Growing up is exactly what they're doing. Controlling impulses and focusing attention, engaging and remaining silent for extended periods of time are adult behaviors, and most teens need to practice them for quite a while before they'll stick. Part of good teaching is understanding that you have real American teenagers in front of you, not idealized robots; you will only get a fraction of their attention and effort. That's why the job takes professionals.
That's a common mistake for kids to make. It really takes some time for them to internalize and apply integers. Can rephrase the question as: what mistake will most kids make here? rather than asking the question directly and this makes them take note of the integer check. You can also use it as a way to review flipping the inequality, because "is 0 greater than -2" is the same question as "is 0 less than 2?"
I missed an online class today because I didnt think there was school and we were learning this, and I was completely lost and had no idea what to do, and I looked it up and found this video and it was quick, simple, and easy. Thank you
nobody asked, but my math teacher gave us an assignment on this yesterday that is due today at 8:00 pm and it is currently 7:32 pm and i have less than half an hour to finish it, and i have been working on it since 12 pm yesterday and your video literally just saved me. thank youuu
Thank you Mr. McLogan. Your videos have helped me since I was in Algebra 1. Now that I am in Algebra 2, your videos help me a lot including this one. Thank you sir!
good tip, if the greater than sign is facing towards the y think of it as gator love shade above (facing the y) gator say no shade below (facing away from the y)
Uk our teacher don't explain anything for us and ur channel helped mee pass all the exams and got good grades wish I could meet u some time and teach me
Question I hope I get a reply So when when you divided -y is the sign always going to change? Will it still change if you have a -3y ? Or only when you’re diving it by -1?
Brian McLogan okay so let’s say I have an this equation 2x-5y is greater then it equal to 10 I do the whole process to get the mx+b equation. -5y greater then or equal to 10-2/5x when I go to divide the -5y will my symbol still change? And will it change to less then it equal too?
How come we study the same thing but we replace x with 0 to find Y and replace y with 0 to find X and then we mark it on the graph n connect it,instead of sloving it as a slope?
Nice one students your just like Filipino students here in the Philippines. Sometimes we play behind our teacher's back or sometimes eat even its not allowed 😂🤣
Hi sir, Quick question: Does the shaded region give us the region where all the solutions to the system would be located? If yes, then in the question you solved the shaded region covers quadrant 1,2 3 and 4 (where these solutions lie) right?
that's actually the first time I've seen some one plot a graph that way.......huh, generally we assume a value of either of the variables and then find the other variable
Domain is possible x solutions and range is possible y solutions. So, domain is (Negative Infinity, 1] and range is (Infinity, Negative Infinity) * The "( )" is when it's open forever or infinite, and "[ ]" is when it's a set point like 1, 5, 47, or any number.
I’m just an 8th grade girl trying to review some Algebra 1 before PARCC 😭💀 (I’m in aDvAnCeD cLaSsES) Anyways this video was actually super helpful. Wish students were more respectful though
@@atikshsingh1598 or we can simply move 3x to other side of inequality side which will become -3x and when we will change -y into y then all the signs will change including inequality which will become y>3x-z. He is making it complicated.
I stumbled upon your video when I was searching for the explanation for the maximization and minimization of the objective function in the Graphical Method of LPP. I appreciate your effort and I am from India. I have a question, why didn't you tell your students directly that when we change inequality then all the sign changes, also in 2x+y>3 you added -2x on both sides, in fact we can simply move 2x to other side with a changed sign. I am just saying why to waste 5 seconds on it when we can do it in 2 seconds.
Students are so disrespectful.
sometimes they can be, but 99% of the time they are great

i wish i had a teacher that explained this damn good and these kids that have him are so disrespectful grow up

glad. love your relationship with your students. Acting too strict will never give the students the confidence to make an error.

Question I hope I get a reply
So when when you divided -y is the sign always going to change? Will it still change if you have a -3y ? Or only when you’re diving it by -1?
when you multiply or divide by a negative number to solve an inequality you need to change the sign
Brian McLogan okay so let’s say I have an this equation 2x-5y is greater then it equal to 10 I do the whole process to get the mx+b equation. -5y greater then or equal to 10-2/5x when I go to divide the -5y will my symbol still change?

would it be possible to solve it with a negative y?
What do you mean?
@@brianmclogan like instead of turning The inequality into a positive y one, se leave it in negative y and solve it like that
