I'm from the East, PA, NJ, NY, MD- we have striped bass (rockfish), fresh & saltwater fish, brackish water fish, big red drum, weakfish, Pike, Musky, smallies & LM Bass etc..., plus big invasives like blue catfish & snakehead. What a beautiful area you guys have there, I didn't realize you guys had such big smallies! Will put Idaho on my bucket list as a place to visit for sure!

That 7lb-er was a tank! One question for you that I've always wondered ... I'm exclusively a spinning gear guy (though I've tried and can use baitcasters, I just prefer spinning gear) ... when you use a spinning rod, you reel with your left hand, and so you don't switch hands after a cast. But on baitcasters you (and basically every other angler I've seen) cast with your right then switch hands so you reel with your right and carry the rod in your left ... is there a reason for that?

Honestly it’s something I’ve thought about taking the time to change. Whether it’s switching to a left handed reel or making casts with the left hand, but this was the way I was introduced to a baitcaster so it feels natural. It has not had any impacts on my fishing so I haven’t felt the need to switch tactics. Some will say you could miss a bite when switching hands but that is a very slim chance with the minimal amount of time to switch. I think for me, I feel more control casting and managing reel speed with my right hand. Hope that answers your question!

@@BrandonHua.Fishing That makes sense. I think most people do indeed learn that way. Someone waaaaay back must have done it and it just stuck. When I bought my first baitcaster I just bought a left hand reel and didn't switch. Maybe that was my problem, lol! Anyway, great video brother! Keep them coming!

That's a huge smallie, dang. If I had $1 for every time I got excited by a heavy fish only to pull up a wet sock pikeminnow....
