To be honest, I never knew ppl who don’t know how to swim should not go to the beach. Don’t go in deep water, yes. But who has never sit, put they feet in water though they can’t swim. That logic that some of these insensitive ppl under this comment section is spewing is appalling. Of course, you can still go to the beach if you don’t know how to swim. You just have to be careful when it comes to going in the water.
NO! if you can't swim you don't need to be in the water at the beach AT ALL! it only takes 6 inches of water to knock you off your feet and 12 inches of rushing water to drag ANYONE out to sea. Water is nature's most powerful weapon. if you can't swim, go to the river, creek, lake, or POOL! I use to be a lifeguard and the number of teens that I had to drag out of the water was insane! and most of the time they thought they could swim. We has to start making kids do swim test before they were allowed into deeper waters. So those people saying don't go into the ocean if you can't swim are 100000000% correct! moving water is dangerous when you can't swim. Think about this 12 inches of water can move a car and 2 feet of water can move a bus. this is stuff that people need to understand before going to the beach.

Omg this woman needs help to be placed in housing and the mayor too busy helping migrants get help for their housing not even citizens. If she was placed in housing her son would be alive. I'd like to say to my sister first and foremost. Who's going through a tremendous bad loss of a family member? In the cares of her own child, I do feel bad for you. And it was a very bad tragic ending to a young black boy in America. But I want you to understand somethen known for fact in a vulnerable situation and your children are in a vulnerable situation because they do not know how to swim other People from the public while warning them what they were doing in the water would cause them their life. My thing is follow the beach. Rules and regulations in terms of swimmand when it comes to not seen lifeguards. That's a warning sign that none of your children or anybody should be in the waters because of safety reason. This is a life lesson. I'm sure you're never gonna forget this. I'm sure this will never ever happen again.

But both of these boys knew how to swim in hough. Many people that know how to swim are swept away in rip currents.
@@rebeccasantos1161 Even if they were the best at swimming or not at swimming. The rip tides were something that they couldn't fight against on time. Plus what causes most of this is fear Panicking in the choppy Waters of high tides. But never the less they should have never been in the waters waste deep or Neck deep in the waters after the Lifeguards retire for the night closer.

This is the 2nd story i see on people drowning. The other one was of the two muslim sisters. I notice in both stories they said that all victims were "standing" in shallow water when the water took them. 😮😮😮 I never knew that could happen. I always thought that this only happens in deep water. Very scary to think that you can be close to shore and still lose a life.

theres no lifeguards in bay area either. we all know of the ripcurrents and many have drowned. i just thank god as a kid i never have had major sweep aways. however there is often an incident . they added just a lifesaver on the rail in pacifica. thats all! RIP and i hope you and son can recover and get housing.
How can you not know how to swim? Just swim underwater past the waves, and flip on your back with your face up.

this is why we have swim tests. unless you can do can swim 50 yards and show me 2 different strokes, you will not be allowed in water above your waist. There is a difference between being able to swim in a pool and swim in moving water. my guess is that the child couldn't really swim and mom didn't actually know because she can't swim. prayers for the family.

Im over 60 I cannot forget that when I was 10 the wave flip me upside down I couldn't see cause the sea water is dark.i did not know wether I was up or down I was confuse which way to see the outside I touch the bottom where I touched sand and is when I push self up I started see light from.the sky I was gasping for air. Never again I went all the way out .
Bad parenting resulted with this.
