  • How good is DJI Care Refresh V Coverdrone Insurance for Mini 2 and DJI FPV? I took out Coverdrone Insurance for my DJI Mini 2 and my DJI FPV. Here's what happened when I claimed for both drones at the same time!
Coverdrone is a company that provides insurance cover for your drone and associated peripherals. DJI Care Refresh is an insurance policy that can be taken out on a DJI drone within 48 hours of drone activation. Which of the 2 is best? I tried out Coverdrone Insurance to see!
    Merch now available streamlabs.com...
If you'd like to support me to get out and about more and visit more of Scotland with my DJI mini 2 drone, you could always stick some fuel in my tank using this link. And it is very much appreciated!

    Hi Robert,
Living in Crewe, where Coverdrone are based, I know one of the guys who works there and sent him the link to your video. He shared your video with his management team and the Coverdrone directors. Naturally, Coverdrone was very pleased with your video and I guess more importantly, your positive comments and experience. I have used and use Coverdrone to insure my Mini 2 and now my Mini 3 Pro. Thank God, I've not needed to put their services to the test!
    Happy flying my friend.

I'm still on the first year of DJI Care Refresh with my Mini 2. I wrecked it on Jan 2, and contacted them on line. I used the DJI Care Express option. They put a hold on my credit card for $250 and sent me out a new drone that I got on Thursday, Jan 5.
On Jan 3, I packaged up my damaged drone and took it to UPS where they printed a label for me and shipped it for free. DJI got my shipment and informed me they were lifting the CC hold by Jan 6th. Absolutely painless procedure and I am happy to be flying my drone again! It cost me $50 plus the initial price of the insurance, which was $39 or $49 dollars.

Thanks Robert. Only just spotted this on your channel despite being a long time subscriber - mainly because my one year DJI Care Refresh expires in a couple of weeks from when I bought my Mini 2 last year. There are other drone insurance companies out there, but Coverdrone is the name that always comes up regularly. Based on your experiences, I'll be taking out a policy in the next few days 👍😊

Care refresh for me. Crashed my drone, lodged a claim, packaged up to the local shop for UPS pick and within 48 hrs received a brand new drone. No waiting weeks and stressing about delays.

Aye, I've heard great reports about DJI Care refresh. And heard some not so good comments too. When I added up the cost of replacing my FPV with Care refresh, oit was VERY high. Coverdrone insurance was less than half the cost of Care Refresh.

It's nice to hear this. Like you I used care refresh for the first year but then switched to Cover Drone in the second year (mainly because I was away when DJI emailed and I missed the renewal window). Listening to your experiences gives me confidence that I will be dealt with fairly if (more likely when) I crash my Mini 2.
    Happy New Year btw.

Coverdrone also covers, with the usual 55 euro fee, the event of drone lost. With the care refresh and the option fly-away you can now replace the drone but with a 250€ fee on dji mini 3 pro. Care refresh wins on Coverdrone just for the speed.. If you dont need a new drone in 48h, Coverdrone is definitely better

it's a bit sad that the FPV fix turned out to be a DJI fault and replaced under warranty.
Had you sent this back to DJI, you would not have had to pay the "Admin" fee of £42 for a new drone as it's being replaced under warranty, they are effectively saying that the crash was not due to pilot error but a Drone fault? Therefore if this is the case, are cover drone charging Excess for crashes happening due to a warranty issue?

    • @WindsweptRobert
      @WindsweptRobert  Год назад +1

Coverdrone cancelled the claim as it was a warranty repair. The £42.50 covered the wee bit of work that Heliguy did on my behalf. Aye, I could have sent it to DJI myself, but it's only with hindsight that we see it was a warranty repair. At the time of my claim .I thought it was pilot error.

@@WindsweptRobert As far as I can understand if you activate the drone you have 48hrs to add Care Refresh for that drone but a Care Refresh code should be valid until you bind it to a drone, I just need to clarify that I am correct.

Hi Robert, I knew DJI’s Care Refresh has a 2 claim limit, I see my mistake with my question, I got the companies name wrong, sorry. I was asking about that insurance company “Cover Drone” but I got mixed up, nothing new there. So I meant to ask, do they ( COVER DRONE) have a limit on how many times a customer can claim? You gave them a good review, I hope they give you a good discount , do your subscribers get a discount when using them, someone mentioned sending them your video. After my care refresh finishes I will go to that company.👍

I receive no discount from Coverdrone insurance. I can offer no discount as I am not affiliated with them, I merely purchase my insurance from them and they have dealt with my 2 claims excellently.
They have not made me aware of any limit on the number of claims you can make with them :)

I accidentally backed my Air2 into a ravine last year and I put a claim in with Coverdrone. I had to send off the usual Operator and Flyer IDs and I also sent off the flight log and screen recording. Coverdrone were very professional and linked in with Heliguy to send me a replacement. I even "upgraded" my Air2 replacement with an Air2S. I just had to pay the excess of £50 plus another £113 for the upgrade. Both companies were excellent and the coverage from Coverdrone even includes third party cover which DJI refresh doesn't. The whole thing only took about 10 days.
