I've listened to this a countless number of times now. But it never fails to inspire me, pick me up, push me forward. Even the couple negative, hateful assholes who've commented on this just keep pushing me forward. My thighs...well, my thighs say replay.
his poem has such an amazing rhythm. At 1:52 begins the crescendo to a symphony of self-empowerment. And then Jill Scott's Golden at the end is just the cherry on top. Love it!
I fucking love the last part. Such a simple concept that is mostly always overlooked, "your body is YOUR BODY." No one else's, unless you want it to be, and that is absolutely fine since it's YOUR body.
I keep re-watching this. She draws people in with humor and hits them with the most powerful message. She holds nothing back. Amazing. She is perfect!!
Consistently I see passionate and powerful poems from Button Poetry's productions, but this transcends that. It is rare that I feel I've found a poem that covers all the angles, that is well-rounded. This is complete. It is art. It is a masterpiece.
I love love love how this poem begins as a seeming simple body image poem, but turns into a powerful, painful, proud statement of self-loathing and makes in important point of how you need to love yourself.
I loved it...it takes a lot to stand up and tell a story like that, shes definitely got talent...I felt it through her vocals and body language...again, I loved it!
I’ve listened to this poem a million and one times and I start crying at a different line every time. It’s a good litmus test for where I’m at emotionally
i just discovered this poem... i've always had a... thing with my thighs, i always felt they were an issue. "i shouldn't wear shorts, or a dress, or a swimsuit. why would i reveal my thighs? no. never". until a year ago (more or less). i started a journey through self acceptance, and more importantly: self love. the path is rough and tough, and so am i. and turns out, i am made of so many things. i am music, i am lyrics, i am poetry, i am movies, i am desserts, i am tears, i am sweat, i am sex, i am flowers, i am colors, i am dresses and shorts and swimsuits. i am love. right now i love myself so damn much and i wear whatever the fuck i want, sometimes with a little bit of fear, but always bold. bold as my thighs. you can't imagine how much i cried listening to this. have an amazing evening.
I love the poem and honestly, every girl should feel this way. But seriously, I kinda wish it would have been recorded full-body so we could SEE what she's talking about xD
This was amazing. It makes me sad that one of the greatest emotions and things to speak about is the hatred and fear men have put onto women, and less the love that we can share.
My thighs and I watch this video weekly as our couples therapy session.
Ohmygod same
And my thighs say: "YEAH, WHAT SHE SAID."
Haha, yes!
"My thighs say feminism, bitch." this poem is amazing.

I fucking love the last part. Such a simple concept that is mostly always overlooked, "your body is YOUR BODY." No one else's, unless you want it to be, and that is absolutely fine since it's YOUR body.
