    Really great video. To the point without any fluffing about technical specs. Just real world benefits of using one over the other.

    Great review, practical, from someone who actually goes out there and shoots, and knows what is important!! However, I have to throw my 2 cents in about the mount debate. I am on the other side of fence. The screw down mount IMO is far better. Godox changed to the latch, cause a whole heap of Canon shooters complained cause it wasn't like their old canon flashes. However, with the Canon design, there is no way to tighten the connection if it becomes loose over time with use. Sure the screw down takes an extra second to unscrew to take off... but I would much rather a firm connection, to prevent any miss fire with loose connection, over a latch system to aid speed of latching.

    I know this is an old video, but I still found it helpful. With the V860III (MK3) out now using the same commander mode, same battery, etc. Do you still prefer the V1? Because that is where I am at now making my first purchase. I found a couple of neat hexapop soft boxes that the AD200 or V860 just plug right into, but wont fit the V1.
    I see myself always bouncing flash where they should work nearly as well, but in that rare situation where I want to use a V1 by itself and some of those magnetic accessories for a backlight or similar. That is where I am still a bit torn making the decision.

      I have not compared. We transitioned from weddings to making RUclips videos and really don’t use flash much at all.

    Hey :-) First one to like and comment. I use 2 of the V860ii Love the product, simple to use off camera. I have just had to replace one due to the bulb not firing, everything else worked except the light. No one could give me an explanation why, the speedlite was only 7 months old. I looked at the V1 but I ended up buying the same again and I think they are brill. BTW I like your style, keep vlogging.

    My experience using these flashes on-camera (Canon 90D), the V1 lost communication with the camera. A few times I had to turn it off then turn it back on. I never had that problem with V860ii.
    By the way, I do event photography (small events, about 50 people) so I the course of two hours, I’m popping that flash a few hundred times.

    Have you had any issues with it overheating? I’ve heard a few people mention that after a certain number of shots it stops in fear of overheating. Was trying to decide between another V860II or a V1.

    • @Brianized
      @Brianized  4 года назад +1

      The V1 has overheating protection and the first verdion firmware would shut it off quickly. Updated firmware has worked flawlessly though.

    Great video! I am curious if know what the difference between the Godox V1 round head flash for canon and the Godox V1-C 2.4G TTL HSS Round Head Li-ion Camera Flash Speedlite Fr Canon EOS.

      I believe they are the same thing other than the round head but I would need to verify that.

  • @aozhou4535

    Just got a V1, the wheel button IS cheaply made, and it is misaligned exactly as yours. Seems their quality is pretty stable in terms of that. But I do like the round head and improved menus.

    That Godox bounce card is horrible. It gets knocked off too easily especially if you’re a dual camera carry person for events/weddings. I use the dome a lot more. I’ve been using 2 V1’s now for about 4-5 months and the dial is easy to bump too and I find it set to a different mode when I bring it up to shoot. I’ll either have to lock the buttons or turn it off and on. The V860’s didn’t have that issue as far as I can recall.

    • @Brianized
      @Brianized  2 года назад +1

      I don't use the card much tbh, but I haven't noticed changing the mode at all.

      Yes. They are different beasts. Ad200 is about 3x as powerful.

    Re: the battery, the battery on the V1 has a decent bit more power (2600mAh vs 2000mAh). Worth a whole new battery with a form factor that isn't backwards compatible? Maaaaybe? But I'm with you on the new pass-through battery, that seems too easy to bump loose.
    But, all things considered, these still look fantastic.

    Something you may be able to help and answer for me if possible. Will a Godox trigger (X pro s) mounted on a Sony camera (in this case A99II) with the Sony HLV-60 speed lite plugged into a Godox wireless receiver (X2Ts), will it work ? ditto will TTL work and power adjustment or is it just basic function of firing it or will that not work either ? thanks
    I had no reply from 2 emails sent to Godox the manufacturers and can find nothing saying they will or won't around the net.
    I tried this question to Sony and obviously they just said i need their $500 commander.

    • @Brianized
      @Brianized  4 года назад

      I believe you will lose the sony connection to the flash. I tried sonething dimilar once and the flash just became a simple triggered flash.

    Hi there, I am here to make a request to you to make a new video on a comparison Between Godox V1 vs Godox V860II with a Magmod Magsphere mounted on the V860II. The reason i am requesting to make this video is that v1 is more costly compared to v860II. So if we could produce the same effect of light diffusion/distribution using a magsphere on a v860II that a v1 could produce without a diffuser then we could buy a MAGMOD light modification kits and a Godox V860II for the money we spend buying a Godox V1.

    • @Brianized
      @Brianized  4 года назад

      I even said that from a practical persoective the quality of light is no different really.

    • @Brianized
      @Brianized  4 года назад

      The magmod kit is more than the price difference between the flashes though.

    • @BrewReview
      @BrewReview 4 года назад

      You’d also be adding all that weight from the kit too though. I love the practical use of the MagMod kit but have gone back to the Fong Dome if I need a hint of diffusion and don’t have soft box capability, solely for the immense weight savings involved. Add to that, yeah, it’s pricey, that piece of kit and you’d be in it more than just buying the V1 outright.
