that's right, you run your life, the haters don't. good to see you standing up against the hate mongers who always try to make others miserable
The panels in the stallion pen looks great and neat. Your farm, your horses, your decision what you want to do. Ignore hateful comments. 🙏❤️
You’re a responsible backyard breeder that has incredibly high-quality old-style quarter horse ranch horses. You have nothing to apologize for. These horses are wonderful and there are far too few of them to go around.
Not a backyard breeder but a hobby breeder his horses are a hobby not for profit
Mr. Alan, it's your Farm so it's your decision. PERIOD ! Love how the new fencing is lookin' ! CONGRATS !!! You have truly BEAUTIFUL HORSES ! Blessings, Grace and Peace to you and your family.
I see no problem with the breeding - excited to see the foal next year!
They are your horses and you know the history and blood line. Do as you wish.
Farmer Tyler Ranch doesn't have horses but he has cows and he has them go through a pasture gate that he's had a fly treatment on that basically dangles from one gate post to another Gate Post and they walk through it and it coats them as they go through it. And he doesn't when they are being heavily attacked by flies. I don't know if this is a possibility for something that could spray as they lick salt licks or minerals. Because he also uses a sprayer through a gate as well.
All 3 of those horses are gorgeous!!! Chippy and Lex would have a beautiful baby!!
I love how you used the horse shoes as reinforcement welding them to the pen and of course you have them the correct direction, so no luck runs out!!
Oh, besides the garlic mineral salt, we also have peacocks and guinea fowl, and they just love picking through horse manure for fly maggots and stuff. That probably helps keep the number
What a beautiful video. Love seeing the horses. God bless you from Port Huron Michigan ❤.
Beautiful herd!❤❤
Lex and chipper throw some amazing goals they are so beautiful ♥️
Beautiful horses! I wish the best for all living beings, that includes your horses too. There's a lot more troubling things going on in our Nation than Chippy breeding Lex. As for making a name---it seems to me that the folks who buy your horses and train them to be a roping horse or cow horse or whatever, those are the people making their reputation grow.
Exactly! they are your horses you pay the feed bill. God Bless you and your family, and of course all your critters!
My dad always said there were pros and cons to line breeding. Bottom line they are your horses to do with what you like. Go Alan
You can put fly blocks out for them. It's a feed through fly control that breaks the cycle of the fly at the larvae stage.
I also see no problem with how you breed horses as long as you don’t embed them. People get to see a rare amount of time and have no business judging you. Have a great day!
I love when the babies tail just can't stop.
I really like those horseshoes on the panels. It gives them a unique look.
I have not seen a channel yet that I follow, that don't have haters. Keep up the good work, you save wild horses from the slaughter trucks by finding them new homes
I don't know if this really works or not, but another RUclipsr was using coconut oil on her cow and wow, it really made a difference! She had rubbed on one side and it was without flies, the other side was covered. I don't know how long it would last, but if it does, it might be worth trying. I'm sure you have some in the cupboard, and with this weather it will be liquid. So try it on one horse and see.
My family had a breed of horses. Dement Tennessee Walking horses. Allen Dement was the breeder and owner of Merry Legs(c.1911) He rode his horses with a glass of water to prove how smooth the horses were. There are photos and information on google.
Thank you for breeding responsibly. Just keep loving your horses😊
Hi Alan - from Australia! 🇦🇺 regards your query about flies. The Sheep Game channel in Scotland were advertising a supplement called crystalex which is a stock lick - this company sells a variety called Garlyx for cows which has magnesium and stuff in it, but it also has Garlic! Which they say has been proven to stop a percentage of flies from landing on cows. Not saying this is suitable for horses but maybe there is a natural horsey equivalent which would be safe.
The cows look like they love it!
God bless Alan.
What happened to her side? Bless her heart. Looks like she was hurt. I love learning about horses from you.
❤ Please like and Share ❤
we want to continue to watch this Beautiful Family ❤
I've line bred over my 40 years of raising Arabians and Appaloosas and the results were very good
Blaze is a cutie. All your horses are beautiful and I watch a lot of videos about horses, horse, breeding, etc. and almost everybody who’s in the business of breeding seems to breed their mayor when she still has a young foal I would be more concerned with just if the mayor is a healthy mayor to begin with. I had commented before that we rescued a Hackney pony and unbeknownst to anyone she was already pregnant. She had the cutest little Philly on May 1, the Philly was born with gray eyes and silver gray coat except her main tail feet and face were black the vet everyone thought she’d be a GRUILLA but now she’s lost a lot of her full coat and she just seems to be all black. I know that can change so we’ll see what happens we really love her. She’s very beautiful the vet, so she has perfect confirmation. We have no idea what her dad is but she’s not even three months old and she’s almost as big as her mother.
I guess I got confused about what people might complain about in your right through your horses and as long as you are not miss treating them it’s really nobody’s business. We have had a good amount of success with the garlic salt that you can get for horses some of our horses just won’t eat it though, but the ones that do tend to have less problems. I have one horse who was allergic to most fly sprays. She just totally breaks out in the hives and we can’t put oil based things on her for or our white skinned horses in the summer so we tried that as an option it helps.
There is a fly drop just like they use for cats and dogs called Farnam Equi-spot that I have seen other horse lovers use. One application lasts 2 weeks.
The panels you’re using are fantastic, we used about 5 of them in our garden for tomatoes, cucumbers etc to climb on. They work very well for lots of different applications. Horses are looking great, hope to see Gold 66 in action at some point.
Stallion pen is going to look great
Many years ago auburn university was working on a way to control horse flies. It had something to do with treating adult flies and causing them to lay eggs that were always sterile males. I know at one point they were asking us to let them try this with our barn and pastures. One thing was yes it cut down on flies but it didn’t stop flies from the area coming in. It would take about 5 years to see a real drop in flies not a quick kill. This was around 30 ish years ago so I’m not sure about the results. You could contact the university or try a vet school in your state to see if they’ve done more work with the fly problem. ANYWAY rofl I think you know your horses and bloodlines better than anyone else so just ignore rude people!
Great looking horses!
I think your pen looks a 100% better. As for your horses they are so beautiful. You’re the farmer, you know what’s best. I know you would never put any of your animals in harms way. God Bless
I wondered if that was what you were doing when you turned them out together in the pasture by the river. I think it is a wonderful idea. A foal related to Sixty-six, Chippy, and Lex.
❤❤❤ I like how you and your family are. Do you and be real. ❤❤❤ love and hugs ❤❤❤ can you spray rust spray on your welding?
You save horses that help the Nation needs too pass to someone else. So I wouldn’t worry about what the few nay-sayers think. It’s not like you are a major breeding farm. Blessing to you and the family.
Love your panels on your stallion pen!! Great job Alan!! Looks so good !
Thanks so much!
If you are not in-breeding what does it matter what people think, it isn't like you have a (horsey mill) like a puppy mill going and this will be a beautiful colt.
Love the look of the stud pen. 😊
I wish I could block all the haters for you
Haters will be hates...
I think that it is nice to see, that you have the knowledge, about your Horses and their bloodline...
Making consciences and good decisions ..👍
So happy about this, Mr Alan! Yes, lines/genetics. Can't wait to see a new baby, especially with Chippers lines, my fav horse! ❤ Blaze is looking so handsome!
Line breeding is a normal and recognizes way to breed. It helps the breeder set type. Outcrosses can bring in undesirable traits, including bad conformation.
Very correct
Wow, the farm is looking good. Those panels are fantastic you could even use them to use for coops or small pens. The line breeding is not inappropriate as long as they are far enough apart. The delmare panels for the stallion pen is very wise and smart use to keep the boys safe and less likely to get out or step through. Continue to run the farm and this channel the way you want. There will always be nay sayers. Ignore them and do what is right for you. Most of us who watch you channel do so because we appreciate how much you help and love the horses and other farm animals. Continue to do you, that is the only way to be an example and light to others. Farm On! ✌💖🕯🙏🐎🐎🐎
Even dog breeders line breed to get the best qualities and consistency of type in their dogs. So I totally understand why you are line breeding to keep your family’s line alive.
Your new fence looks amazing. Really dresses things up! Great job!!
Can't wait to see how your pen turns out! 🐎
Chippy is 2yrs old and old enough to breed.
Your farm looks fantastic ❤❤
That is a beautiful set of those 3 in the pasture. I think that is a great idea you have of keeping blood lines going. Those panels look nice on the stud pen. A lot better than wire all the way
Like I tell every horse that I like do what you like❤❤❤
Your panel looks great, as for the horses do as you wish. It is your farm. You should 😊take pride in your accomplishments/dreams. Hi to Blake.....
Fence is cool looking with horseshoes.
Your horses are healthy n loved. Boo Hoo to naysayers.
awesome looking new fence. i know nothing about horse breeding, I will love any new foals you have. I used to ride long ago when I was young woman, too old now, i can just watch others.
The new panels look great. I love the horse shoes welded on.
So long as it is linebreeding and not inbreeding. ❤
Line breeding can strengthen a line of genetics and it can also bring out any weaknesses. It really depends on how confident you are in those genetics. It sounds like you're breeding sound working horses and building a successful reputation on that isn't a bad thing and isn't dependent on strictly show confirmation.
We used those gross🤮 gallon jars that pulled flies away from our horses and had to be emptied or thrown out on a regular basis . but we had pretty much just flies not those big horse flies or bots.
It's your horses you do what you want too. You have a beautiful herd keep doing what you do.
How many generations since the original blood line has been in your family? What a beauty.
Hey Alan and Vicki,
This line of yours is gorgeous!
Just do you👍.
Beautiful Colt, I love his spunk!
Sweet job on the fence💪😍.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Nice fence! I'm impressed and taking notes 😁 I'm looking forward to the new foal. Seems to me that you've done a nice job with your horses. They're beautiful and well taken care of.
LOL on the tough . I am a bit older then you and i understand why you want your drift away name to go on and on as I would always pirk up when i heard the name poco bueno and doc bar . you are lucky enough to do as you want and i respect that .from an old barrel racers . god bless
Love your videos Alan. Your horses are beautiful and well taken care of. Blaze is so pretty!
Love the horseshoe reinforces
Your horses, your knowledge, your expertise. Go for it
I really enjoy your videos. The fence looks great. I really like the idea of reinforcing the posts and rails with horseshoes; it looks really nice. You are using good logic in your breeding program and, even though you are breeding for the traits you want in a horse, most people would be thrilled to have a horse from your breeding program. Don't pay attention to negative commentors; they are unhappy people with very narrow minds. By the way, I really like your demeanor and the way you communicate. Keep up the good work.
I noticed your brother David on HI Five says "anyways" alot too!
lol
There a new product out called Equispot. You apply a spot of the pesticide in numerous places along the neck, back and legs of the horses. It deters flies, fleas and ticks for two weeks. I’ve heard good response about it. Maybe once every two weeks would be more feasible. Love the Delmar fence panels, and the horseshoe touch on the posts is awesome! ❤❤❤
Have you tried a feed additive for flies? Or the big bag fry traps? Either is not perfect but helps. There is also a fly cake that flies land on and eat. There is also a fly mask that is Lycra and fits closely to their face. But if they don't want it on, they'll get it off. Can't wait to see that baby. Have an awesome day.
I thank it looks good. And the horseshoe's look good to.
Vinegar and water spray should help repel flies.
Wow, I didn't know you could cross your grandpa's genetics post mortem thru a horse... 😂 I'm teasing. That's what I heard and I was like what... Yea, I wasn't paying attention. 😂@8:57 comedy relief
Your horses are gorgeous! And, kudos on your renovated pen with the steel panels. Looks really sharp with the added touch - horseshoes! Have a blessed day. (You're my new favorite channel.)
Horses dont mind the smell of regular AVON SKIN SO SOFT. PLEASE TRY IT IT WORKS.
What the hell! I have heard this before. I might try it myself 😅
Very nice job on the stud pen!
As long as they’re not bred too close together, genetic wise, you should be fine. That’s as much as I know. Well, mom had to go potty too mom and baby.. They are a beautiful little family. Your panels look really nice nice and clean.
You could get him collected and also sell his seman.
There's nothing wrong with a nice line breeding! You know your stock. They have good minds and you have always loved Chipper, so you'll have something that goes back to her. Should be really nice!!
Chippy is Chipper's son. Chipper is Lex's aunt so he is Lex is his cousin. Far enough to breed Chippy and Lex I would think.
Have you tried garlic mineral blocks for flys
Fly preditors work for us
Alan did you leave the water on in the big horse pen? Alan do you guys have plans yet with Lex baby Blaze? Blaze is a very good looking Colt there Alan. Is Chippy trained to ride? You guys still going to finish the fence by the house? Yes Alan I believe it will be a cool cross with Lex and Chippy. The Stud pen does look very good there Alan.
Oops 😬 yes I did. No firm plans with Blaze yet. Chippy will start being trained this fall
In my opinion. You get the best and most consistent breeding animals byline/in breeding. Sometimes you also get the worst.
I like the idea. I think it's great.
Fence is looking great
Alan, that seems like a beautiful colt in the future. It is your decision and you know the outcome from the registered horses you have. 66 is fantastic and Lex is beautiful, her new colt is a great addition to the line of horses. I can't wait to see what the future on the Farm brings. Maybe that wonderful Missionary Blake will be home to see the new addition. The new stud pen is going to be great. Going to miss Maureen, hopefully she will continue to visit . Looking forward to more vlogs from the Palmer farm. Hopefully Vicky & the rest of your family are doing well this hot summer.
WV HILLBILLY THE FENCE LOOKS GOOD ALLEN THE HORSE SHOES ARE A NICE TOUCH PUT SHOES ON THE REST OF THE FENCE
Id love to see the pedigree s and see how the lines line up....
Back yard breeders are normally people who breed specifically for profit
Have you done any dna health testing?
LOVE THE FOAL SHE IS A REAL BEAUTY - WOW YOUR FENCE LOOKS REALLY GOOD - OH I LOVE YOUR IDEA TO STRENTHEN WITH YOUR HORSE SHOES - GREAT THINKING - HUGGGS
You do you ❤ fm NZ
Paddock is looking great
Have you tried those fly tags that they put on cows? I've seen some people attach those tags to horses manes. Not sure if it works, but might be worth a try!
I may have to give that a try!
Horses love to eat sunflowers! Blaze is beautiful. Looks like he's going to be a palomino.
I thank it:s up to you thay are your horse's
I think you are doing great myself, but I'm nobody lol !
You’re someone!!!!
That makes sense. Now I know what line breeding is.
Cool idea using horse shoes for support.
Always something to do on the farm
We used to line breed with the rabbits, never had a problem.
