The newest video in my editor reacts to series. This week I'm watching and reacting to Game of Thrones for the first time.
Tyrion investigates a secret weapon that King Joffrey plans to use against Stannis. Meanwhile, as a token for saving his life, Jaqen H'ghar offers to kill three people that Arya chooses.
Nine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.
Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has a large ensemble cast and follows several story arcs throughout the course of the show. The first major arc concerns the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros through a web of political conflicts among the noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from whoever sits on it. The second focuses on the last descendant of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty, who has been exiled to Essos and is plotting to return and reclaim the throne. The third follows the Night's Watch, a military order defending the realm against threats from beyond Westeros' northern border.
Game of Thrones attracted a record viewership on HBO and has a broad, active, and international fan base. Critics have praised the series for its acting, complex characters, story, scope, and production values, although its frequent use of nudity and violence (including sexual violence) generated controversy. The final season received significant criticism for its reduced length and creative decisions, with many considering it a disappointing conclusion. The series received 59 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most by a drama series, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Its other awards and nominations include three Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation, a Peabody Award, and five nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama.

Love the cameo in this episode - the Pyromancer that Tyrion and Bronn aee talking to is played by Roy Dotrice! He was the voice actor for all of the game of thrones audiobooks until he sadly passed away a few years ago. I've fallen asleep listening to his voice so many times, he is sorely missed. A legend.

@@SilentBob731 Yup. His rendition of Maester Aemon's speeches in Feast were some truly powerful stuff, you could tell how his speculation on death and the afterlife were raw and present and really touched him. It moves me every time I hear it.
Simon Vance did an excellent job with Fire and Blood, and Harry Lloyd's reading of Dunk and Egg is outstanding, I wouldn't hate if winds was given to either one of them (I do work for audible myself and what I wouldn't GIVE for a shot at that gig - alas my portfolio is light and I wouldn't know the first thing about even auditioning for an author that big!)

The scene were Brienne and Catelyn exchange their vows is so good, and classic game of thrones. My interpretation of what Jorah said about allies is that if a Targaryen shows up with live dragons and wants to form an alliance, a lot of nobles will strongly consider it, as the alternative is getting cooked.

Fun fact: The Ghost of Harrenhal in this context means Arya. There are legends and stories about how Harrenhal is haunted so a lot of random or spooky events are just blamed on "the Ghost of Harrenhal", so in the book when Arya gives Jaqen H'ghar the first name and when the man mysteriously dies, everyone thinks it's the ghost, which prompts Arya to think to herself that really, since she caused the man's death, /she/ is the Ghost of Harrenhal

Dracarys is the "command" for the dragon to breathe fire. (I put command in quotes because, well, it's a dragon. If they don't want to do what you're telling them to do, they may choose to just ignore you, or eat you.)

Oh, I dunno. There were houses that fought for the Targaryens and only bent the knee when Robert won. The Tyrells, for instance. They were royalists in Robert's Rebellion. Margaery's father even beat Robert in a battle and laid siege to Storm's End. Then there's House Martell, the rulers of Dorne, because the Prince of Dorne's sister was married to Rhaegar. Plus there's House Hightower (they're not as prominent in the show, but you'll meet them if you move on to House of the Dragon after you're done with GOT), House Redwyne (the house Margaery's grandmother is from), and House Tarly, Sam's family's house. Oh, and House Mooton, which was mentioned in this episode, when Tywin was testing Arya, and Arya tried to claim she was a servant of House Mooton, but didn't remember their sigil which is a red salmon.

The death of Renly is so much more chilling in the book. I hated the way they had the shadow like the "Lost"monster. In the book, Renly is in full plate armor and Catelyn notices the shadow on the wall has the sword drawn, while his own is in its sheath. Then the shadow pieces him through the throat. Two of the Rainbow guard attack Brienne, while another one(Robar)ends up sacrificing himself after Catelyn tells him the truth that it was Stannis's shadow.
Stannis later talks about how he dreamed of Renly's death, as he was asleep when the shadow killed him. He remembered hearing Brienne scream and feels guilt and sadness for losing him, later feeling that he would go to the grave thinking of his last talk with Renly.
Loras fully believes that Brienne was the murderer and the majority of the Tyrell bannermen run off with Loras and the Tyrell's.
Wildfire is based on a real weapon called Greek Fire. Tyrion of the books actually gets a really good plan in place to handle it(having the catapult users practice, first with empty pots, then with pots full of paint, then full of lamp oil), ensuring there'll be no danger of dropping or breaking them and causing a blaze to spread.
    They wasted a perfectly good character: Dagmer, who is Theon's second in command here, is actually a father figure from his youth. Dagmer is named "the Cleftjaw"because his lips and teeth were sliced by an axe blow to the face he survived. Theon notes that Dagmer gave him more smiles than his father ever did when he shot a seagull on the wing, tied a knot on a ship correctly, etc;
Tywin and Arya's intereactions are a show only creation and one of the few show choices that I've fully supported.
Arya's first choice is not the Tickler, but Chyswyck, one of Gregor's men. She overhears him telling a story of how Gregor and his party gangraped a woman shortly after the Mountain was beaten by Loras Tyrell and laughing about it, so she chooses him as the first death. His death isn't as obvious(a fall off the walkway, not enough to seem like anything other than him being drunk).
Wisdom Hallyne(the Pyromancer leader)is played by Roy Dotrice, who narrated all the ASOIAF audiobooks.
The vaults for the wildfire are underground and exceptionally cold, as its said that even sunlight can make it catch fire. The Pyromancer's also discuss how Aerys the Mad King was a huge fan of their order(given his predilections)and how one of their order, Rossart, was a Hand of the King to him(one killed during the sack of Kings Landing).
It doesn't say it in the show, but "Dracarys"means "Dragonfire"in old Valyrian(as Dany wants a word that she probably won't say in normal conversation). The dragons names are Drogon(the black), Viserion(the cream and gold)and Rhaegal(the green).
Xaro of the books is very different. He's very rich, pale(the Qartheen are called the milk men by the Dothraki), has gems of all colors in his nose(making his nose look like a beak)and it's apparent that he's gay. He asks to marry Dany as she can have half his riches and he can ask one thing of her on their wedding, which she cannot refuse(and getting just one of her dragons would be enough).

    I really enjoy your reactions😎
"Dracarys" is a command it means "Dragonfire" in High Valyrian.
If you go back and watch The History and Lore Season 1 The Targaryren's are from Valyria they escaped the "The Doom" a cataclysmic event.
I want to think that Arya choose "The Tickler" because he was right there at Harrenhal , Joffrey was too far to test Jaqen h'ghar's offer to kill.
I don't care how many times I watch that brilliant dialogue between Lady Catelyn and Brianne, it hits the feels every time.
I really enjoy how you pick up on the dialogue, you might be going in the right direction with your insight on Stannis and Theon.
See you are one of the only reactors recently that made a comment about Arya probably wasn't paying attention fully when Maester Luwin was teaching the Stark children about the varies House Families, Sigils, and House words..
Yea The Warlocks are definitely weird and have strange customs/habits.
    Great job😎
No more or it will spoil just go back and watch the History and Lore video from Season1.
