My mom's not exacly "slim" (sorry mom :P) and every car seat feels the same to her. but as soon as she sat in these recaro seats, she said it was comfertable, that it feels great and that it hugs you around corners. this honestly is the first time hearing someone say that they dont like them awsom seats
wow, everyone that I know actually likes the Recaro Mitsubishi seats. There is also a reason whyFerrari, lamborghini, Porshe, Mercede and BMW chose Recaro seats to have as stock seats for some of their cars. They work and are amazing.
This is the only journalist I have ever heard who dislikes the Recaro's. He must be a taller gentlemen. I understand if you're either very tall, very wide or short you won't like them. Average height between 5'7-5'11 you should be fine.
the 2007-present Mitsubishi Lancer/ Galant Fortis (Japan)/ Lancer Fortis (Taiwan)/ Lancer iO (Taiwan)/ Lancer EX (Indonesia, El Salvador, Panama, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippines & Middle East)/ Lancer Serie R (Chile) is assembled in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan
@spriteremix02 the powertrain and drivetrain, yes an detuned evo(but barley detuned) the rest of it wheels, suspension, chasis, brakes, and most of it is barley an uptuned lancer. they balance out the power/drivetrain is close to an evo and the rest is like a lancer. slicing it self right in the middle. i own one now and its great. its hard to classify but its a lot of fun
The only reason that someone would think those seats are terrible is if they are too fat to fit properly. Good job, Joe, you called your coworkers fat. Everyone else, who is normal sized, loves them.
@spriteremix02 How is the powertrain the same as the EVO?!? It's a single scroll with different pipings. The drivetrain is also not the same as the current EVO, it's from the previous gen which is pretty much in the stone age compared to what's in the EVO currently. It's an uptuned lancer...which is fine. It's still a very fun car to drive...and much less likely to break your back.
@spriteremix02 No it really is an uptuned lancer, not a detuned EVO. It doesn't have the EVO chassis, it has the standard lancer chassis. And this is from somebody who actually likes the ralliart quite a bit.
I don't need your belief. I merely stated a factual experience. Believe it or don't. It makes ~300hp crank and ~260-ish whp. There are 5 other people in my local area running the same exact tune. It's much better than Accessport and it also unlocks the ECU.
That's exactly what I was thinking! This guy and everyone who hates the Recaro racing seats can just go to hell... They're HIGH PERFORMANCE RACING SEATS and they hug you more so you're sitting better for better driving! I LOVE THE NEW RALLIART TOO :D
@GetSomeHomeBoy1 its not a standard feature. it comes in the sun and sound package and maybe just as an add. i have the sun and sound in my lancer which just means it has a sunroof and a rockford fosgate sound system with a 10" sub in the trunk
Well because of where my tuner put the shift points, how it builds boost, the fact that the smaller turbo spools faster etc. It can easily beat a stock GSR due to the speed of the sst shifts alone. Also in regards to the MR, the MR and launch control limit first gear power on the MR. The Ralliart doesn't have launch control and 100% of the power is available in first gear. Overall I hit a max 24 PSI that comes on quickly. Rather than the Evo with a bigger turbo and more upper power band boost.
What are you on about "9th generation Evolution", each new Evo is not classed as a generation, generations are defined by a change of chassis which happens after every 3 evolutions so if you are referring to the Evo 9 4WD system you should of said 3rd generation Evo's because the Evo 7 & 8 also share the same 4WD system.
@spriteremix02 No, the powertain isn't a detuned EVO. A detuned evo engine would have the same pipings and a twin scroll running lower PSI...or maybe a smaller intercooler or a softer ECU. The similarity is that the engine block is the same...which is also the same as the normal lancers (sans the GLS which has a 2.4). Trust me, you can't even stick an EVO intercooler or exhaust system into the ralliart without doing some major change up. Not the same powertrain.
i believe anything is possible. but if your ralliart is making 300 crank horse with the tune, how is it beating a modded evo x that makes 291 crank horse stock? unless all the mods are purely cosmetic
being that ive owned a 92x aero and 2 sti (2005&2008 HB) and now owning a 2005 evo i can honestly say i do miss subaru but the handling and matinence and mods for that matter are so much better for the evo also the subaru is to wide
I drive a $12,000 Getrag SST: automated manual. The SST is 2, 3 speed manuals combined at the bottom of it all...I've used this tune with and without the GSR intercooler which I now have...Makes no difference..Only over long period of time when heatsoak is a problem, does it ever make a difference. Evo turbo is still bigger...drive one, the lag is still there compared to tiny ralliart turbo. Launch control is better than most human abilities. Unless you have money for a new clutch each week..
@COOLRADIUM Nor cal...and i consider prices high here. In so cal, you can get RA for a grand less then up here and EVOs start at 30 grand for new bare GSR. A fully loaded RA means it has the premium package and nav package...which is like 5 grand of add ons so 29 grand isn't too bad as the MSRP on that is suppose to be 34 grand. Course the better question why?!? Get a normal RA, pay 25 grand :P .
If you don't spend every day on the track, these Recaros are terrible for daily driving and longer trips. They also make the lack of a telescoping steering wheel an even bigger problem for the Ralliart and Evo.
I've been waiting for someone to say that about the seats but you said it about the wrong model, i want someone to say that about the base model seats.
@5hak3itup No, it stays in first. You have to push the transmission lever to neutral yourself, I imagine that this way you wont blow up the engine or get rear-ended if you downshifted too much at the red light.
@Markierant37 Depends how tall you are. I'm 6'3 210lbs or so, and I had recaro's installed in my vette, and they were terrible, almost painful to ride in. All my buddies who were 5'11 or shorter loved them. I had to get corbeau a4's custom fitted. If you aren't actively tracking, these aggressive seats will just hurt your back.
Please....Why not get a GSR for 2 or 3 grand extra? The price point for the RA is hard to comprehend. If the RA is an up-tuned Lancer why does it cost 29 grand? A regular well equiped Lancer cost around 21 grand. A 8,000 price differents is too rediculous. They should sell it for around 24 or 25 gee's IMHO.
@COOLRADIUM that extra 8k gets u a turbo charged intercooled engine, a twin clutch transmission, and one of the most advanced all wheel drive systems on the market
@Nagidar23 Alright that's cool. the body roll that it does have just felt more significant than the 09 mazdaspeed 3. Yeah, you're right i'm sure its not a lot. It has the last generations evo MR suspension with a heavier body. Thus making it not as communicative as before, but yeah the body roll isn't that bad.
@laukc7085 You mod the RA to EVO levels not because you can't afford the EVO (because a RA modded to EVO levels will be pretty close to the EVO price), but because you can't afford the insurance. If your young and you wanna insure an EVO on your own...well good luck. Have a ticket or two to make matter worse and your easily looking at more then your car payments for insurance. Hell I'm not young, but with the crazy ticking they do in cali these days, an EVO ins was more then 2x car payments.
@flipmodified66 One would hope that 2million bucks (2000 grand) would let you be as fast as an EVO. The issue isn't power...it's the handling. To get the RA to take the corners as well as an EVO is gonna take a LOT of money. To get it to handle well enough in general requires 235 tires at the very least, which means a new set of rims. Sway bars, spring and casters is about 2g at least to get you in the same class as the EVO.
no im talking about older porsche like a 944 turbo,968, or mybe a 928, first 2 is 4cylinders, the 944 turbo (951) will go less than 10,000...ive compared a few facts, the 951 will accelarate a whole second faster than this car will make a little less than the same hp
Well I own the car so first off it's not 29k Sticker, it's 27k; got mine for 26k with extra accessories ILVRACN is just ranting without any base, like most bashers. The car is definitively a differnt animal. Nothing of what I tested compares to it (GTI, WRX, SI, Genesis Coupe 2.0T) it's got its own attitude. and only one I found a TAD faster, like a 1 tiny tent of a sec faster, was the new 09' WRX... all the rest just fall behind in performance and tech but it is NOT an EVO, and will never be
Body roll...well, I have seen the Impreza on many videos and life, and it has a lot of body roll, so, both are almost the same, from my point of view. If you dont want body roll, there is always a good Eibach or H&R suspension kit. About the tires, get Toyo Proxes, Falken or Hankook Ventus.
@COOLRADIUM The actual price that RA sell for is around 25 grand tho. I mean even during peak car buying season, you get RA for 25ish. End of year will be lower.
@flipmodified66 Your gonna need fully adjustable coilover and camber set to actually hang with the EVO and that's another 2+ grand. As for buying used...if your financing and you have good credit...umm no. 0.9% interest + dealer discounts will generally get you new cars for about the cost of slightly used. RA can be had for 25 grand from dealer pretty easily. WIth interest that is about 26 grand. If the slighly used is more then 19 grand, your overall cost is more then new at ~6% rate.
Terrible Recaro seats? Because bolsters are high? So if they were low, then Joe wouldn't complaint? I don't think so. He probably would've said that the seats are lacking support and that you're tossed like a bag of potatoes when going aggresive into turns, and that he wishes Mitsubishi had put more bolsters into the seats.
yea i know , for me a "car" would be a really nice 951, or a 968 turbo, somethin that has a great potential to be a lot faster ya know, i would rather pay the same for obe of those, if this had more power then around 250hp then it would be more apealling for me, the 951 has mybe 10 less hp and its a lot older, im just compareing.
@kicksoffs Mini cooper John cooper works, Honda Civic Si, Subaru Impreza Wrx, Chevy Colbalt SS, VW Gti, Mazdaspeed 3. In that order each of those vehicles are farrrr greater than this PIECE.
no it is an automatic but you can use the paddle shit and go manual its jhust not the ole stick but you can set it back to auto if you like but i like manual but i wish there was a clutch tho like on the floor like the gas n break...hope that helped
you drive an automatic, go figure. The evo x has a dual scroll turbo on it so it takes advantage of the low end torque and high end power combined with a bigger intercooler. whoever you were racing was using launch control on an evo? that proves they dont know how to drive
he's becoming the best here still can't "sell it" to the real car guys though. i hated joe at first but i will take him over anyone else here. prob is they seem to use tech nerds to host instead of having someone else on payroll. so we're left standing in the middle of a barfight backed up by revenge of the nerds. joe is getting it though. he seems to take criticism well.
thats funny how you all got worked up over me just sayin id rather have a porsche for the same price lol even though one for less the price and even half could out perform it.... it was simply an opinion lol i didnt put down this car at all either, i even said it was quick and a good car...sure its got a few luxary's an porsche would like the windsheild wipers slowing down depending on speed or awd.
@flipmodified66 With only 17,000 miles on it, with warranty that goes to 50, 0000. We are in a recession people. You can hassle those mofos at the dealers like crazy right now. They need to sell cars. So if you dont mind getting a used one with low miles and save 8 grand, i highly recommend it.
@ColdNapalm42 I guess people in NY are getting robbed. They up sell the RA in NY if what you're saying is true. When I bought my EVO X, I saw a RA for 29 grand. The guy said It was fully loaded. "Whatever that means".!! You in from the South/midwest? I heard cars are cheaper there.
yea ok you ppl arent smart at all, why would i be talking about a new porsche, im talking about something in the same ball park, a 944 turbo can be bought for less than this car and perform better
@mrblockboii I'll play the devil's advocate here, and assume that outside of a relatively small age range, not everyone wants to hoist themselves out of bolstered, unheated (etc) seats. I personally really like them, but to each his/her own I guess. I agree that he seemed to completely miss the point of the seats though...
I love the recaros in my Sportback Ralliart. They're so comfortable and I find easy to get in and out of and I'm a 220lbs 6'3 guy
My mom's not exacly "slim" (sorry mom :P) and every car seat feels the same to her. but as soon as she sat in these recaro seats, she said it was comfertable, that it feels great and that it hugs you around corners. this honestly is the first time hearing someone say that they dont like them awsom seats

This car do much more than we can see on this video. It can drift in the snow, as example.
if your in first gear and u hit the downshift does it take it to neutral?
is tht a sub standard in the trunk?
It's actually not that bad, its tighter then the normal GTS suspension, but softer then the Evo's, it fits quite nicely in the middle.
i love that grill look . they should put it on the stock model too !
the 2007-present Mitsubishi Lancer/ Galant Fortis (Japan)/ Lancer Fortis (Taiwan)/
Lancer iO (Taiwan)/ Lancer EX (Indonesia, El Salvador, Panama, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippines & Middle East)/ Lancer Serie R (Chile) is assembled in
Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan
Actually, it has the AWD system from the Evo IX and a GTS suspension tuned for the Ralliart.
He forgot to mention the turbocharged engine that produces 237 horses not to mention the AWD!!
The only reason that someone would think those seats are terrible is if they are too fat to fit properly.
Good job, Joe, you called your coworkers fat.
Everyone else, who is normal sized, loves them.
How can you complain about the seats those are the best seats I have ever sat on.
the shifting on this is hella sick its gonna make rally car drives have it way easier well sorta
Can this car be raceable?
@spriteremix02 How is the powertrain the same as the EVO?!? It's a single scroll with different pipings. or to be simple, SST works like a manual internally but operation is like automatic, u can leave it in D.

haha.
Middle. hmm...kinda of like it.
:)
omg the RECARO SEATS ARE FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR
IT NEEDS A MANUAL
Seats depend on the person. I found the driver's seat is bigger (wider) than the passenger.
being that ive owned a 92x aero and 2 sti (2005&2008 HB) and now owning a 2005 evo i can honestly say i do miss subaru but the handling and matinence and mods for that matter are so much better for the evo also the subaru is to wide

I agree, real cars have clutches.

It's almost as fast as an Evo but gets better gas mileage and it isn't as expensive to own...poser? ya i don't think so.
awesome car with a good price
this is not an automatic gearbox. there is no torque converter
no its a detuned evo not a uptuned lancer
yea, ralliart meant wrx equivalent
this guy was really lackluster in his review. almost like he had a cold or something.
Well I own the car so first off it's not 29k Sticker, it's 27k; got mine for 26k with extra accessories ILVRACN is just ranting without any base, like most bashers.
The car is definitively a differnt animal. Its not a automatic, think of it as a manual without a clutch pedal, look up twin clutch or sst or dsg
@rubberbandman03 that just means the transmission will prob last longer
Someone needs to go back to pre-school.
you get 2 clutches !, it'd probably be a bit cheaper tho if they offered the traditional 5 spd =\
I like it, but i'd way rather get a WRX over this.
With Open source tune and no parts my '10 Ralliart destroyed a modded evo 9 by 4 car lengths+. Also destroyed lightly modded evo X MR.
yea but i dont live in canada
with a second turbo it is.. lol?
@ColdNapalm42 WOAH calm down little fellow. i said the powertrain is a detuned evo. i did not say its an evo/very simmilar but not as hot.
yea i know , for me a "car" would be a really nice 951, or a 968 turbo, somethin that has a great potential to be a lot faster ya know, i would rather pay the same for obe of those, if this had more power then around 250hp then it would be more apealling for me, the 951 has mybe 10 less hp and its a lot older, im just compareing.

Jesus, for $29k I'll take the new 2011 WRX fully loaded over this any day.
my friend just bought this car its prty sweet , it picks up prty good but id still drive pic my 07 sti haha
I LOVE MITSUBISH LANCER
no it is an automatic but you can use the paddle shit and go manual its jhust not the ole stick but you can set it back to auto if you like but i like manual but i wish there was a clutch tho like on the floor like the gas n break...hope that helped
you drive an automatic, go figure. The evo x has a dual scroll turbo on it so it takes advantage of the low end torque and high end power combined with a bigger intercooler. whoever you were racing was using launch control on an evo? that proves they dont know how to drive
nice vid
he's becoming the best here still can't "sell it" to the real car guys though. i hated joe at first but i will take him over anyone else here.
prob is they seem to use tech nerds to host instead of having someone else on payroll. so we're left standing in the middle of a barfight backed up by revenge of the nerds.
joe is getting it though. he seems to take criticism well.
its faster that any another japanese car(fit, civic, altima, accord, camry, maxima)
+1 for lancer love
thats funny how you all got worked up over me just sayin id rather have a porsche for the same price lol even though one for less the price and even half could out perform it.... it was simply an opinion lol i didnt put down this car at all either, i even said it was quick and a good car...sure its got a few luxary's an porsche would like the windsheild wipers slowing down depending on speed or awd.
i have one like this.. it's literaly eating the road!
He's the least nerdy of the bunch.
237 HP... aint bad for $29k the GTS over here costs that much... thats not cool
my gf's bro just got one of these, pretty quick i guess, but id rather have a porsche for the same price...
@ColdNapalm42 I see. Interesting info. Thank you......
good city car
wow this guy don't know how to review a car
for an extra 3k id just go with an evo gsr.
yeah i'm dissappointed, GIVE US A CLUTCH!
uh yea, a 944 turbo would cost less than this car and perform and handle better, if not that a 928 or 968 for the same price... easy
upload a video of your 10 ralliart destroying a modded evo X and then ill believe you
who doesnt like recaros....
Lol the Recaro seats are "terrible"
@NissanTy dont need to tune and evo VIII to stomp a ralliart :)
for the price of that car why not just get an evo? hell better yet, get an evo 8, tune it, and whip this things ass.
