With Chernabog, I'd assume the Heroes list in his Fate deck would contain characters from the other 'Fantasia ' segments (i.e. Sorcerer Mickey and Yensid, Bacchus, Hyacinth Hippo, etc.), since otherwise, it would just be random churchgoers. Oh, and a couple other Fate cards that could be used against him could include Church Bells and Dawn's First Light.
Yeah, but Cruella De Vil is the only one who has two allies and also had a vanquish action. Evil Queen & Ursula have 1 & 2 allies, respectively, but they are not using their allies to defeat heroes (poison & binding contracts). So in that sense she only has two allies.
Why Cruella De'Ville makes such a good villain is that she has NO redeemable qualities, her whole back story is that she is snooty and loves extravagant fur coats and...that's it (at least in the cartoon). She is designed purely to be awful. Even Scar, who is equally menacing in his own way, you can see where he is coming from in some way: Simba pushes him out of the line for the throne he so covets. Not to mention, he kills to rule a kingdom. Cruella wants to kill for a coat. Her reward is so much lower than other villains, but she still stoops to kidnapping, theft, and yes the worst crime, killing puppies. She is just about as literally as possible: the worst.
I think she's a fantastic villain because of this. She is so evil and cruel but the most frightening thing is this also makes her one of the most realistic villains.
We here in Europe enjoy and love your games too. But why are the games you guys design so hard to get in retail here. :( No good distributeurs for us to get your games from for our store. :( and so many of our costumers want them. And off course #teamyzma

You guys have done such a great job with this series. It's easily our most played game during board game nights, everyone ALWAYS wants to play it. I own all the expansions and have already pre-ordered the next one, please don't stop pumping these out, also 2-3 of these smaller expansions each year is a pretty great cadence that doesn't break the bank for most families. I just wish there were more ways to get this game into the spotlight. Maybe a Disney+ show where the celebrities play as their Villains? Similar to the Tabletop shows you see on Geek and Sundry with Wil Wheaton. YOu can have that idea for free ;)
I already pre-order this expansion. I have the original Villainous, Wicked to the Core, and Evil comes prepared (personal favorite because I love Scar). My question is are with all the villains in the Disney Canon are you scared you might run out, and do you think you do Chernbog from Fantasia?
Honestly, as long as they keep making expansions I'll keep buying them. They still have plenty off fun villains. Lady Tremaine, Frollo, Shan Yu, Gaston, Shere Khan, Gov. Radcliffe, McLeach etc. If they ever do decide to bring in Star Wars and Marvel, I hope they do it as a separate reskin like the Rising games did.
Although even if they do have a reskin, I'd like it to be compatible despite the alterations. Prince John accumulating taxes while Thanos collects the Infinity Stones on his left and the Grand Inquisitor searches for force-sensitives across the table would be hilarious.

We still need to get this, and all the expansions. The thing I love about this game is everyone has one or two or three favorite villains, and because of that everyone can pick who they want and play them and there won't be much arguing or anything. I know when we finally get it to the table what everyone will want to play.
I think the main reason they haven't done one yet is each expansion is also a standalone game. But I can see where your frustrations are at. I have all 3 soon to be 4 now so my shelf is getting pretty piled up XD
I've got the base game and the first two in the initial box, but it is a bit tight and obviously I can't use the nice inserts. I think I'll be able to fit this expansion too, if I change how I store the character decks.

Just waiting on Shere Khan, who would be interesting as he lacks minions, King Candy, who I'm guessing would be similar to Ratigan in that he'd transform, and Gaston... because I wanna flex while playing.
No love for Frollo or the guy from Atlantis? He's forgettable, but the mechanics of allies that flip sides, unrelated to the primary objective, seems like it'd be interesting.
Shere Khan would have Kaa as an ally, and just to make it even, King Louie as well, which is interesting, since he and Baloo are best friends in everything *but* the actual film. Also, I don’t consider Louie to be a villain in anyway, but again, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made him one for the game.
Yes please Ravenburger give us Gaston in the next expansion. He's my all time favorite villain and I want to be him in one game. I was so happy they added Ratigan despite his movie being not as popular as the others. This gives me hope other non popular disney villains might get a shot too.
I want to see them make Madame Mim and The Backson (Winnie the Pooh)... technically, in the end they realize the Backson was fake, but I still think it would be really fun to play and for them to create

Yeah, I feel like that’s something for when they’re completely done making them, and I don’t want that to happen anytime soon! I keep the black plastic holders in them to keep it nice, so I admit it is a bit much to carry all of them around when I take them to a friend’s!
Thanks for the review, Tom! I have Villainous with both previous expansions. The best part of the design of the expansion villains is how the mechanics and objectives are so attuned with the nature of the particular villain: Hades trying to push along his titans to Olympus, Scar positioning hyenas while luring the lions out of his deck, Yzma frantically searching for Kuzko with Kronk constantly changing sides. The og cast was pretty fun (particularly Prince John and Hook), but the 6 new guys really bring this aspect of the game home and I expect these three to bring similar variety and theming. I love the choices in this set! Cruella of course is the highlight villain, but her two companions really add their own flair. Pete in the game is a brilliant stroke no one was expecting; the black&white retro set is really striking and unique. It also adds the classic cast to the game! I even like the idea of four mini-objectives being kind of like short episodes as opposed to a movie. Mother Gothel has always been one of the most underrated villains imo, and the Rapunzel movement/trust mechanic looks very apropos. She's also the most recent villain in the collection thus far. My main concern is the addition of so many extra pieces for each of the villains, particularly Cruella and those dog tokens. Before this, only Ratigan had an extra piece, and it was just one large tile designed to be stationary on the board and stay out of the way. Gothel's doesn't look too bad, but Pete and Cruella's pieces look pretty different from the streamlined vision of the original game. I'll probably still get it, but storage (I like as few boxes as possible) is becoming an issue and lots of little pieces don't help. The only big one missing for me now is Gaston. Others I could see would be perhaps Frollo, Prince Hans or Shere Khan. Most other options people seem to mention like Chenabog, Madam Mim, Oogie Boogie, don't seem to have enough meat to them story-wise to really create a solid game around. So hopefully just one more set will do it...
I’d love to see the following Villains in the game: J. I love this game so much! I've played every villain at least 3 times. My favorites to play are Mother Gothel, Dr Facilier, Ratigan and Maleficent. I'm hoping they keep going and give us even more expansions. Top 6 Villains I want for the game: Lady Tremaine, Frollo, Gaston, Madam Mim, Horned King and Chernabog. There's a few others I'd love to see, but these are who I want the most.
I'd also like to see these villains - Gaston - Lady Tremaine - Shere Khan - Madame Medusa (The Rescuers) - Percival C. McLeach (The Rescuers: Down Under) - Edgar Balthazar (The Aristocats)
Just a heads-up, it appears that Target timed exclusivity has been replaced with a Target exclusive version. It comes with a Dalmatian print outer sleeve, and the Cruella piece is speckled (as opposed to plain). This of course leads me to believe that the review copy is the Target exclusive, and they just scrapped the outer sleeve. If the sleeve means the box is shrink wrapped, I may have to shop at Target...
I'm glad they stopped making villain who need one specific card in the deck to show up in order to win (Jafar, Ursula, and Hook were IMO the least fun to play, and they all came from the main game). While the villains which came from the expansions tend to have more fun goals to accomplish. Even villains which required a specific card (Ratigan or Facilier) has an easier time looking for it. Ursula also's got only two allies (the moray eels). And Evil Queen's only got the Hunter and he's completely useless!
I understand why the manufacturer is coming out with expansions (purely money). I do feel that we should have a deluxe box by now that contains all of the characters.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with including Pete, but I can think of, like, 10 villains from the DAC that I would’ve picked for that 3rd slot: Chernabog, Horned King (not because I’m biased), Gaston, Frollo, Hans, King Candy, Medusa, Shan Yu, Captain Gantu, and-for the wild card space-Mad Madam Mim. Needless to say, I will be very upset if at least one of these isn’t in the next expansion (unless they start adding Pixar stuff, because that’s going to force me to create a whole new wishlist).
They have done all my favorite villains for this game so I’m pretty happy.the last two expansions hit it out of the park Between mother gothel, Yzma, Scar, and Pete. I just can’t get enough of this game.
Hello! We came across a scuffle when playing Mother Gothel. Another player played the “mother knows best” card (which says Rapunzel doesn’t move at the end of the turn) when Rapunzel was already at Corona. And then he claims the way it’s worded on the card since he didn’t “try” to move her, he doesn’t lose a trust. Is this correct? Maybe I am just misinterpreting the rules or misunderstanding. But any insight or advice would be great. Thanks!
The reason that Cruella took so long was because they time expansions to build hype for marketing. Scar came out right before the Lion King remake, and the Cruella movie is due next year.
I like Pete but I wish he had more than just 5 objectives to be selected. Considering you use 4 when you play after 2 or 3 games you've almost definitely gone through all of his tokens at least once and it cuts down on his replayability a bit plus I'd just love to have more objectives and see what the team could've come up with
So.....this game is one of if not my favorite single-session tabletop game, and a huge reason why is the aesthetics...which is why I am sorely disappointed that the Cruella mover is not color-matched to the Cruella board and cards like literally every other character in the game (and I thought Gothel was the same way in the promo pics but seeing this vid they do still kinda match so I'm calmer there)
This may be the most exciting expansion. While it doesn't contain my favorite (Scar) it really opens some doors with Gothel (3D animation) and Pete (b&w, more obscure). I was over the moon when I saw the choices this time.
Bane Kerr I wouldn’t call Pete obscure; he’s Disney’s oldest character, predating Mickey by three years, and in additional to the classic theatrical shorts where he antagonized Alice, Oswald, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Goofy, he was also in featurettes like Mickey’s Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper, and Runaway Brain (as Julius). In addition, he was in the series Goof Troop and Mickey’s House of Mouse, was toned down for preschoolers for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and in the direct-to-video The Three Musketeers.
Love the components and the theming, but I've always felt like Pete from Steamboat Willie is not the villain; Mickey is. Pete is sailing with his boat and his crewman (Mickey) is just slacking off and causing mischief. That said, looking forward to trying this one out!
Bit like Tom and Jerry really. Jerry is a vermin who is spreading diseases and shit all over the house and stealing their food. And Tom is the guard telling him to feck off back to the moors. :(
I'd love to see Frollo in this game, but his goals would probably be too dark for the game. Either defeat Esmarelda and have her as an ally (like Yzma/ Kronk in the last expansion), or commit genocide = defeat every gypsy in the fate deck.

That item goal is a little trickier than it seems, Pete only has 4 items, and they can each only be played to specific locations, so you have to move them to the goal location, which can take a few turns. In that time, it can become obvious what you are doing to your opponents, who can fate you and switch your items and goals around. A big part of playing Pete is subterfuge.

Eh, Chernabog could start each turn with assorted ghosts and spirits at four locations: Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Pastoral Symphony, Dance of the Hours, and Bald Mountain. Foes include Mickey Mouse, Yen Sid, Hop Low, Hyacinth Hippo, Ben Ali Gator, Bacchus & Jacchus... allies could be Zeus, the broomsticks, the T-Rex, assorted ghosts.
@@docterfantazmo Cruella was and they just toned it down. Frollo would just need to find Esmeralda and then move her to the Palace of Justice then VANQUISH her. He'd pretty much be a reskin of Captain Hook. As for Chernabog, I'm thinking more a reskin of Maleficent, but with a twist. Each realm has a note token and Chernabog needs to remove them before placing his ghosts and spirits. It's like Chernabog is trying to destroy the world of Fantasia itself. Allies would then help either recovering the notes which in turn would HALT his victory like Hades when his Titans get trapped at Mt. Olympus or help move the spirits back towards Bald Mountain where Heroes played there have no reason to kinda like the Secret Lair and Jail spaces from Ratigan and Prince John.
I like that Pete’s in the game, but I would have made his board in color like the others, and I would have made his allies all of his alter-egos: Steamboat Pete, Peg-Leg Pete, Ghost of Christmas Future, Captain of the Guard, Julius, etc
Just ordered this expansion, I'm loving the game so, so much. I don't get how some people in the comments find it unbalanced and boring. We usually end up playing the last 20-30 minutes on the edge of our seats so freaking close to winning but countering everyone all the time.
Thank goodness that Cruella is only "capturing" puppies. Meanwhile Scar, Evil Queen, Yzma, and Captain Hook are trying to straight up kill, er "defeat" Mufasa, Snow White, Kuzco and Peter Pan. 🤔
I can understand Frollo and Oogie Boogie, but Darth Vader would be really hard to work with. Cause he's really not the villain in the movie. Yes he's an antagonist, but the true villain is Palpatine. We also need Gaston and if I were to see a Live Action villain I would rather have the MCP from Tron. Lets get very underrated here with a disney title XD
Lilo and Stitch may be the only movie that i would prefer them to acknowledge the extra material. I think that Hamsterville or Leroy would work better than Gantu. Also a Good space character can be John Silver.
The biggest drawback of the Disney Villainous games is that it doesn't feel competitive. It has the Fate mechanic, but I don't think that's enough to make it seem more like a glorified solitaire game. I'd love for them to introduce mechanics similar to deckbuilding games, like attacking and defending.
When you are Hades and you get all your titans on to Mt. Olympus just for someone to fate you with a thunderbolt before it gets back to your turn. YEAH that hurts. I can see where you are coming from though. It's not so much competitive it's more like stalling their victory.
I gotta be honest here: I feel like Pete is the most blatant set filler. I really think they could’ve easily swapped him out for Medusa (Rescuers), Frollo (Hunchback of Notre Dame), or even throw a real curveball like Hans (Frozen) and miss nothing of substance; not someone like Gaston, since he’s *clearly* a headliner.
This Expansion would likely be banned from stores if Cruella's Main Goal said "Kill Puppies and skin them into a Fur Coat" Thank goodness Cruella just captures them and they never mention killing them.

Most other options people seem to mention like Chenabog, Madam Mim, Oogie Boogie, don't seem to have enough meat to them story-wise to really create a solid game around. So hopefully just one more set will do it...
I’d love to see the following Villains in the game: J. Worthington Foulfellow, Lady Tremaine, Shere Khan, Madam Mim, Madame Medusa, Horned King, Gaston, Governor Ratcliffe, Judge Claude Frollo, Clayton, Commander Lyle T. Rourke, Captain Gantu, and King Candy. Chernabog is a maybe... ditto for either Te Ka or Tamatoa.
We finally have Cruella de Vil. Now all I need is Gaston and Claude Frollo.
Looking forward to this one. Need to play this game (in total) more often as it's fun and easy to teach.
I like how they made mother gothel the flower shes obsessed with but also I'm so used to her being purple. So its confusing she isn't.
I'm so excited for this!! I've still yet to play this game, but all 3 of these look just as fun as every other villain!!

I love this game so much! I've played every villain at least 3 times. My favorites to play are Mother Gothel, Dr Facilier, Ratigan and Maleficent. I'm hoping they keep going and give us even more expansions. Top 6 Villains I want for the game: Lady Tremaine, Frollo, Gaston, Madam Mim, Horned King and Chernabog. There's a few others I'd love to see, but these are who I want the most.

Just a heads-up, it appears that Target timed exclusivity has been replaced with a Target exclusive version. It comes with a Dalmatian print outer sleeve, and the Cruella piece is speckled (as opposed to plain). This of course leads me to believe that the review copy is the Target exclusive, and they just scrapped the outer sleeve.
If the sleeve means the box is shrink wrapped, I may have to shop at Target...

What about Madame Medusa from the Rescuers? I think she would be a fun villain to play as!

I'm glad they stopped making villain who need one specific card in the deck to show up in order to win (Jafar, Ursula, and Hook were IMO the least fun to play, and they all came from the main game). While the villains which came from the expansions tend to have more fun goals to accomplish. Even villains which required a specific card (Ratigan or Facilier) has an easier time looking for it.
Ursula also's got only two allies (the moray eels). And Evil Queen's only got the Hunter and he's completely useless!
I understand why the manufacturer is coming out with expansions (purely money). I do feel that we should have a deluxe box by now that contains all of the characters.
That's exactly what we need. Put a Chernabog in there as incentive.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with including Pete, but I can think of, like, 10 villains from the DAC that I would’ve picked for that 3rd slot:
Chernabog, Horned King (not because I’m biased), Gaston, Frollo, Hans, King Candy, Medusa, Shan Yu, Captain Gantu, and-for the wild card space-Mad Madam Mim. Needless to say, I will be very upset if at least one of these isn’t in the next expansion (unless they start adding Pixar stuff, because that’s going to force me to create a whole new wishlist).
They have done all my favorite villains for this game so I’m pretty happy.the last two expansions hit it out of the park Between mother gothel, Yzma, Scar, and Pete. I just can’t get enough of this game.
Hello! We came across a scuffle when playing Mother Gothel. Another player played the “mother knows best” card (which says Rapunzel doesn’t move at the end of the turn) when Rapunzel was already at Corona. And then he claims the way it’s worded on the card since he didn’t “try” to move her, he doesn’t lose a trust. Is this correct? Maybe I am just misinterpreting the rules or misunderstanding. But any insight or advice would be great. Thanks!

The reason that Cruella took so long was because they time expansions to build hype for marketing. Scar came out right before the Lion King remake, and the Cruella movie is due next year.
So don't be surprised in Shan Yu is in this years second expansion after the release of Mulan.

I like Pete but I wish he had more than just 5 objectives to be selected. Considering you use 4 when you play after 2 or 3 games you've almost definitely gone through all of his tokens at least once and it cuts down on his replayability a bit plus I'd just love to have more objectives and see what the team could've come up with

So.....this game is one of if not my favorite single-session tabletop game, and a huge reason why is the aesthetics...which is why I am sorely disappointed that the Cruella mover is not color-matched to the Cruella board and cards like literally every other character in the game (and I thought Gothel was the same way in the promo pics but seeing this vid they do still kinda match so I'm calmer there)
This may be the most exciting expansion. While it doesn't contain my favorite (Scar) it really opens some doors with Gothel (3D animation) and Pete (b&w, more obscure). I was over the moon when I saw the choices this time.
Bane Kerr I wouldn’t call Pete obscure; he’s Disney’s oldest character, predating Mickey by three years, and in additional to the classic theatrical shorts where he antagonized Alice, Oswald, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Goofy, he was also in featurettes like Mickey’s Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper, and Runaway Brain (as Julius).
In addition, he was in the series Goof Troop and Mickey’s House of Mouse, was toned down for preschoolers for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and in the direct-to-video The Three Musketeers.

Love the components and the theming, but I've always felt like Pete from Steamboat Willie is not the villain; Mickey is. Pete is sailing with his boat and his crewman (Mickey) is just slacking off and causing mischief.
That said, looking forward to trying this one out!

I'd love to see Frollo in this game, but his goals would probably be too dark for the game. Either defeat Esmarelda and have her as an ally (like Yzma/ Kronk in the last expansion), or commit genocide = defeat every gypsy in the fate deck.

That item goal is a little trickier than it seems, Pete only has 4 items, and they can each only be played to specific locations, so you have to move them to the goal location, which can take a few turns. In that time, it can become obvious what you are doing to your opponents, who can fate you and switch your items and goals around. A big part of playing Pete is subterfuge.
Waiting for Judge Claude Frolo and Chernabog, then I'll be very happy.
Those would be VERY dark, Frollo's thristy Hitler and Chernabog... what would he even do, raise the dead?

Eh, Chernabog could start each turn with assorted ghosts and spirits at four locations: Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Pastoral Symphony, Dance of the Hours, and Bald Mountain. Foes include Mickey Mouse, Yen Sid, Hop Low, Hyacinth Hippo, Ben Ali Gator, Bacchus & Jacchus... allies could be Zeus, the broomsticks, the T-Rex, assorted ghosts.
@@docterfantazmo Cruella was and they just toned it down. Frollo would just need to find Esmeralda and then move her to the Palace of Justice then VANQUISH her. He'd pretty much be a reskin of Captain Hook.
As for Chernabog, I'm thinking more a reskin of Maleficent, but with a twist. Each realm has a note token and Chernabog needs to remove them before placing his ghosts and spirits. It's like Chernabog is trying to destroy the world of Fantasia itself. Allies would then help either recovering the notes which in turn would HALT his victory like Hades when his Titans get trapped at Mt. Olympus or help move the spirits back towards Bald Mountain where Heroes played there have no reason to kinda like the Secret Lair and Jail spaces from Ratigan and Prince John.
I like that Pete’s in the game, but I would have made his board in color like the others, and I would have made his allies all of his alter-egos: Steamboat Pete, Peg-Leg Pete, Ghost of Christmas Future, Captain of the Guard, Julius, etc
You should do a review of Despicable Plots, a new expansion of Disney Villainous, that just came out not too long ago.
Just ordered this expansion, I'm loving the game so, so much. I don't get how some people in the comments find it unbalanced and boring. We usually end up playing the last 20-30 minutes on the edge of our seats so freaking close to winning but countering everyone all the time.
I'm still waiting on Gaston and Judge Claude Frollo.

I can understand Frollo and Oogie Boogie, but Darth Vader would be really hard to work with. Cause he's really not the villain in the movie. Yes he's an antagonist, but the true villain is Palpatine.
We also need Gaston and if I were to see a Live Action villain I would rather have the MCP from Tron. Lets get very underrated here with a disney title XD

Lilo and Stitch may be the only movie that i would prefer them to acknowledge the extra material. I think that Hamsterville or Leroy would work better than Gantu. Also a Good space character can be John Silver.

The biggest drawback of the Disney Villainous games is that it doesn't feel competitive. It has the Fate mechanic, but I don't think that's enough to make it seem more like a glorified solitaire game. I'd love for them to introduce mechanics similar to deckbuilding games, like attacking and defending.
When you are Hades and you get all your titans on to Mt. Olympus just for someone to fate you with a thunderbolt before it gets back to your turn. YEAH that hurts.
I can see where you are coming from though. It's not so much competitive it's more like stalling their victory.
I gotta be honest here: I feel like Pete is the most blatant set filler. I really think they could’ve easily swapped him out for Medusa (Rescuers), Frollo (Hunchback of Notre Dame), or even throw a real curveball like Hans (Frozen) and miss nothing of substance; not someone like Gaston, since he’s *clearly* a headliner.
I don’t think anyone would want Rapunzel to get CORONA! I think Gothel is saving Rapunzel keeping her safe from that deadly virus :( :p

This Expansion would likely be banned from stores if Cruella's Main Goal said "Kill Puppies and skin them into a Fur Coat" Thank goodness Cruella just captures them and they never mention killing them.
This set is amazing, but definitely would not recommend to beginners, it can be a bit complex if you aren't already familiar with the game
