  • Jules Herbuveaux’ Palmer House Victorians - Where The Wild Wild Flowers Grow, Fox-Trot (Dixon-Woods) Vocal Chorus by Frank Sylviano, Brunswick 1927 (USA)
NOTE: Jules Herbuveaux was a popular Chicagoan dance bandleader of the Roaring Twenties, who - following the decline of his popularity during the big-band era - switched in 1940s -50s to tv productions. His early recordings from 1927-29 represent a typical hot dance style of a Mid-Western white dance band, which can be found also in recordings of his Chicagoan compatriots of that time, such as Paul Ash, Benson Orchestra of Chicago or Isham Jones. During the late Roarin’ 1920s, Jules Herbuveaux orchestra played at the Palmer House - one of major downtown hotels in Chicago during the Jazz Age, where also performed such Chicago-bound renowned dance bands like Coon-Sanders Nighthawks, Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five or Frank Trumbauer.

Me and friends used to expect a little jazz solo after the vocal chorus. Not always is but here a trumpet and accordion are highlighted for few bars and also a beautiful clarinets section. Thank you.

Outstanding tune. You are so clever to find and to share with wonderful pistures, postcards and magazine covers. The last one was a painting. Do you know who's the painter? Most exquisite.
