was never a "good" strategy, but it was always really cool and funny, and I think that was the weapon it worked best on by far. You could even use it with kraken for some absurdly silly kills cause it had a hitbox when you superjumped.
    Sadly with the vertical flick being introduced, it became impossible for roller to attack mid-jump before hitting the ground, and in splatoon 3 kraken royale can't super jump at all, so that's out too

  • @thomasanderson3003

    Honestly, most of the weapons I've mained over the years have had a kit with beacons, and most of the time that's been my favorite kit. I honestly think in a vacuum they're the strongest sub in the game, but in practice a few things hold them back. They're not always on the best weapons or kits, and having more than one beacon user on a team limits you. But disregarding that, honestly some games I play like dog water and can point out beacons as the reason my team won. The maps in 3 put beacons up on a pedestal because of how large certain maps are, you just save so much time on respawn over your opponents. Maps like eeltail, haggle fish, wahooworld, hammerhead, flounder heights, humpback, and I'm sure I'm missing a few more just are on a whole other level for this sub. They're really slept on.

    What are your thoughts on using beakon as a mini meat shield? Occasionally when my team has advantage, I'll place one at a choke point where a team fight could happen, like the enemy ramp to mid on barnacle zones for example. My thoughts process is this gives my team one or two extra shots to potentially survive longer in a fight if they can strafe behind it briefly during an exchange but not sure if this is a good use of my ink or time.

    • @itssoclover
      @itssoclover Год назад +4

      it's the most expensive sub in the game. i think you'd get more value pushing the enemy further back with your main, putting beakons in safe locations as a safety net, etc.
      i've usually seen people use sprinkler as a shield for slower fire rate weapons in the middle of the action, rather than preemptively, so i assume the same would go for beakon. it makes more sense that way because you force the enemy to break it mid engagement when they weren't accounting for it when deciding to take the fight. you still have to decide if it's worth 75% of your ink though.

      That can be a solid play in the right situation! The main concern is being sure you have enough ink to get away with it and not be immediately left without it. This is also somewhat of what I was referring to with the final point about using them as bait generally, but I didn't want to go too deep into it with how long the guide was already getting. It's also something I'll talk a lot more about with sprinkler!
