I think you made such a valid point that when we declutter we can feel we've wasted money on clothes and can feel guilty about buying more but adding even a few new items that make us feel better can give us such a boost, we're worth it! I'm 57 so now coping with a menopause body and just finding replacement clothes in the shops is hard.

I remember after having my child I really appreciated how clever my body was. I felt the most feminine I ever felt. I embraced it flabby bits and all its imperfections. We have a habit of finding fault with our physical selves, but we should appreciate our health and what we are able to do. Not everyone has that. You have spurred me on to sort out my own closets now. Great video.

I told myself that aswell, at one point I had so many sizes of clothes, my weight fluctuates a lot. Size 6,8,10,12,14. Right now I fluctuate btwn a 12 and 14! So all those clothes had to go!

For the jumpers and dresses with narrow straps, take them to a seamstress and they can get creative adding trim or lace to make them wide enough to cover the bra strap. And the dress with the puffy shoulders, take that to a seamstress too and they can remove the poufy bit to create a traditional sleeve! Anything you love a lot except for 1 small aspect, see if it can't be modified before you part with it. A good seamstress can work miracles, even making small garments larger by creating side panels in matching solid colors. You will know they have been altered, but the rest of the world will think you bought it that way!

I'm in the middle of doing this just now. I'm 5 months pregnant and getting rid of things I don't wear (Vinted is the best!) and packing away things I won't wear until next year at least. I want the house to be a clutter free for the baby arriving so first stop is to clean out all my old clothes.

Saw a post earlier on menopause and thought I would elaborate on it….There is peri-menopause, menopause and then post -menopause. Period with peri-menopause, then no period for 12 consecutive months, then after no period for 12 months, so the 13th month, it’s called post-menopause. Piece of advice when the time comes , communicate with a GYN doctor about HRT or other ways to help. It was a huge game changer for me. The flashes pretty much gone, mood swings lessened, night sweats, anxiety lessened, heart palpitations, achy joints are gone, etc. The benefits are really important because without estrogen, inflammation throughout the body increase dramatically, can delay changes in skin, it slows the ageing process as well. My advice, when you turn 40… watch your weight because the weight gain is quick once the estrogen/ progesterone decline. Try to lose 1 stone once you start a few symptoms like night sweats. Weight gain is inevitable with most women. Love your vlog ! You are so clever ❤

    • @ronnie-lynn
      @ronnie-lynn Месяц назад

What about if you take a progesterone tablet? I’m 38 based off my mother’s experience with menopause I’m terrified. I take the mini pill because it reduces my hormonal migraines. I suffer from a TBI so any reduction in migraine is a win. I wonder if it will help entering into peri-menopause. I suppose that would be a good question for my doctor lol 😂

It was still interesting to see your decluttering, however, just my personal preference for clothing decluttering videos, I enjoy hearing more of the decision making process. It would have been nice to hear more of you verbalizing your decision making process over your items. Why are you keeping the ones you’re keeping? What have you noticed about what you currently like. Why are you getting rid of the ones you are, why don’t you they work anymore? Etc. etc. I know many RUclipsrs will say they don’t want the video to get too long.. I enjoy the longer ones with the ‘talking’/ explanations rather than just music with fast forwarded footage. If others don’t , they can always fast forward the videos. I find the explanations so much more helpful and motivating.

It's great you decluttered Kay! Makes such a difference cleaning a closet as it seems to declutter the mind too! I am British living in the US and noticed when i moved here over 20 years ago. how large closets were, and people had so many clothes, i could not believe it! Almost lik the size of diner food plates!! Clothes were so cheap and abundantly available! I never really found a style for myself since i got into the trap of buying cheap clothes all the time for myself and my kids! I felt shopping was quite an American pastime! Finally seriously began to declutter all the clothes and found my style. Simple, floral dresses, sweaters, cardigans, t-shirts and skirts. A few pairs of shoes. I do not have typical summer/winter wardrobe, i just layer nice cardigans/sweaters over dresses/skirts. I remind myself, growing up in the UK we had small wardrobes, very little clothes and ate simply so i try to emulate that now. Thank you and God bless

I've discovered that if I love a colour but it doesn't feel right on me then to wear it as skirt/trouser/dungaree/pinafore. So I find that i like white fabric on my top half and around my face so I experiment with colors elsewhere instead. ❤

Looks like the colours you like belong the colour analysis summer category which might make sense with your complexion in my amateur opinion. Have you ever had a colour analysis?
If you really are a summer then that yellow dress might not be the best colour for you and could explain why it's not you're favorite. Generally speaking colours that are cool and muted work great on summers. Loved your declutter, great job!

I'm loving your music choices lately!
Me and clothes, oh what a battle! Because of the whole mother passing down insecurities thing, I'm unable to go clothes shopping without hearing her voice in my head whenever I try the clothes on, pointing out every flaw. We've talked about it and she's apologised, but I often need to firmly remind her that her feedback isn't helpful, when she thinks she's saving me from embarrassment. And then there's the clothes you keep from sentimental value, the clothes you keep hoping to fit one day...the clothes you throw out as you've lost weight and you don't want to go back but then you gain again and wish you hadn't...
My resolution for the year is to learn how to sew. It'll happen...I have a sewing machine and a dress maker has said she'll teach me...I just have to start. I want to sew retro 50s A-line dresses as that's the style I enjoy and then I'll know that they will fit my very pear-shaped body.

💗❤️ I’ve followed you since your New Zealand days! I have always felt so in sync with you. I was living in Vietnam and was doing vegan keto at the same time as you (how I discovered you I believe) and then I also went “no longer vegan” at the same time as you and it felt like happenstance. Then I slowly started gaining weight till one day it hit me and I realized I was no longer the size I used to be and I felt very down about it. I was like this for a few years till this new year and decided I need professional help to deal with it bc losing the weight on my own seemed impossible. (I did manage to lose the first 10 lbs on my own but the last 10 seemed impossible). So I hired a health coach and did a strict diet plan and it actually worked! I feels so much more like myself again back in the body that truly feels like me. If I can do, I believe anyone can! ❤

Hello, I need to do a wardrobe de clutter too. When I got married I was a size 14 and now 13 years ago I’m a size 14. We don’t have children and I have difficulty doing some exercise or standing for too long as I have mild scoliosis. I’m in a phase of wearing dresses but coz of my big bust some of them make me look too big unless I wear a belt. But I’m planning a weight loss journey mainly because I’m hoping it will help my lower back pain plus I’d love to buy bras from a normal shop than spend £40 on a decent comfy bra. Hopefully by this time next year I will be a little slimmer and healthier xx

Sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do.... even despite the heat! It was 99 degrees here in sunny California and I had a project that was long over due and had not been done; I recently redecorated my bedroom and put up a wall of brick-look self stick vinyl wallpaper. The edges were not sticking and were coming apart at the seams. It looked horrible. So today in the heat I tackled fixing the edges down with silicone caulking. It was a HOT, MESSY, SWEATY job, but I got it done and my room looks amazing again!

Hello, I'm 5 minutes in so far... I became a first time mum last June and have since been on the journey of not knowing what to wear. The other day I decluttered my wardrobe finally as I like to be minimal too but since becoming a mum, I have not felt inspired by my clothes so much until my boy was about 9 months I think. It's been good to declutter, let go and accept I'm not going to wear short short skirts any more or boyish looking clothes as I want to look like a nice lady haha, I want clothes to compliment me. Another thing my partner & I did and have done generally with the materials in our house is... get rid of any material that isn't natural! That made deciding on clothes that bit easier. I do have a small pile of seasonal clothes in a basket tucked away (in sight) along with some pre-breastfeeding dresses that I once enjoyed - to decide on at a later date. Shall carry on watching now :)

I love a good old decluttering video, so satisfying to watch! In terms of personal style, I was so frustrated through the years with my clothes, but recently I've discovered the system of "Style Roots" created by Ellie-Jean Royden | Body and Style, on RUclips, and it is LIFE CHANGING! I highly recommend you go check out her channel. She also has created another system called the body matrix, on how to find your best lines, that feels so much personalized than the "pear shape" and all that stuff. So style roots + body matrix + color seasons (explained by Ellie-Jean) is completely revolutionary for me, I don't shop the same way, and now everything I do buy, I love so much and feel like it's just perfect for me.

It’s quite challenging, im back to my pre pregnancy weight and a size 8 but don’t feel body confident as my legs and bottom are untoned and I had 3 big babies and Diastasis recti with each, so my tummy isn’t looking it’s best 🙈 So trying to declutter, keep bf friendly clothes, whilst still trying to feel cute in mum uniform. I wish someone could just do it for me… decision fatigue is crazy😢

😊 well done - doesn't make you feel great when you declutter. The downside is knowing that most likely in a few years you have to do it again😮

You really I'd declutter! We all need to. I have been doing it slowly. I have a reusable bag, and when it's full, it goes to Goodwill. It is smart to stick to what you like. Fashion trends are fickled and are meant to make you want to buy more. I try to stick to basic and classic clothes. And of course, ones I love. And you inspired me to go back to the color palette that I like. Great video! ❤
