Never knew this tune was done with a dobro, new level of respect for the song. Your video's continue to help me further appreciate The Beatles and their genius, gives us fans more "amo" for explaining why they are the greatest music act ever!
I requested this cover a year ago, and now, that Dream has become a reality…and even better than I would’ve expected it. Knocked it right out of the park. Thanks, Sam! And thanks for the shoutout as well, well, well!
I'm loving these covers, they are becoming increasingly better. I didn't know this song, but I never would have expected a resonator with that sound! Again, I don't know the song but I'm sure the cover is so accurate that I don't even need to look it up. Also thanks for doing it full band, I love seeing all the instruments. Nice job!
That was amazing--might be my favorite of yours so far. Could you do I Found Out, from the same great Plastic Ono Band LP, at some point? Keep up the good work!
Love it!! I Remember how much I loved this album and this great song - most of my friends thought I had smoked too much weed but I still love this track and appreciate you covering so well Sam!!! I sang along the whole time except the primal part😁
This really does sound amazing. Great job Sam. HJ is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to guitars. haha We collab on my multitrack list so I trust his opinion.
I love this !! I feel like it goes more and more to a glam rock vibe trough out the song in particular with the second guitar arrival. I'm hoping for more lennon tracks like hold on or gimme some truth
Hey buddy... you did a GREAT job!!! Awesome!!! I was reading the description and I was impressed by the possibility that he used his Mosrite Dobro on practically every song on his first album. Do you think he might have used this guitar on "Hold On" as well???
It’s super interesting isn’t it? Hold On in particular sounds like a casino to me. But the dobro’s pickup being in the neck pickup position does make it sound very warm. It’s not impossible
@@sampopkin it is actually super interesting! When I recorded "Look At Me" for my RUclips channel I was wondering which guitar he used. I researched on the internet and books, but nothing concrete. Someone even suggested that it was a nylon string guitar and a steel string guitar... and that's what I ended up doing. It sounds great! However, with the release of the Plastic Ono Band boxset, some tracks reveal that one of the instruments was an electric guitar. Then a new question arises... Casino or Dobro?!
@@nandokinks it’s so hard to say. I’m still getting acquainted with my casino, let alone the dobro. It’s possible the J160e was used with the pickup as well. My guess is the dobro was used on look at me though
I was going to say this is the best thing I have listened to recently, but then I went to your videos uploaded. So I am going to have to postpone judgment. Can it get awesomer than this?
I’ve always been a huge fan of the guitar tone on this album… would you say that he used the resonator on other songs like “I Found Out?” It certainly sounds the same, at least to my ear.
I thought it was the Casino too. But on the record, I notice a lot of acoustic bleed coming from the strings, more so than from the Casino. I know John had a resonator, but I didn't know it had a pickup.
@@sampopkin ahh ty my bass amp is a fender so i’ll definitely give it a try to see if that works. what’s the volume and tone knob amount on the bass again?

That resonator has an amazing sound
that bass tone! perfect ... it's so simple, so klaus, so instant karma... great!
That resonator guitar sounds even better than the record. Awesome!
Beautiful cover. spectacular sounds. next "I Found Out"?
love this song - and you nailed it!
The great Michael Sokil! Now that’s a compliment. Thanks buddy ❤️
The full band covers are amazing. Also love that resonator guitar!
Wonderful, as always. I have a request for “#9 Dream”.
What a rocker song. Heavy. Very solid tune. Also it’s nice to see you playing the drums.
Genuinely thought I was hearing the drums from the original but nope! This is one of the most scarily accurate covers I’ve ever heard
Thank you😳

You’ve gotta check out the album Plastic Ono Band! One of John’s best. Thanks for watching

I intend to! Thanks. I need to decide if I Found Out was Dobro or Casino first

awesome video man! never in my life did i think a resonator would sound like this!
fucking amazing
Probably my favorite track of that album. Absolutely wonderful! Nailed the tone on everything! Love that drum sound as well!
Always have been in that guitar sound and it is so satisfying to see you nail it!! Also fantastic drumming from you, Sam!
Thanks Ev!
Wow Paul play drums!!!
Faul xd
Glad I could provide some insight into the gear for this cover. Great video as always Sam!
Thanks for your help Harrison!
Wow. Always so good.
What I really love about your videos is that they really show how the songs were put together.
You do that perfectly.
Thank you!
The drum sound is spot on
Thanks!
Amazing as usual🎉
This really does sound amazing. Great job Sam. HJ is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to guitars. haha We collab on my multitrack list so I trust his opinion.
awww man what an incredible raw rock sound 🔥
Wow! Amazing!!!
Wow, if I listened to this without looking at the video, I would’ve thought that this was a backing track from POB.
I love how mean and ballsy that guitar sounds!

What an amazing cover. Great playing!
Holy hell, amazing!
This is amazing!! Thank you! There are little to no covers of this on RUclips but I've always loved the song
Thumbs up doing something so obscure and nailing it.
Right on!! This sounds fantastic!! ❤️ cheers my friend!!
Such a great song. Amazing cover too.
That is spot on!
Awesome drumming too!
Got the sound!
Wow man, your covers are just on fire!! Absolutely perfect.
Thanks!
Amazing as always!
Génial ! Bravo

perfect
Wow, that sounds amazing

Very possible. He claimed to use it for every electric on the album, but might’ve just been vague statement
Wow sounds great. I never knew this was a resonator. Which other songs did he use it on?
My Mummy’s Dead, it’s So Hard, Look At Me, maybe I Found Out but not sure
@@sampopkin thanks. Yeah I’d agree “I found out too.”
good distroin
🤩👌
I thought it was the Casino too. But on the record, I notice a lot of acoustic bleed coming from the strings, more so than from the Casino. I know John had a resonator, but I didn't know it had a pickup.
The only one I know for sure was Casino is Hold On. Too smooth like p90’s. I Found Out could’ve been either 🤷
@@sampopkin sounds more like the Casino. It has that bright tone to it that really doesn't come with a fully hollowbodied acoustic guitar.
Incredible as usual. Did John use a resonator on the recording? I just figured he used his Casino.
He did use a resonator. Casino was used on Hold On but the Dobro was used on a lot of Plastic Ono album
Young Paul McCartney playing John Lennon songs here haha
Awesome sound Sam
Is that in standard tuning?
Yes
In 2024 you might become John Lennon
✌👓
Is it possible John might have used this on Crippled Inside?
Maybe but it sounds a bit smoother like casino. I think he used the dobro on it’s so hard and maybe don’t want to be a solider
Maybe but it sounds a bit smoother like casino. I think he used the dobro on it’s so hard and maybe don’t want to be a solider
@@sampopkin It's So Hard had to be an electric. It definitely has a bridge pickup sound, something the Dobro didn't have.
massively over looked song!
Pure kick ass to the moon!
i personally think that your version sounds better than the original, in terms of instruments since at my first impression of that song was ur cover.
what's the bass amp settings? i have an sg bass and i want it to sound like that.
Not sure I have the settings but on my Bassman usually it’s volume at 4, treble at 6 and bass at 4-5

Please The Backseat of my car
Do you by chance have tabs for these?
No I’m sorry
@@sampopkin Dang, well great cover nonetheless!
Why you got Paul McCartney on the drums?😂
Also thanks for teaching me the guitar notes, I’ve been trying and so playing rubbish for the past 2 days😅
That dobro looked very cool and sounds very nice ! BTW check out Ryohei Kanayama on RUclips, he makes fantastic Beatles covers.
I’ve been following him for years. Great channel. Thanks!
@@sampopkin yeah These are the content creators I would like to collaborate in the future!
is that drumming hard?
Simple but hard to keep up
@@sampopkin oh yup fair enough. It would give me blisters on my fingers tho lol
Sounds kinda like T Rex at parts
Please tell me how to reach that guitar tone on my Fender?🫣 Or at least tone close to this one
I plugged directly into my interface and cranked the input, like Revolution
