Fan of the concept, but I still think this series would be vastly improved if the set introduction videos had more time dedicated to explaining the goals behind adding specific cards, along with format expectations. The current duels portion doesn’t really do it for me, but I may be in the minority.

yeah agreed, cool concept, but lacking execution
In terms of watchable, monetizable content (which is always going to be the priority for someone who is doing this as their full time job) this is probably as in depth as things can get without making most viewers turn off and tank the channels numbers. That being said, a comprehensive breakdown posted over on the discord or something wouldn't go amiss providing that there's someone in the wider rotation team who has the time and the knowledge to put something together.
I think part of the reason they DONT go deeper into the goals with each addition is to leave as much space for brewing as possible.
Yeah, I'm in the rotation server, and we've been clamoring for more explanations on the included cards. Also, their lists and plays are basically week 1 builds compared to what we've been cooking.

It's a Set Rotation series. Every set changes everything.

Not really. It adds stuff and shakes the meta but old decks are either fully playable or get harsh targeted anti-support. Weaker sets in rotation formats can end up doing nothing which is why they need to be well designed. They need to add interesting gameplay while balancing older gameplay without being too strong as to completely wipe out the old and not so weak as to waste everyone's time. They're in essence a gameplay enforced Yugioh banlist.

Actual suggestion this time: Have you considered the new Illusion cards for this series? They've proven utterly bonkers in Branded builds but without them + the inclusion of the vanilla Gazelle/Berfomet/Chimera/Fusion Armament, I think they could be really interesting to toy around with in a limited setting
Simply don't add Guardian Chimera and all of their meta teeth disappear. What do they have then, a targeting negate, an on-board negate and a single hand rip? Or do. Your series

Oh boy rotation, I sure hope there aren't obviously way stronger or weaker decks in the core set which have to be constantly adjusted for in every new release, placing the entire meta on a knife's edge of imbalance for all eternity, like Mage and Priest in Hearthstone.

Who cares, the purpose of rotation isnt to perfectly balance the game, its to lower the power level, something they have clearly succeeded on
@@manchovieclemmons2380 Not necessarily to lower the power level; rotation's purpose is to keep the game fresh by adding new strategies via the new pool of cards and to remove stale strats by removing the old cards those strats relied upon. A deck can ultimately be helped, hurt, or completely unaffected by rotation depending on how much it relies on cards outside of the nonrotating Core set.

Putting my two cents in for what it's worth: I heavily dislike the editing style in this video. Imo it undermined MBT's 'stage charisma' and made his humor flatter, as well as just being generally distracting.
I'm also not a fan of using background music during the actual games, but that is definitely more subjective.
Everything just felt a whole lot more forced than it usually does, at least to me, and that makes me much less likely to click specifically on rotation videos in the future if they continue in this manner.
Could just be me, though. Obviously.

Despite watching MBT for a while now I hadden't actually played yugioh since like xzys wher introduced. Me and my brother picked up rotation and I really love it so much, as a patron I got the list early and have been loveing harpy. So I can finally experiance the frustration of watcheing the funny man misplay your deck so catastrophically while I shout no that does nothing at the screen.
I can't wait for Uni-zombie to come out to make effective use of Linnear Equation cannon by being able to modulate levels on field. That's all and good night.

Seeing Dino's without ultimate conductor is interesting, they can still do a lot (uninterrupted) so the new xeno stuff looks like a nice power boost.

3- Activate Channeler pitch field spell ( rest can make you go plus 2)
4- Special perfurmer - This way you can add 2 instead of 1(now you have Channeler with lv 7 ). I would search egotis and mirror split
5- egotis for a harpie
6- syncro for Cyber slash
7-Histeric sin - egotis , summon another harpie
8- Link Channeler and and Pet dragon for Condutor
9- Pet dragon ef send Harpist
10 - Rest target Channeler, Perfurmer and deffaut harpie - draw 2
11- end fase Harpist search what you need. Problably Perfurmer
OBS: this combo is only because Storm is ban. If it wasnt : use the fiel spell to pop histeric sin - end fase add Storm and Duster + another 1
As a Harpie Player. Harpies are just more powerful in the TCG over this set format.

God damn it why does everyone think Simorgh is toxic? It's only terrifying when you let the statue exist, ban the statue, you have an omni negate that you can use once maybe, without another specific, you summon a bunch of other winged beasts. Winged Beasts not named Floo aren't that good, and you can't summon them! DAMN IT I WANT MY BIRD OF KANGS!
It's E-tele with a negate as a target that also gives blanket protection. I love the card to death but let's not pretend there's no argument against it.

I don’t get it. Why is he showing off decks and not the set list? I’m learning nothing about the format or what’s in these sets other than that there is a structure deck legal. I get it needs to be entertainment too but there’s not like a splash page at the end to show what you added? Is it just all tucked into the discord, nothing for viewers?

I know i should love this but i really don't, the core set is already ridiculously powerful. its stuffed with miserable decks to face like dark magician and the format doesn't feel that great to me, different sure but not great. The whole point of rotation is to combat powercreep by consistently returning to a lower powered format and gradually increasing its power again. So why on earth start from such a high baseline? I mean the fact that a card like gizmek orochi is in the core set just baffles. Especially when it contains cards like negate attack, shield crush and murmur of the forest which have all effectively been power crept by the set theyve friggin come out in. Theres no need for it to be this strong, for example... why did all the 'iconic' archetypes have to have most of their legacy support in the core set? synchrons are fun and have applications without having to have junk speeder in the base set. HEROES are iconic, but liquid soldier and escuridao and nova master aren't (k maybe nova master). why not have the original 7 heroes + maybe stratos and blazeman to add some functionality and everything else can be added in rotation sets.
Maybe its just me coz people seem excited and thats great but personally I'm massively disappointed with this series. Guess I wanted a slower format that ramped up to a faster one, not one that is this oppressively powerful out the gate.

This is still such a nightmare. Fifteen Special Summons each turn. Biblical-length text on half the cards. Numerous nonsense interactions that a new player can't see the outcomes of. The three decks other than Harpie were playing no backrow removal. It's just all the same problems as current Yugioh and no upside.
I think the biggest issue is that everything is too complex. Other games get their complexity from interaction. Yugioh gains complexity from interaction as well, but it adds complexity in trying to understand what any given card actually does.
Something like "Destroy a creature/monster/minion." in any other game is a good card. That's all the text it needs to be good. For a card to be good in Yugioh, it needs three paragraphs of text.
When I think of complexity and a desired format to teach new players, I'm thinking of a format where something like Stratos is as wordy/complex as an effect gets. Anything more than that and I'm not interested in the experiment.

From my basic testing they have an advantage engine that's remarkably good compared to other decks in the format. I think they could end up a decent Hop Ear or Felgrand turbo engine that sticks to the board better than others. Papillon summoning Buggy every turn seems pretty difficult to crack.

Why didn't Karma Cut in game 1 banish the other "Harpy Ladies" in the GY? What am I missing?
Karma Cut checks the name of the monster it banished, and the Harpie monsters stop being named Harpie Lady in the banished zone.
@@somedude1354 Makes sense, as it checks for the name after the first part of the effect, but I'm sure this interaction used to work on Duel Links. Maybe the specific target then was always considered harpy lady (I know some of them are like that).

So next set Lost winds will be banned? Btw, does parts of the Dino pile showing up now mean that other Dino support is meant to come later but will then just be unplayable?
My guess is that it will mean it's likely that one of the future two rotating sets has some more dino cards this time around and that it might be a while before Dinos either have some cards in the non-rotating set or get added again.
Lost wind will never be banned as it's part of the core set. So unless they make an exception to remove it from the core set it is here forever
