Thanks for the demo. I prefer the BLA on your voice - much smoother, especially in the highs, but also generally. Far fewer plosives as well. Thanks for doing this!
A different capsule will not change plosives dude. He is obviously taking more care speaking into the black panty pooter mic. Buy yourself a $7 pop filter and learn to use eq…which you have to do with pretty much any mic..just different frequencies. 🤷♂️
i bought the CV-12 because of you and i love it! that said, i've definitely had to fight with those high-mids when mixing, and that BLA completely nails it!
I know what you mean, that high end is what makes the original so special for the right applications. But the new one is soooooo SMOOTH. It's almost like a U87.
I’ve watched this 4 or 5 times already. On my monitors, on my mixing headphones, on cheap and not so cheap earphones... On a vocal recording, I think the regular CV12 sounded better for my taste... Would love to test it on acoustic guitars! Thanks for the review, Lewis!
The BLA sounds more neutral and has more depth/dynamic range.. in my experience this ends up processing better. Mics like this usually take EQ and compression better.
I used to own both of these mics. I have to say the BLA one sounded way better on everything I did. Not saying that the original is bad. Not at all, But the BLA model was way superior at the end. The only issue I had with the BLA model was that I had to return it because of a defect. At the end I sold the original one and the BLA was returned. I now own the Miktek mk300 and Im a very happy camper Lol.
I'm interested in the Miktek mk300, how does this compare to the cv 12 bla! Is it worth buying a cv12 original or the bla.. if I already have a mk300 ? Thanks..
@@srbh1233 the Miktek mk300 is good enough for everything and every day use in the studio. Now, the cv12 original or the bla modded one are going to sound very different to the Miktek. The only thing I do have to say about the original cv12 is that it tends to be bright depending on the vocal so you need to be careful with the way you process it.
been wanting to buy one, i mean the BLA but i have heard of scary stories about quality issues! and the shock mount is said to be so bad compared to the shockmount of the original.
How noisy bla is? I get my from reverb, change tube, but it still very low signal and hi level of white noise, so is it my mic bad, or is it normal for it?
That does sound strange to me. You might have a defective microphone. If I were you I'd contact Avantone and see what they can suggest. Tell them I sent you!
its not really a shoot this no context just narration so it just is a diff sound on one source, could have got a duck to quack maybe or a gong, nice mics
AND notice how he is much more careful speaking into the bla version. With the original he’s all over the place and purposely accentuating the plosives. Stupid. He probably gets some money from the black panty pooters
They are completely different mics from the SM7b. These are condensor microphones, the SM7b is a dynamic. The original CV12 is $499 and the updated one is $699.
The CV12 might sound better on his voice, but there's a more even frequency response with the CV12BLA. With simple EQ, you can carve the tone you want. The CV12BLA I bet takes EQ really well. The low end, low mids and mids are tighter and more even. The highs are more 3D as well vs the CV12. It's a different mic basically, but for $699, that's kind of a steal.

Just eq it out🙄

Agree, sounds great on acoustic guitars man
It does sound a bit more crunchier in the high mids which is probably a good thing... starting off with already clear sound technically
I agree. 👍
Great demo!
The BLA version seems to have better bass and more compressed or smoother sounding. The older one is good too in its own way
Great mic demo; thanks!
Thanks! Great review, just the music was too loud compared to the speaker

The original sounds larger than life. The BLA sounds much more neutral but still excellent.

And compared to the miktek which one is better for vocals preferably rap in your opinion

Original is better imo
Pop filter anyone?
Can I get one in Australia?
Do you know how the cv12bla compares to a shure ksm44?
I prefer the Trion 8000 on your voice.

Is it better than the sm7b shure mic? Price?

He didn’t ask if it was a condenser or a dynamic mic brah…😳

I really like the original to the black panty Pooter version. Don’t hate on me for taking some sales from them brah
Original sounds better
Ha ha hah hah
