This past summer I borrowed a HD Dyna Super Glide for a month or two. Needed something for the highway while my Versys was in pieces. I hated everything about it, but it did fit my longer legs. A 700 lb machine for turning gas into noise without making too much power. 1550cc air cooled injected twin 6-speed. Gah. I may go looking at older Honda cruisers to see what they have.
There’s tons of bikes out there that work for taller riders but all might not be exactly what you want. Both Harley, Yamaha and Kawi have tons of bikes for taller riders. The Africa twin is great for taller riders. There’s ways to fix bikes that are smaller like seats and foot pegs. I have the 1100 and I’m 6’3. Fixed the comfort issue with different foot pegs and a seat. Yeah it’s not perfect for taller riders long distances but this isn’t really a bike that you want to ride super long distances anyways.
Hey CC, I loved the vid. I bought a 2023 500 Rebel SE ABS. I love it. I have put some highway miles on the seatm and I like it. I find it very comfortable. I guess it depends on ones ass. LOL. I put a Puig windscreen on and it does a great job of blocking the bugs and wind. I had to drill two small holes in the bottom of the screen so I could use zip ties to hold the bottom down. Im going to put hard bags on it after I get my tax return. Everyone should get a brake light flasher also.
I've seen you recently, I greet you from Toronto Canada, I really like Honda, this Rebel 500 is the one I want to buy, your videos teach everything about the Rebel step by step. Thank you.
I'm 6'1 maybe 6'2 and 215 lbs and rode my girlfriends Rebel 300 around a bit. Hurts my hips after longer distances because it's a cramped riding position. Around town it's ok, but the bike is too short for me. I have a Nighthawk 750 and a Goldwing GL1100 that sit a bit taller and are more comfortable for me to ride. I can flat foot my other bikes just fine. My girlfriend is 5'4 and she fits it just great and was able to hit 90 mph on the highway with her 300cc.
@@ed.t.hansen6499 you could get the engine guards and then mount highway pegs on them which would help on the highway and long cruising, but I don't see how you'd move the brake and shifter forward more.
I have a 2021 rebel 500. I'm 6'1 and I love my bike. Changed the seat first. Went to a mustang. Way better. Did some other mods but by far my favorite is the USB Charger made for rebel. Webike has them. On Long trips its nice to have my phone charging all the way.
Got mine about 2 months ago, im 6ft 176lbs. Some of my gripes with the bike after some longer rides: 1) The seat is hard after 1 hour, gonna replace it with the Mustang Tripper at some point. 2) My legs are at a weird angle that's not quite 90°, gonna try out the Red Dragon forward controls and see if that helps. 3) I'm pretty much convinced at this point that I'm going to get a bigger bike after 2-3 years (HD or Indian) because I feel like the 500 is not enough "bike" for someone my size. Also I prefer the sound of a V-Twin. Only reason I didn't directly start on a HD or Indian was because of the price for a bike I might drop on my first rides and I didn't like any of their A2 compatible models.
You addressed ergonomics, but I didn’t hear a thing about leg room. I think that’s where Honda blew it for a cruiser…it should have forward pegs but instead the ergonomics simulator I used shows a 76 degree knew angle for me at 6’1”. Not very good other than short rides.
I just bought my girlfriend a 2024 rebel 500. I’m 6’3” 240lbs and just rode it 50 miles back home on the interstate. I was kind of terrified because how easily that bike is blown around. My usual ride is a vtx 1800. But by the time I got home and got off the interstate it wasn’t bad at all.
I learnt to ride mainly on my wife's Rebel 500 and I'm 6'2", and it never felt uncomfortable, even though my friends said it looked small for me. Then I bought my own bike - a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 - and that felt way better. One day my wife and I went for a ride, and afterwards she asked me to ride her bike to get some petrol while she got ready for work!! Holy crap!! Stepping off my bike onto hers, it felt like the Rebel was one of those tiny clown bikes!! 🤣🤣🤣 It felt really uncomfortable. But I think my next bike will be the Rebel DCT 1100, maybe with forward foot rests??
The only dealer in my area who doesn't charge mark ups don't have any on the lot and they don't know when they will get more. Sadly, the rest of dealers who do have a few want like 25% above MSRP which I refuse to pay and be part of. I'll wait and see. Love the rebel and insurance is cheap compared to other bikes.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat, not going to support dealerships ripping customers off with those kind of dealership mark ups. As long as people keep paying stupid prices, the dealerships will keep on trying to charge the mark up.
6ft 0, 300lbs, 32inch inseam. Was thinking about either this or the Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 as my first bike. Both are great cruisers with the Rebel being cheaper, but the Vulcan is 650 cc and have the ergo fit system to adjust your reach. Though Rebel 500 seems to have a lot more aftermarket options. Both have 27 inch seat height, and I’m looking to upgrade to a 30-31 inch seat height. But have it found anything online except a custom upholstery shop.
I’m 6’2 dreamed of the rebel 500 as my first bike but had to get the cbr500r instead because I couldn’t get comfortable on the rebel my tailbone was always just pressed against the bar between the 2 seats but everything else about the bike was perfect hopefully the rebel 1100 has the extra inch of seat 😭
At last a good review of an underrated bike great fir all situation and abilities, two main addition the seat and a windshield, out in mine a Mustang and Puig touring
I'm 6'3".....the Rebel and the Scout are designed for short riders. If you're over 6', Don't waste your money buying these small bikes. .....I sat on the Rebel, & it was like I was in s squatting position, with feet underneath my butt. My Suzuki C-90, & Suzuki VL1500 are my size.
Hi I'm looking for a first bike, I'm 6'1" I just want something that can maybe do around 70 mph on occasion if I have to, but mostly just cruise around slow on back roads. I was thinking a versys 300 can you recommend a good one?
in the UK we ride 50cc mopeds in town not 500cc bikes, its gotta be highway compatable, Kawasaki are bringing out a 500cc twin in spring 2024 will probably wait and see what thats like.
the seat is horrible. got mine earlier this year and wanted to use it for longer rides - impossible. Bought some air-filled pad for ~100 bucks, hardly any difference. I even started driving with my padded bycicle underpants. I dont get it - I used to ride 300.000km on bycicle in the last 20 years - with some 24h tours - no pain in the a*s. Riding the rebel longer than 1h without painissues - allmost imposiible. I'm 1,89cm / 85kg. Greetings from Germany
Im 6'6 320 and I wanna get my motorcycle license but legally I wont be able to ride anything above 600ccs and 35 kW of power. Is there a good cruiser for me? That also doesnt break my bank
So disappointed .. I finally got a chance to sit on a Rebel 500 this weekend. Unfortunately, my legs are so long that even with forward controls reaching out past the radiator and towards the front wheel, it's still too cramped. Rebel 1100 was a better fit.
Hi Suzy, I'm looking to get a 500 as first time rider. Can I ask how tall you are please? Review looks good I'm 6.1 so based on this review I might be ok
Hi. How tall are you? I want to buy rebel 500 for my first motorcycle. I'm 5,1ft (180cm). The only way to check is to sit on it and find out, but i am pretty sure that it is a bit too small for me. I love the style and price of that bike
@@andrzejwas21 You would just have to try it. You might be fine on that bike, who knows. The sort of cruiser that fits me better is more like a HD Dyna with forward controls.
Definitely get the 500! The 300 is a little bit lighter but not much you’ll be wishing you got the 500. Definitely recommend a motorcycle training course.
can the pedals be moved out. I see the legs are bend at 90 deg; thats not a cruiser; or comfy. What can be added to stretch out. Perfect low rider; w/ dct if I had legs of a 5' person
The kaw vulcan S can move the pegs forward; as std. why not Rebel. The dct is super great for my city driving; Small Gas tank not good for touring. Plenty of space for a large tank; so why not use it ????
I bought a Honda Rebel 500 for my secretary in Thailand as she is only 5' and weighs 94 lbs as it is the only large motorbikes she can ride flat footed.
I like how he talks about it for a half fucking hour but never shows an image of him as a 6 ft person sitting on it from a side view. fucking genius
LOL
Absolutely bro. That's the one thing I was looking for in this video but then what do I know.
+1
A side view from a helmet camera lol
imagine if you just show us how a 6ft person fits in the bike.
It's a shame that us tall riders have so little choice. I'm 6.4" and almost all bikes I try are just too small for longer trips.
The shadow 1100 definitely has more space.

@@swampssa Ofcourse there are options, but most are too expensive or not my style at all. So realistically there will be very few options left.
I'm 6'3", you should look at the Indian Rogue.
Good review. I'm a tad under 6', but feel a little crunched in. Looking at installing 1" handlebar risers.

yes riding; legs, pegs are not a comfy ride for a cruiser. Need to move both pegs out forward 1' to stretch out. No one has kits ?

So you’d say for a 6’1” individual, it’s good for 15 minute rides? And relatively comfy?

Wow CC. I added a Coffman's exhaust but I left the DB killer installed, Sissy bar with the luggage carrier.

Of course I meant Knee angle.
You can always install forward pegs but yes it’s quite small.
Thanks for this, seriously considering it as a first bike but need to finish my M2 first. I'm 6'5 (195cm) but my inseam is pretty short at 32-33"

Maybe not perfect some slightly more forward foot controls or forwards would have been better at 6’2
Did it bother you that part of it sticks out on right side by your ankle? I sat on one and it seemed weird.

Aftermarket seats?!?!

yes on both but I've found the fuel mileage meter to run lower than it gets by several mpg
