    Always love watching people who really know what they are doing. I will have a go at almost anything, but that takes nothing away from the people who know how to do it the same way they know how to breathe. Poetry in motion.

      As much as most climbers love to be in the tree, the moment your feet hit the ground is usually a welcome one, Lol😂. Especially if you were six hours straight in the tree, and it's 90°F...Lol...🍺

    It is a treat to watch teamwork like this around tricky areas like the home. Tim did a splendid job and the safety person on the ground is paramount for these operations. As a 50 year old retired Navy guy I'm far too young to have lost so much of my hearing. That was my fault for not protecting myself better while working around machinery.
    Please always use a safety person and protective equipment.
    Again, terrific video and I always learn something from you guys. ✌️👍😎☀️

      I hope you can answer a question for me. Why do they cut all of the limbs out of the tree instead of just cutting the tree?

    • @edwardmackenzie1051
      @edwardmackenzie1051 6 лет назад +1

      it's often if it's in close proximity to buildings, fences, ponds, decking etc when there wouldn't be space to fell it in one but in this case it would have been to save damage to the lawns and it was safer as it was next to one building

    For the Swedes among you, here is a very good book about logging in the Pacific North West. Författeren, Lars Nordström, är ett svensk på Mora. Boken är mycket bra och precis. Jag köpte min bok i Mora. I cannot post a photo here, but the title of the book is Skogshugarna i fjärran västern skogar (En unik svensk utvandringshisoria), vid Lars Nordström. The book is only available in Sweden and was written for Swedes so that they could understand where their ancestors went when they left Sweden and what they did. För alle svensk, you have no idea what your ancestors have contributed to the US. We should be eternally grateful for what all Nordics contributed to the US and Canada when they left their homes so many years ago. The west coast of the US is very much a reflection of the values and ethics of the Nordics that came here and contributed their skills, ingenuity and values to all of us. I am at least one American who will acknowledge the contribution. Tack så mycket!

    How is do you attach your saw the the harness? Looks so convenient, mine dangles too far down even on the metal loop.
    Cheers Dan.

    OK. There is a whole lot in this video. First, Tim's gooooood! I know some very good arborists and Tim is excellent.
    Well done and methodical. I was trained to climb and top trees to rig logging spars by an old guy that was in his 70's when he taught me. Our climbing was not to protect anything below, but to get up the trees as fast as we could and drop the top. That's when our job really started because we would then rig the entire tree for yarding logs out of the woods. I can tell you that I can still climb, but I would not plan on making a career change at this point in my life!
    Now, on to the most important aspect of your video. Your title really says it all, "Never Attempt This Unless..." I’ve worked on a cutting crew and was trained by some very good people. I also taught timber harvesting at Washington State University and I taught vocational forestry for five years in a high school program. Felling timber and doing aerial tree work is NOT for the untrained!! I have watched at least three You Tube channels where the people are felling timber and they do not know what they are doing. They are at risk themselves and putting anyone else at risk who is watching the video and thinks, “I could do that!” Don’t. Timber felling is one of the most dangerous occupations in the world and there are a lot of stories to be told of problems that have occurred. If you are not trained, find someone who is. Don’t put yourself and others at risk for injuries. I deeply appreciate the professionalism that you and Tim show here. You’re first class! Thanks for warning people to stay away from this venture without training. You’re to be commended! Make sure you tell Tim that I appreciate his skills. On my current log building project we had to take down two large Douglas-fir trees. One was 54” in diameter and the other was 40”. I’ll burn the photos and videos to a DVD and send them to you. I think the two of you will appreciate them.
    Again, very good job! You’re doing a premier class You Tube channel and you really prove it with today’s offering! Mycket bra job!

      I spent 8.5 years there and it was all worth it. We have three generations of cougars in the family and I'm sure there will be a fourth as well.
