How to Make String Trellis

  • This trellis is perfect for light weight plants such as growing beans, and delicate vines. Only strings, and stakes are required! Keep in mind this trellis is not meant to last for years especially because I used a natural material.

I love this for the therapeutic value. I have some jutes, some broken broom sticks and quite a bit of bean seeds. I think I will try this. I think I will do it over the course of the next few weeks though. Thanks for sharing.

I saw some folks who used those kind of stakes . Because the stakes are really hard to get deep to be sturdy with the weight of vines, they used a short thicker stalk at the base of the taller ones and zip tied them together. They said that keeps the trellis from falling once your vines really get going. Just a tip.

Thank you so much - a million times thank you! I have sweet potato and even though it's not a climbing plant it's really dominating my garden and I know the rest of my plants will benefit from this! It's really taking over and I was panicking until I saw this! A million times thank you!

Hi. Today I made a trellis as I recalled your video. This is for my Japanese black pumpkin. My first time growing veg on an allotment gardening plot. I did it on a reverse v-shaped on both ends with a stick across, so started with strings down then i built across. Wish i could attach a photo of my trellis

I have a brick walls. I used those metal closed hooks. I drilled correct size holes and used correct plug and screwed the metal hooks. Rock solid and garden wire is really tight. A lot of drilling but it's rock solid too and easily holds a mature, heavy 16 feet wide Star Jasmine and other smaller climbers.
    Your idea is fantastic too.

Wendy Phan : Here is a cool idea for keeping bird bath water clean and clear !!!! GROW a philodendron next to your bird bath ; allow the philodendron to cascade into your bird bath !!!! The philodendron puts out roots that suck up all the nutrients in the bird bath water and keep the bird bath water clean and clear !!!! This also works great with fish tanks !!!! I hope I am explaining this clearly enough for everyone to follow and understand !!!!

Just one more, the pointy side should be up, to stop rain and moisture from getting into the pool, preventing or slowing down rotting, the other end goes in the ground, which easy to pre dig a,small diameter hole or path for it. Please keep making theses educational, inspiring vedios, I will be watching a learning, and making my garden look better on a budget.
