Remember when Tegan Nox was voicing her frustrations about not getting TV time? Did Triple H keep her under contract? The answer is no. She wasn't being used, they had no plans for her, so they let her go. If no one wants to be in their promotion then just let them go. It's not that hard. I don't understand why Tony Khan has to make things so difficult for himself. He doesn't need Rey Fenix cause he's already got a lot of Rey Fenixes. He's got Hologram, he's got Beast Mortos, he's got Rush, he's got Bandido, he's got Kommander, he's got Dralistico, he's got Ricochet, he's got Will Ospreay, he's got Sammy Guevera, he's got all these guys that do daredevil high flying moves. He doesn't need Rey Fenix. Tony Khan really is trying to ruin his short reputation as a wrestling promoter.
Just let Moro, Ricky Starks, Rey Fenix, and Miss DMD as well let them walk!
We shouldn't be that surprised cause didn't Punk mention in his interview with Ariel Hiwani that he had similar experiences when he had his shoulder injury, that he needed to find an expert & doctor to do the surgery on his own and pay out his own pocket as well. This is another prominent 'soon to be ex-wrestler' of AEW voicing his frustrations and one has to question WTF is going on in AEW within.

Of course I’m no expert at contracts, but I think there should be a rule to protect the wrestlers when it comes to extending time. If you’re going to extend their time due to injury, there should have to be a commitment from the company that you will use the talent and if you don’t, that talent is able to walk away from their contract. This could hopefully help to avoid companies holding people hostage just for the sake of holding people hostage. I get why they’re doing it but by doing this to him in the long run, will just make AEW look even worse because people now know Tony is doing this in spite. And I get it WWE has done it as well in the past, so I say this, as it should apply to all companies.
It's a difficult situation. I could say yes we will use you and have you lose every match. That wrestler could say no I'm not doing that. So that can be another problem. I say losing every match is more harmful to talent than not showing up. How can we miss you if you show up every night. Idk much about contracts either but can it be possible for the talent to negotiate that "injury time" clause out of said contract. My opinion. Stay home. Take the check. Get healthy. Prepare for your next step.
@ that’s a really good point. I guess we need to make sure to look at both sides as each have their own positives and negatives. Like you said maybe it’s better for people to miss you then see you be used to lose matches over and over again. it’s really hard to say what the answer should be. Maybe the answer is that the extended contract clause should be removed entirely and can only be used if there’s an agreed-upon extension of a contract. I guess it just sucks seeing any talent be forced to stay somewhere they don’t want to.

Similar to WWE, if Fenix got injured on the job then it's up to Tony 'The Tiger' Khan to allow Fenix to go immediately seek medical assistance and provide him workman's compensation for the on site injury. Of course, he isn't doing that.

I hear Tony reimburses them, which is shady cause he can easily ghost them when the money is supposed to be paid back!
But how does he not pay for surgeries for who was his number one draw in cm punk at the time? If he did that to his top guy, god only knows what the others were or are going through rn in terms of injuries (that happened in AEW) & the lack of communication.

What else could he have been talking about? Considering his brother is a free agent yet he got his contract extended by a year while he's gonna do absolutely nothing and won't be booked on AEW TV for a year while he's staying at home. Especially with his boss saying he won't be a Vince McMahon type boss while he's pulling a Vince move
God forbid an independent contractor look for his own doctor. Did Rey want TK to find a doctor, make the appointment, and then for TK to hold his hand walking to the doctor's office??? This all sounds like a SMEAR CAMPAIN just a day before tickets for ALL IN Texas go on sale.
Punk and Fenix can be grown adults and set up a doctors appointment by themselves and bill the company.
This isn’t really about looking for a doctor. It’s about the company not even knowing their talent is hurt. Not knowing if they’re getting quality treatment & rehab. Not knowing their progress either with treating the injury, healing, or training afterwards.
It's not so much about choosing a doctor, it's about the company following up on their talent. Cm punk stated when he was recently injured at the rumble in wwe, he would get weekly calls from wwe to ensure he is okay and there is progress.
In aew, sounds like you get hurt and no one follows up with you regarding your progress
Plus, tony has stated in the past that if a talent gets injured in aew, the company would pay. Well, rey and cm punk were aew talent and injured in aew so.....
WWE have a Doctor for their talents because they are a professional company who takes care of their talents.
