I’m a part of the Army National Guard and it’s honestly one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
that’s good!
Shaniyah Carmichael what’s your mos

I’m a 68W
If your going to college, especially a state school in your state, the guard is usually the way to go depending on the state. You get all the federal benefits reservists get plus state benefits. For example, in NJ guard members get a tuition waiver to attend state schools.
This helped a lot ! Honestly ❤️ . I enlisted to the Guard in October of 2019..and most people had me second guessing .
Simply K good! 💕
I’m about to enlist in the guard and all of her videos just made me really comfortable and excited to join
Could you do a video on the physical tests?
I was finna do reserves so glad I switched back I’m still guard just waiting to go back to meps for Ait
I went national gaurd as an 92y my recruiter is the best and tells me everything and worked with me through everything best choices I made in life because I have a two year old daughter 💚💚
So I want to join the army after I graduate but my dilemma is that I want an education and I want to go to college but I also wanna travel a lot so I don’t know whether to choose active duty or reserve. Which one should I choose?
Reserve
What is one of the biggest cons for being in the reserves? And also I wanted to switch active after AIT is that possible as well?
it depends on your unit tbh. & biggest con would be freedom.
Just graduated basic today but I’m active💪🏾🇺🇸
hoah congratulations!
Shaniyah Carmichael Thank you💪🏾🇺🇸
Congratulations

But the pay for reserves and national guard are the same right?
So I want to travel while I’m in the military, I know the Army is bases all over. Does the National Guard as Active duty deploy overseas?
National guard dose deploy, and they usually are in a cycle. For example our tankers go on deployments every other year, or something like that, I'm not a 19k, I'm a 91b in AIT and I've heard that my unite dose something similar as well
If one was disqualified form active duty at meps could that person try to go reserve with better luck?
Ight I got a question. So I’m shipping out to basic (fort Jackson) April 1st but when I get back (around July) I wanted to go to school. Should I apply to college before or after I leave for basic?
apply before, that’s what i did
Willywawa, hope everything is well with you. For anyone that might have a similar question, you get better pay the more college you have under your belt going in.
You can be both.
My Mom was Active Duty National Guard and my Dad was in the Reserves National Guard I heard it depends on where you live and what services they offer.
I enlisted in the guard October 2019 I leave for bct March 23 and I plan on going active after ait
Me to are you going fort Jackson?
Did you leave for bct?
if you go from reserves or national guard to active will you have to do BMT again??
DrawItUp Jay no
noo.
im in national guard,i go to basics may 27 fort jackson🇺🇸
Joining the guard soon ! This video was really helpful & made me more confident of my decision ❣ Thanks!!
I’m happy! 😌
so if I join the nationa guard then we wouldnt get the few days in a month and 2 weeks out of the year? or is that only for the reserves? Im taking the asvab soon for the national guard...
no y’all do. it’s basically the same as reserves. national guard just get more educational benefits
@@iamshaniyahc >i
Question can I go home after basic training if I’m part of the National Guard?
it depends.
If you have a job the lets you after basic you have to go to Job training which can be 1 mouth -2 mouths
Can you wear braids to basic training and ait?
yes. it just has to be a certain size and length
Song in the beginning?
Im a federal officer the reserves workers better for me! I can't go to school full-time and work full-time. So getting my education slowly Im fine with that. I agree full-time students should go national guard! But ill say this I promoted faster than my friends that went reserves and they are pt studs. Im a SSG they still specialist/Sergeant with +10 years in. Plus I've been to cooler deployments Poland, Germany, and Korea
What exactly are you saying? U saying u went federal reserves and at the same, u saying u promoted faster than u friends that went reserve. Have mercy on us with the confusion😭
@@kelechikingsley1080 facts I was trying to figure that out too 😫
how did you wear your hair at basic training?
Najaah McMillan she have a video similar to that topic “What to bring to Basic & AIT”
I just wore my hair in my low bun or cornrows
Good job! I showed this to a recruit! She’s sold!
yay! that’s good!
@@iamshaniyahc Right! It’s helpful when you have a non recruiter POV! Keep up the good work!
Arkansas Army NG Recruiter!
Im going to the Guard this year
Would you recommend Full time or Part time?
Part time if you have a job and college
Just Soon after I graduate from high school this coming May, I'm gonna join the Army 💪🏻🇺🇸
Derek Garza im doing airforce
@@destinyyy2513 what job are you planning to do in the air force
Derek Garza haven’t decided but I’m gong to talk to my recruiter since I took the asvab alrwdy
@@destinyyy2513 as long you know what to do to pick a job lol
Derek Garza Lol I think I got it
Do I need to enlist first and then join school?
no you can go to college first if you want too!
What do u really need to join in national guard?
look up the requirements. i don’t want to tell you the wrong thing
@@iamshaniyahc great 👍 thx
So if I go to the Guard, is the basic training for 9weeks? And after all that training, do you get to go once a month?
It’s 10 weeks. & then you go to AIT. then you go to your unit once a month.
I know you said that you have to sign up for TA prior , so they wouldn’t help with past school?
😍😍😇😇😂😂 YOUR INTRO THO.. #DANCE
I'm thinking on joining the Army as an 88m I'm debating between Reserves and National Guards
most definitely national guard
@@iamshaniyahc Thank you! I'll probably go guard!
@xtre1me_995 whats wrong with choosing 88m this is what i was considering for my mos
i’m wanting to join the army reserves but i wanna go to college first i can still join the reserves after and still have my tuition paid for ?
No
I wanna join the army and I wanna do active duty
Do it then.
Then national guard it is!!!
Hi Shaniyah! Is basic training hard ? How many weeks? Im a Registered Nurse and wanna serve by joining national Guard.Thank you! ❤️
Some said it was hell but it was fun at the same time and it's 10 weeks I'm going for army reserves I gotta take my asvab I already talked to my recruiter and stuff I graduated high school last year
Hey! Basic is really what you make it to be! Just think positive! 💕
@@Maylah1999 how’s everything going? I’m a senior in HS and I don’t know whether i wanna talk to a recruiter now so I can leave when I graduate or talk to one later around July.
@@Maylah1999 and also I weight 155 and the weight limit says the max is 145 but I can’t get lower then 150 but I’m fit
If your an RN, go officer. You can earn a direct commission. Contact a medical recruiter for more information.
So it is very possible to do the reserves while being a full time college student right? Or is that a lie recruiters tell you
Ashley 101 no it’s possible! I’m doing it.
Thats what reserve is for.
just joined the guard !!
Janelleyyy G I don’t know how that process is☹️
Janelleyyy G girl same here! When do you leave to basic? I’ll be going to South Carolina, Fort Jackson.
Can you wear an Apple Watch to AIT?
depends
intro was fire!
You are REALLY BEAUTIFUL on GOD
awww thank you!
So national guards is active and army reserve is not active? Sorry I’m confused
yes ma’am that’s right.
Not necessarily. So in the national guard there’s more opportunities to become active or do active orders while still in your home state/hometown. We have this thing called AGR (active guard/reserve) and basically you can get a full time job while still receiving all the active duty benefits but you don’t have to leave! It’s real active duty without the hassle. Only bad thing is that these jobs are very competitive because you have to go to a board and they determine if you’re fit or not for the position.
If you decide to do regular drill once a month (M-day) you can still get tuition exemption as long as you pass your pt test and height and weight, if you are flagged the national guard will stop paying for your schooling. You can still receive your G.I bill but you might have to get student loans to pay for tuition, staying in shape is a MUST
You are beautiful
How much the pay tho
National guard is not federally funded just state
Yes it is. It’s also dual mission. Look it up
If I sign up as a sophomore would they pay for prior students loan
you have to score high on your ASVAB
Which has the cuter girls?
Air Force
is army reserves just as hard
everyone go through the same training.
Can you give your school money to your child?
Yes but you gotta be active duty for 6 yrs
Volume stinks…!
Jesus saves
Speak already....
This helped NONE..
lol okay. it helped many other day people. so maybe try looking for other videos 😘
wish i could speak with u if u ever have time can we chat but i am leaning towards national guard
NG is better if and only if, you are absolutely sure you want to do reserve component for the rest of your career and you do not plan on moving to another state for six years or you just want to do your first contract and move on. If you are not absolutely sure, then do Federal Reserve. Why? Career flexibility, easier to switch from AR and AD and vice versa, easier to get AD orders on a short term without budget limits, promotion system follows the same guidelines as AD, etc....the only difference is the GI Bill Kicker (hence, the NG "pays more"). Everything looks good about either AD, AR, or NG "until" you get to your home unit. That's where you start second guessing your decision. Yes, it is possible to run out your NG contract and then go either AD or AR. However, let me caution you, especially if you're 18-25....life will not go as planned, even if you are in college. I would give the same advice if you wanted to do ROTC/SMP. The only difference is the GI Bill Kicker Incentive.
PS, less I forget the best secret of the Reserve Component, both AR and NG....it's the AGR (Active Guard Reserve or Title 32, google it). It's basically a full time AD job based in your current location or another state if you choose to do so. Military Technician is also an option. Again, more options on the AR side than NG. Some of these jobs can be found on USAJobs.gov, but you will be able to find more information and get the inside track once you get to a unit and have access to the internal jobs database.
