My husband and I love ours. Tows easy and have never gotten wet with severe rain storms and wind. We park with hitch into the wind. We ordered ours without an air conditioner.
I recently purchased a 2023 Scout Lite, and I can't say enough GREAT about this little guy. Only had it for a couple months, but I've gone camping many times in that space, and I love it for so many reasons. With the A/C and the tiny space heater I bring on board, I think this truly is a 3 to 4 season camper. It pulls beautifully behind my Subaru Outback. I'm one of those people who enjoys cooking on a fire pit or my propane stove outdoors, so this camper really fits the bill. I recommend it highly. Seems that every campground I visit, my Scout Lite is a topic of conversation with my fellow campers!!
@@eduardoyanez3375 when I purchased the camper, I had a '21 Premium Outback. I recently purchased a '24 Onyx XT model....upped the towing capacity by 1,000 lbs and has about 100 more ponies. Ironically I have yet to pull the camper because I'm up at my summer home, and the trailer is back at the winter house. But I'm sure I'll feel a big difference between the two cars.
This us really all I need. I still love roughing it with tent camping, but as I'm get a bit older, I think I'd like it a bit less rough lol. This is basically a tent on wheels, a place to sleep and change clothes. This would be perfect for my girlfriend and I.
Yeah. A-liners are best enjoyed when viewed as a “really amazing tent,” - it you were looking for “a cheap or light RV.” - will likely be disappointed.
Love PJ to bits. She's the best at these types of walkthroughs. Stating what this size model "starts" at price range wise should really be included. The segment is time stamped so someone watching this yrs later would expect the price to have changed. I can't imagine someone watching this segment who likes the trailer would "not" want to know roughly what they start at price wise. Thankyou, the trailer looks well made yet lightweight too.
P.J. I love your presentation and very pleasant to watch. I did purchase one recently in AZ. It does require some touch-up modification or repairs to fit my needs.
This is what I'm probably gonna get. The advantages on towing a unit vs. , the full size 7 foot tall units is astromical. No trailer wagging and to be able to see over the top of the camper is good too.
Id simply just pull that aC back inside that top cabinet. 🤷Oh well for that space . ROLL it out on site cabinet drawer design for the air . You can do it . 👍
What I want is a bed, a small sink, a toilet and shower, a small refrigerator, and AC. I want a simple motel room, nothing extra. You cook outside, rough it, if you have to, or get take-out. Basically, it's a tent with a bathroom and AC. Electric blanket, try one of those water tube mattress toppers. They are popular in Japan. Basically, a mattress topper and surgical tube run through it. Small heater, pump.
That spot PJ pointed out just inside the door is probably too small except for a kiddie pottie. A small model could go under the rear bunk or under the counter to the right of the sink, if you devise a way to get it over the lip at the bottom.
As the media guy (sorry, I'm not PJ) I have to direct to you to someone in our parts department to help you with options and pricing on equipment like that. They know what they are able to source and the costs associated. partsroundrock@princesscraft.com
Very well, provided it was put together properly. Mine had a piece of weatherstripping glued on crooked, and once the silicone that they shot in the gap wore away (after 1 season), it leaked. I had to reposition the weatherstrip.
I have never seen a liner with an awning. I’m curious is there any ability to attach some thing that could be put up or taken down with the assembly of the unit?
They do make some commercial awnings that fit a-frames. I use a 9x12 tarp, tie it to a zip tie around the pivot of the high wind kit at the peak and at both corners front and back. Three canopy poles and it makes a nice peaked canopy. 10 min. setup.
The bubble windows on Aliners in Australia pop up to allow for better airflow! AND, they do not leak! Biggest problem with Aliners - poor air flow! Not enough windows that open.
As the scout is often used for off grid camping, I'm surprised (and disappointed) that there isn't a 12v cigarette socket in the camper...it has a solar plug in, but no 12v plug in?
We have the Scout Park model 14’ and the air conditioner is the same way. I questioned it when we purchased it….but it’s really not as big of deal as I thought it would be. No propane tanks on ours either so I mounted a small box on the front behind battery box. Keep the wheel, Jack handle, chords and chalks in it perfectly. Great little campers 👍
I just hate the bubble dome windows, they are the first place water leaks. Have the option of not having them. The shades don't block out the light enough and you can't really see out them. They are a waste of time.
Bubble window is great when you're lying in the bunk looking out at the sky or trees (during daytime) or sitting on the front bench looking out back. It has a brownish tint, so not good at night.
I wouldn't want the AC where it is. I would rather use a portable AC. The AC should not be where it could get damaged or where the wind could damage the fins. Sales persons who needs them I'm for online buying and just pick up the item.73
Lots of factors go into determining what you need to tow a trailer safely. I tow my Scout Lite with a Rav4 hybrid, 1750 lb tow rating, and it tows great, but I wouldn't stress it by towing a lot in big mountains or taking 1,000 mile trips. A car with a 1500 lb tow rating wouldn't be advisable. Once you load it with what you'll need you'll be at or over the limit. My Scout Lite is 1535 lbs with everything in it. Tongue weight is another concern. All the A-liners have brakes so you'd also want a brake controller, even if brakes are technically not required in your state for that size trailer.
Like the other comment mentioned, same strength as RVs built with same materials. Bears will get into any RV if it wanted to. I’d like to think having some hard walls like these will be more of a deterrence though lol
It's so deceptive that RV and Sailboat companies always use the tiniest person to show their wares. That's a nice tiny trailer for a 5' woman, but what about a typical 6'+ man?
{shrug} It is what it is. If you need something bigger, bigger trailers are available. And they weren't deceptive; she stated very early on in the video that she is only five feet tall.
Riveted in. The problem is not that it's going to come loose, but that the rattling and bumping when driving down the road will cause it to need periodic replacing.

I like the idea but not the price. I don't like acs that hang out. My window units only hang out 11 inches, 4 inches past the sill. I'm sure aliner could have picked a better AC unit. 73
Haha, at least the houses were designed to "leak!" Leaks are a possibility with any fold up trailer especially. You have to keep an eye on the seals and maintain them. Mine is a 2022 Scout Lite and I had a leak because they glued some weatherstripping on crooked in the factory. A Casita or a Scamp would be nice, but they don't fit in my garage (requirement in my area) and cost quite a bit more.
LOL!! The weight of the unit is NEVER what you need as a final weight. Take into consideration all of the camping equipment you will be loading it up with and add that to the weight your vehicle will be pulling or hauling. I love the fact that it does not obstruct your rear view when you're traveling. It's a breeze to pull.
I'm 6'1" and have enough headroom in the standing area, and fit fine in the bunks, though the front one is very narrow at 30". The headroom at the peak is 7' 1". One of the attractions of the A-frame versus something like a small teardrop is that you can stand up straight in it. You have to be careful when sitting on the bunks/benches, though! The soft front dormer, which I have, gives you a lot more headroom on the front bench/bunk.
