What a joy to see! I have been a visitor to the RH&DR for decades since I was about four years of age (1965!) and this is the first time I have seen anyone really capture the essence of the line so well. Congrats to Jonas for his patience and creativity bringing it to life.

I have been on the RH&DR many times, and have even seen 'behind the scenes' when I used to know someone who worked there! This is a beautiful model of a wonderful railway, and I am amazed at the details put into this. Thank you so much for sharing this video! 😃

Complimenti al signor Sommer, un modello eccezionale alla vista, ancor di di più attraverso la breve didascalia che ne descrive il percorso progettuale e costruttivo. Un'opera d'arte nata da una esperienza personale. Magnifico.

What a masterpiece! Never seen this in model form before and it captures the real thing perfectly. I very much appreciate the skillful videography as well! Love the lighting suggesting warm sunshine and the lovely soundscape.

Wonderful to see this especially as I've ridden on the real thing. Nice memories of family caravan holidays spent in Dymchurch, the beaches, fishing in the military canal and sea and of course the train ride.👍👍👍👍👍

Unbelievable realism. I first visited the real RH&DR 50 years ago at the age of 6 and thus brings all the memories flooding back. Even down to the wobbly track!

I can beat that a bit,😉 I first went it in the late 50s or early 60s. Also a memory jerker of staying with my uncle a local vicar, where have all the decades gone?

The RHDR have gift shops at Hythe and New Romney where they sell model trains. I have often wondered why they have never sold working models of their own locos.

This is outstanding, also visited the real RH&DR a couple of times, and this model captures all aspects in detail, up to the number of carriages and the speed of the trains.
They were quite fast for their size in reality, doing close to the permitted 25mph it felt like being on a real size standard gauge express when hanging out a bit from the open coach and looking to the locomotive.
In the description it is described as a narrow gauge railway, which it is at a track gauge of only 15" but it's also a miniature railway, which means the locomotives are scaled down standard gauge designs which can be seen as a couple of the locomotives look very much like small versions of the A3 Flying Scotsman.
The track noted for the fiddle yard in the description is standard N gauge track at 9mm width, when compared with the track width of the real RH&DR at 381mm this gives us roughly 1:43 for the scale of this layout or O gauge. Which is convenient as for figures, car models and scenery items you can use standard UK O gauge items.

    I've got a unique layout.
The Great Lacey Mine Railway in 1/35 scale.
It's been exhibited at the real railway twice and 'borrowed' for a government organised tourism trade fair.
And the big thing is, it fits in a suitcase

This layout is incredible, it really captures the RHDR in amazing detail. It is a true credit to its creator. What is the strange green monster on the train at 2.41 and 9.04? Is it Romney Marshes answer to the Loch Ness Monster?

Pardon my ignorance. I know the real RH&D is 15 inch Gauge, what is the model gauge and scale. I have never been there, but from the 1970s, have been acquainted of its history and workings, especially the WWII armoured train with .55 Boys AT crews and anti-aircraft patrols.
It is great to see a Pilentum video of the almost centenary railway , built by a Train-loving gentleman of means.
