“Getting all these ANTAGONISMS out at the very START can be very healthy” Waiting on the physical relationship could be seen as a barrier to a healthy relationship. Getting the physical part over, then work on the rest. The question she’s asking. Are we physically compatible?
Dear Oldfilmscreen, I love the sweet love story juxtaposed with the quirky characters and humor. I remember Sandy Baron from the 60's from the tv show, "Hey Landlord." I think Anthony Newley is funny when he says , "I have no more huff."
As a once lover of Newley, it is a charming reminder of his complex & mercurial nature.I also love to watch him as the artful dodger.his 1st film,as a youngster...
AN's first feature film was Vise Versa, a great British comedy directed by Peter Ustinov and, thankfully, available on YT for us to enjoy. Oliver Twist came later. An actress in VV recommended young Newley to David Lean, the director of Oliver.
The only thing that stands out more than the movie itself is definitely Anthony Newley's eyelashes, oh my god. He had absolutely NO BUSINESS having such luxurious eyelashes lmao
Sandy was far more believable than Charlize Theron in the glossy remake!!! As a matter of fact, the whole story was far more credible in 1968 than in 2001!!!
Remakes in general are both a disappointment and a mistake; if you can't improve on the original, why bother trying? Leave the classics alone and pristine.
The only thing I always hated and never understood is why they slept together on night 1. It really throws off the movie. Better if you just ignore it.
Well, didn't she do the same with all the others in her files? This whole idea is rather off the mark. But the rest of the film - the actors, the sets are brilliant so I think this is what saves it.
In his case she knew he was into "hurry hurry ding ding". She had to cause him to be stuck from the start, his attention span and what seemed was as a conquest as motive she saw through. Idk the story with her others, they weren't rushed types and she may have waited.
I like it when she says it is the first of November. I am watching this on November 1, 2021. :)
This is his best performance in a movie as an adult. Thank you Oldfilmscreen for giving so many of us who love this man, the chance to enjoy this.
If Sandy were to ask me "Would you like to be my November?" I would be the happiest man in the cosmos. Love you dear sweetheart Sandra Dale.

She was intoxicating. Can't imagine any other version than this one.
@@cynthialyman2636 You're perfectly right. Remakes are invariably worse than the respective originals.
I'm happy to announce my HUFF IS OVER! Best line.
"Main Floor by Bloomingdale's" 😂
