no idea what i must've screwed up to make the pulse 2 channel do that around 2:27 lmao whoops edit: oh. 60k views, huh. that's a little terrifying. thank y'all so much ^^
I think it's kinda funny how, if this was in an actual GB game, half of Unexpectancy Part 3 would be just the bass channel due to Peppino beating the sh out of everyone xD
This is one of the only remixes I've seen where Phase 2 doesn't just have the vocals added in there. I'm glad you adhered to the Gameboy's limitations, it makes this remix stand out.
major props to op for fitting this song into the very restrictive medium of gameboy music. part 2 has that delicious incongruence between weird melody and the first 2 channel's sounds. especially at 3:38 where it sounds almost like an ice cream truck jingle, its extra creepy bc we know pizzaface is a goofy clown kinda guy, an unassuming exterior hiding a sinister purpose...
It also kinda works since the main melody has this like little bit where it like reminds me of someone like being chased and actively taunting the person chasing them for not being able to catch them. It seems his entire them incorporates a bunch of childish illusions to try and sell you that pizzahead is just goofy
Honestly just goes to show the difference between a good musician and a GREAT musician. If a song can sound just as good with 4 channels as it can with 16, you know you have an artist who truly understands music on the keyboard. It's also a testament to how good Pizza tower music really is, just like how good Pokemon music was and that one Ninja game on the commodore 64 that also has top tier 4 channel music.
It's a minor detail, but I always love it when an arrange of Part 3 gets the triplet notes at 6:44 down instead of doing the lazier eighth notes through that part. Kudos
6:22 It's nice when a cover gets the notation right. And it's even nicer when they manage to simulate the delay effect using a single goddamned pulse channel. i respect the competence and attention to detail
Well this could be done using the sound chip on a GB, but you'd have to plug it to something different to actually use it to play this song I'd imagine
It's still crazy how you could just make all the bosses with only 4 channels Idk if you'll do all the other levels too (Probably not because that's literally 20 more songs not even counting the other versions AND not even counting pizza time and lap 2) but this has been a fun little journey with these songs Good job man!
thank you so much! :) and as for the entire rest of the OST i don't think i'll be doing all of it as you said lol, mostly just because some of the songs don't seem like they'd translate to chiptune all that well
The authenticity is fantastic, but maybe there's a chance to experiment with Phase 2; the reason why the classy music was so jarring was because of the stark genre shift from Hard Rock to 1900's. It'd be interesting to translate this feeling by making it with, like, 16-bit channeling or something; make it pop out like it doesn't belong. Creative thoughts, here, that's all. Otherwise, thanks for giving us some top notch music. I've never heard anyone nail that Death I Deservioli in remixes of Phase 3 and you did it.
thank you for the kind words :) while making part 2 i thought about doing a separate remix using different types of sound chips + more channels since i wanted to keep this one strictly limited to what the gameboy can handle, but i agree, i think using something more out of place like that for the vocal sample would be fun. who knows, maybe i'll get around to doing it sometime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Part 1: peppino finally made it to the top, and ready to fight for revenge Part 2: peppino finds out the true villain and ready to shoot Part 3: *_he can’t take it anymore, his anxiety went wrong, italian mode activated MAX_* Part 3.8: *_his madness went OVER max, and was ready to _**_-kill-_**_ fight that villain_*

I mean you could still do it, but you’d have to sacrifice the wave channel to do it and it would also sound super bad.

Triplets are always a nice touch. Add a kind of "pep" to the song which really fits the more actiony gamey feel of battle themes.
