    🚨!! Guys I got back the laptop in the mail and it turns out they replaced the entire OLED module and the main board, and the unit was in warranty. I have my suspicions about why they may have done that. Anyways, a lot of the data on the drive was corrupted thanks to the dell automatic OS recovery software that ran automatically. At Least 400GB of video footage, and other files are corrupted/unrecoverable.

    the moral of the story , Buy a desktop! Buy It, Built it & Bang it! Its the BEST!

      I wouldn't say this is the moral of the video, desktops are great though. Nothing beats the portability and flexibility that a laptop has, in combination with cloud servers, you can work from anywhere.

      @@VerrilloTrading You need a nas where you can holds your backups. Synology nas is good option, if you dont want burn your time. I use Clonezilla for backup and i backup entire HDD -> image option. Later restore takes about 15-20 minutes and you have full restore of system and files. Clonezilla is freeware.
      I use role workstation intel nuc I7 13gen with 2 hdmi and 2 thunderbolt output which allows me connect up to 4 monitors and 9 years old i5 Dell laptop for travelling it is little bit slow but doing job done. With nas you can sync data folders with both machines...
      A cloud server means that you keep your files and data on someone else's computer. It can't be safe, but it's convenient.

      And carry a desktop on your bag? Sorry, bro, but a LOT of people need notebooks.

    When i worked in IT, we used to have so many different brands we had to deal with.
    Asus/Dell xps/Surface were always a pain... always breaking, always had driver issues, when you take them apart you need a trillion different screwdrivers etc.
    Toshiba/lenovo were easy well built, we had toshiba going back years that never needed anything fixed on them. The only thing annoying with lenovo was their docking stations.
    I'm by no means an expert... and everyone has their opinions but that was my experience.

      Thank you for sharing, it definitely confirms my existing belief. Man I do love this ASUS with the OLED screen but the thing sometimes feels like skating on thin ice. Read my pinned comment, I got the machine back and it turns out the replaced the entire OLED module without that being the problem.
      Next time around we're most probably going with Lenovo.

    So I have a dell G7 15 which for 5 years I've used specifically for trading. The fan runs like crazy! One of the reasons that I found out was IKBR uses Chromium engine for TWS. Chromium is a power hungry mess. I use the Dell because Microsoft has native multiple monitor support, and MAC doesn't. However, the new M4 Macs are coming out soon and have this feature now. The new ARM chips are fantastic. I will be trying one out when they come out and after I see the several RUclipsrs I follow test them. Once I verify that the new Macs can work for me...( Full disclosure, I have an M2 Mac air and its great).The Dell and MS products are gone forever. BTW, love the videos, you've helped me immensely in my IKBR journey. Thanks

      Thank you for sharing! I've never been a Mac guy but I respect that they have one of the most stable systems these days. They just work, especially for certain tasks like music production, and coding workflow.

      so does that mean IBKR uses more CPU core than GPU? So get better CPU over GPU?

    • @commercegil
      @commercegil 2 дня назад

      @@zo9fg That I can't tell you. However, I feel in my research that the new MAC GPU's will be fine, we will see. I don't think the graphics for trading are anywhere near what you'd need for gaming. All I know is, I have to go to the task manager every morning and keep shutting off Chromium until the fan quits.I watched a bunch of videos on how to delete Chromium off my computer, but it kept showing up. That's when I found out that IKBR TWS uses it and keeps loading it on my machine. My dell works just fine for me and I really don't need to change anything except I could probably get a fan controller and go that route but the processor would then run hotter. Its a blessing and a curse.

    That's why I use ThinkPad. Why don't u have a NAS backup instead? Just plug HDD into router. What software do u use to sync up files on laptop to backup drive?

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  День назад +1

      I may set up a Network attached storage. I just do local backups using Timeshift and zip those images.

    WTF. Well I have a great Dell that im terrified of now. I only use Linux VMs cause Im all Apple guy. Im not a fan of regulars windows anything. Great video though bro. Youre way more tech then I am so if this happened to me on Windows. Holy fuck man

    • @VerrilloTrading
      @VerrilloTrading  День назад

      Do regular backups is all I can say lol. The dell was overall good except for the craziness of auto bios updating. It is clearly not foolproof when it comes to dual boot setups like I have. What I have seen is that when Windows was installed on another machine and you put the hard drive in a new machine, it can create all sorts of weird security issues. Definitely do backups before porting over a windows hard drive into another machine.

    How do you know the files are corrupted, when you cant read the Linux files in windows ? Just wondering if you have a false positive - so-to-speak. .... Sorry this happened bro, wish I understood Linux a bit more to have some ideas. Mutahar (someOrdianry Gamer) Canadian guy on RUclips is a big Linux user, wonder if he has any ideas. I have a weird feeling the files are saying corrupt, because Windows cant read the files and doesnt understand the file structure
