Josh is trying to be that person who inspire others through his life experiences wither it's good or bad. He is so brave to share his traumas that maybe still haunt him to this day and keep him awake all night. The hurt in his voice just breaks my heart💔 I couldn't even watched it by myself coz I'm gonna cry my eyes out. When I thought I have the worst childhood but then Josh came and made me realize it's nothing compared to other people and that I should have been still thankful for everything.

But to answer your question as to why he didn't know how to swim, basically here in the Philippines swimming is not part of our curriculum in our basic education. It is only offered to some programs at our bachelor's level. But yes, there are institutions here that cater swimming lesson at a certain price, so most commonly Filipinos learn swimming by themselves since regular families cannot afford to pay the fee.
Being a homeless is hard.. much more if you are a child, they can easily be taken advantage of like make them work hard for long hours just for a piece of bread.. At least, homeless in the state i'm in, they can get free hot meals 6 times a day from non-profit org. or churches, plus, there are homeless shelters that give free meals and bed/shelter at night. Aside from that, there is food stamps they can use to buy food and/or get cash. According to my lola/granny, other countries like Philippines homeless are not as lucky as the ones in my city.
